“You know...this place kinda gives me the same vibes as the monastery. Has its troubles, but they feel weirdly separate from anything going on outside the walls.” She hums, thoughtful as she trims through a large, whole deer hide with a blade. Stretches it out, massages a layer of salt into it, and continues that without having to think too much about something that’s at this point muscle memory. She’d spared Claude the whereabouts of the rest of the animal, but this part could take a while and it was nice having someone familiar to talk to.

“Never have to worry about going hungry or being homeless, at least from what I can tell. Seems unreal. I have trouble trusting it, y’know?”  Then again, what did she know? “Be different if it weren’t so many people in such a small space. Just how do they manage to feed everyone? Where does everything come from?”

“Damn, I’m going to have to do better next time. You must know a lot about the area to bring in a haul like that.” Leonie’s expression is an open book mixture of envy, awe, and thoughtfulness. She’s referring to what Kanae is carrying; though not obvious to the eye, the smell was a dead giveaway. Did they secure that in just a morning? How early were they up? Did the fauna here obey the same rules as back home? She couldn’t imagine why they wouldn’t considering much of it was similar, but for some reason this person seemed to have better luck of it than she had had. 

...no, it wasn’t luck. Luck had very little to do with anything, and saying otherwise was an insult. No, there was something else at work here. Why get so much for just one person? Was this guy feeding a family?  

“Those are some expensive hunting clothes, too. What’s the point of worrying about appearances if you’re just going to get dirty anyway?”

They serve pretty big portions here but it shouldn’t go to waste if you got full.” The kid looked pretty thin so she wouldn’t be surprised if that contributed, but Leonie suspected something different might be at play here. Either way, she wasn’t about to let him throw away such a good plate over a lost appetite. “Can I help?”

A little sigh slipped past Momiji’s lips as he wanders around the Golden Ward, utterly lost. As he’d been assigned an apartment there, he had figured earlier that he should get to know the area a little bit, but his attempt to find the local mall had ended in him taking two wrong turns and ending up very lost indeed.

He approaches a woman who looks–nice? Capable? Something. She looks like she’s a very capable person, in a way that reminds him, maybe, of Hatori and… well, best not to think too hard about people who aren’t there, can’t help him. He approaches her slowly, shyly. “There’s supposed to be a mall around here, right? All these streets are so easy to get turned around in!”

Leonie blinks, surprised to see someone so...was normal the word? His clothes were strange, but not the strangest she’d seen in her short time here. And he was just a kid, right? Did that mean stray kids were running around? These captors certainly were weird ones, weren’t they.

“A mall?” she’s not entirely sure what that is or what it means to them, but can only assume it’s some kind of landmark. Leonie pulls out her map of the place, laying it out against a shop wall at eye-level. “C’mon, help me find it. This is supposed to have the whole ward.” she bites the inside of her lip, humming thoughtfully before pointing. “Oh! Here’s our current location. You can tell because there’s an apothecary near by, see?” turning around, she gestures at the pharmacy opposite to them on the street.

“Why are you looking for this mall, anyway? What is it?”

➻ verdant wind route, post-war. before she got plucked into spirale, she spent her days traveling with a troupe of famous mercenaries and finally got to live her childhood dream. ➻ resident jack of all trades. she’ll try anything, anything, if it’s deemed useful to the mission at hand or longtime survivability. ➻ a jock who enjoys the arts and broadening her horizons. can’t draw to save her life though.   ➻ the type to carry 10 grocery bags at once because “i WILL get it all in one trip“ ➻ while not someone who cheats, leonie is willing to use indirect tactics if it secures a meal or a victory.  ➻ ”sometimes I wish I had bigger muscles “ ➻ the type to encourage you to take pride in your craft, no matter what it is. if you enjoy it, it’s a strength worth honing. ➻ more than a bit of a temper when not in her element. prideful, but not too much that she isn’t willing to apologize for slips like that. ➻ master multitasker. can usually be seen training on the go.  ➻ fuck your economic status there’s work to do lol ➻ can perform neat feats of strength/agility on her horse!!  ➻ bit of a hoarder due to a poor upbringing, but it’s hard to tell because she does actually use everything she keeps.
