ohhh i absolutely LOVE the art you made of CAIN.. it’s literally so so cooool i’ve been tweaking about it for the past ten minutes. 🫀 what program do you use? i’ve been trying to get one that i like the feel of.

First off, thank you so much!!!

Secondly, I use clip studio. In the past I also used Krita though, which is a free option that has a similar feel. I actually work with a few replications of my old krita brushes in clip studio as a funfact!

Admittedly a lot of my Cain art has actually been tests outside of my typical style, as it's been a loooong time since I've done any painterly rendering, but its been a fun exercise thusfar!

My process is basically using a single mid opacity brush (or sometimes genuinely just my textured inking brush) and working with grayscale on one layer before before using a textured blend and then a TON of color passes which I then render on top of. It's a bit of a mess but these are meant to be experimental and less refined than my typical lined work.

I just discovered you on Art Fight and I am FASCINATED. Divine esoteric body horror? With whale fall symbolism 👀👀? HELL YES!! I want to know more about this world now. What are the gods like before they die and how do they die? What does it mean for an angel to be considered a Sanctioned Heresy? Also I love the names for the mechs.

Sorry for taking so long to answer this! Was super excited and honored to get an ask about my blorbo project but had a really hard time gathering my thoughts for actually writing things out haha. I truly cannot thank you enough for sending this ask my way it made my day.

-What are the gods like before they die/how do they die?: The existence of the gods is much more akin to that of an eldritch horror, with what exists of them in our world being like a cut off finger of the larger whole. To interact with the divine is to deal in sacrifice, for everything given something is taken. And as the fabric of our reality is parasitized and distorts in the presence of their corpses, their “death” appears as the result of some unknown exchange, -or gift, given without realizing that its presence is incompatible with our reality.

-What does it mean for an angel to be considered a sanctioned heresy?: Like a bunch of ants given access to a nuclear bomb the people in my setting found the corpses of dead gods and frankenstiened parts them into mechs among other things. Because of this, the initial interactions between humanity and the divine ended up being through the lens of weapons of war. Which, as the divine in my setting is basically a constant unstoppable force of something akin to nuclear radiation, lead to everyone operating them to mutate horribly and "die" fused into the machine, and it very quickly became considered a “heresy” to work with the divine so closely. Angels then, being brought into existence due to the proximity of humanity to a given god’s corpse (being puppets and simulacra of people it grew attached to) became a rare sanctioned reason to interact with these weapons of war. As, while still incredibly dangerous in being the physical manifestations of the divine and in turn having all components of its infection and radiation, under extreme circumstances (and an abundance of precaution in the way of divine seals among other things) they served as a safe*** way to interact with the gods and receive the benefits therein. ***Safe in the same way ignoring a long-term nuclear waste warning sign is. I hope this gave you some answers!!

I didn't get to make as much as I wanted to this year, but I'm really proud of the characters I got to draw and they were all SO epic! These were all incredibly fun to make, I learned so SO much with color and posing and lighting just from switching around my process. I'll absolutely be going after more next year!

week 1 of art fight. i had a sightly late start thanks to life and then i went maybe a touch hard details and didn't have time to do any others this week lol but i had an idea and i had to run with it! absolutely worth it 👏
