I was completely baffled, and when I asked if he’d misspoken, he got really angry and accused me of being deliberately ignorant of the facts. It turned out that he was somehow comvinced that Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were married. It took five Wikipedia articles to convince him otherwise.

Sometimes I remember how much I fucking love Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials. Like this man sat down and wrote a book about a fucking badass female protagonist whose main talent is lying and that’s A GOOD THING. Her ability to lie is a skill, it’s a positive, it saves her life and helps her enrich others lives with the stories she fabricates.

He looked the Christian church canon of women being manipulative deceivers starting with Eve and was like YEAH, SO WHAT?!? And he made a protagonist who embodies that in the most positive way as a fuck you to that bullshit.

Lyra as a character has always meant so fucking much to me and the story as a whole which celebrates conscious thought, making art, and the waves we leave behind, and what people can accomplish when they think for themselves. I just love him.

Literally cannot emphasize enough that my #1 writing advice is to stop being afraid. Stop being afraid of sounding too cringe, or too stupid, or too horrifying, or too horny, or too weird, or too much, or too little, or too you. You need to put your entire pussy into your art. Sure, it won't be to everyone's tastes, but if you keep yourself to the blandest tamest safest roads possible you will be of no one's tastes, not even yours.

hmm, that's a good question!

i believe that, in spite of not being part of the guild himself, armand was the reason that emeri got in with evanus. i don't know why this stuck itself in my mind, but there's something intriguing about the idea that armand has contacts despite not being anyone of any importance. emeri fully believes that the way he got in with evanus was coincidence, and it has absolutely no reason to be within the plot, but it would be cool to me if armand wanted better things for his mate out there

Regarding Elton John, I'm so glad this man gets to be given his flowers while he's alive. That his songs get new relevance via covers/remixes with younger artists. That he got to oversee his own biopic. That he's able to perform with a new generation of queer performers after spending decades being one of the few out gay men in the music industry. Man's a queer elder and helped pave the way for other LGBTQ+ artists, and I'm glad he gets to not just see but revel in his effect on the world.

Here is a Summary for a story I will probably never write.

Duke/Miss Holloway and John MacNamara/Wilbur Cross dual role swap au.

If there was one constant among the multiple universe’s it was that empowered and cursed by the powers of the black Holloway and Wiley fought until one of them died. It was true in all the universes except for this one. This universe was the outlier. In this universe Wilbur Cross did not step through the portal to be tortured and changed into Wiley, leaving his partner John MacNamara to grieve and attempt to protect their world. In this universe Darlene Holloway did not make a deal with the Lords in Black to become a powerful, immortal champion who would never be remembered by her true love Douglas “Duke” Keane. In this world John was the one who walked into the black and was twisted and turned, his optimism crushed and his soul fragmented. In this world it was Duke who turned to the lords in desperation and was rewarded with the ability to help and robbed of the chance to make a permanent impression.
