While Afterlife is not currently accepting applications, we are actively undergoing a revamp! We don't have a set reopening date just yet, but I promise we are hard at work. If you want to stay in the loop, give us a follow! We will be posting updates and sneak peeks at upcoming changes as they become available.

Goooood morning, Afterlife lurkers! Admin Josie coming to you live with an important announcement. 

I know it's been quiet on the main for a little while, but I wanted to be completely transparent and give you all an update on some things happening behind the scenes. Admin Sie has decided to step down from running the group, but she has given me permission to take up the reins in her stead, and I intend to do just that! 

Though our numbers are small, I’m not ready to let go of the characters, connections, and community we’ve been able to build here--and I’d love for you to still have the chance to be a part of that!

There will be a lot of changes happening as we lean more into the supernatural aspect of the group’s plot, including adjustments to group guidelines, graphics, lore and overall plot. It’s for this reason that beginning today, we will be closing the submit box to new applications.

Updates will be posted here on the main as we get closer to unveiling the finished product, but until then, if you have any questions or want to reach out, feel free to message me here!

We would love to see any of those lovely ladies join us, but some of our members have expressed a great interest in having Leah Lewis and Levy Tran around! 

Leah is definitely in the age range to be one of the Scooby Doo Crew or one of the Camp Survivors, but she could also be a college student, an intern at city hall, a tattoo apprentice, an online content creator, a baker, or a cemetery groundskeeper. 

Levy is in the age range to be Mel Thurman’s drug supplier, or David Marquez’s handler at Vanguard, but she could also be the owner of the Northpass Motel, a farmer, a firefighter, a mechanic, a teacher / school principal, a florist, or a delivery driver of some sort!

Your Idea of the Character: (TW: Car accident, death)

The Scooby Doo Crew are mid-twenties-year-olds who have known each other since they were teens, some maybe longer. 

They might not seem like a usual group of friends, but they all found a way to connect with each other. They would look into haunted places, try and solve crimes, and seek answers to the unexplained--or expose corruptness.

When Vanguard moved into Northpass, the Scooby Crew were among the protesters that didn’t want the lab in town and were suspicious when their petition was denied.

In January of 2020, one of the Scooby-Doo Crew accompanied Nancy when she went to confront Vanguard and perished in the car accident. Neither remember how they died, but the rest of the crew certainly does. Taken by Rosemary.

Potential Plans & Headcanons:

After people started getting sick, Nancy’s job asked her to look into the pharmaceutical company and see what kind of story was there. She began snooping around and learned through an anonymous tip that the water company is the key. The investigation led to her breaking into the water company, and stealing a copy of their water testing results. Nancy does not remember where she hid this crucial piece of evidence, so she might need her close friends to help her retrace her steps.

Along with another member of the Scooby Crew (Rosemary Korbinian), Nancy decides to confront Vanguard with the evidence and they deny her claims. Neither would make it home; they would die in a car accident. Two years passed before Nancy opened her eyes again and began to remember her name. She didn’t immediately remember how or why she died, or that she’s the reason one of her friends died that night, too.

Basically, I’m looking for the rest of the Scooby Doo Crew. We can figure out what sort of stuff they got involved in more detail in a group chat or something when more get taken!! I’m also game for weaving in crushes on one another, dating, exes, etc. as well but figured that might be best left up to group discussion and character chemistry! I had a thought that perhaps the friend that went with Nancy had some sort of feelings for her, but totally doesn’t have to!

I just thought it would also be fun to explore the dynamic of friends grieving over the friends they lost only to get them back alongside the dynamic of those two coming back to life again and getting a second chance. Nancy is certainly going to feel like it’s her fault that one of them died along with her even though it was an accident.

Your Idea of the Character:

I’m super open to this character and their backstory. This person is probably pretty high up in the Vanguard hierarchy (up to you on the specific position). They’ve probably been involved with the company for a long time. 

They found David when he was trying to find a way to get treatment for his younger sister who was sick. With David being young and desperate, they took advantage of the situation. They offered an experimental treatment to David for his sister. When David said he couldn’t pay, they suggested he work off his debt by joining the company as a security specialist. They’re kind of a mentor to David and while they are strict, they may actually care for David in a weird way (or not, up to you!). They are concerned about David’s loyalty and try to make sure to keep him on a short leash. They give David all his assignments, which included messing with the brakes on Nancy’s car, which caused her death.

Potential Plans & Headcanons:

They will probably drive a wedge between David and his girlfriend, Cordelia, who is the sister of one of his targets. They’re probably going to be the devil on his shoulder and keep bringing up the fact that they (Vanguard) saved his sister to keep him under the company’s control. On top of that, David basically committed a murder for them and they can hold that over him as well.

It could be interesting if they would or would never defect from Vanguard. Could they know something more about what Vanguard is planning? How do they feel about the Reborn? Could their loyalty to the company be wavering as well? How far will they go for the company? What happens if David doesn’t follow their rules and goes against the company? What will they do to him or Cordelia?

It could be interesting if they ended up joining Vanguard because of the same reasons David did, such as joining to save a friend, significant other, or family member’s life with Vanguard’s drugs.

DAVID MARQUEZ is looking for HIS SISTER.

Character Name: Andrea Marquez

Age: 24

Status: Alive / Human

Type of Connection: Younger Sister

Suggested FCs: It’ll be difficult to have a full match to Sean Teale’s ethnicity. I wouldn’t necessarily want a plot about whether his sister is his full or half sibling, so maybe one of his parents got remarried and they had her or she was adopted. That can be hashed out depending on the FC chosen. :)

Venezuelan or half white/half Latine options are Daniela Nieves, Amanda Arcuri, Alexxis Lemire.

Your Idea of the Character:

I’m super open to any ideas for Andrea. The most important thing is that Andrea fell ill when she was 13 and was unable to get treatment as her family struggled with paying for healthcare. Her brother joined the military in hopes of getting health benefits but was discharged. Her illness was difficult to treat in general and her brother made a deal with someone at Vanguard Pharmaceuticals who offered an experimental treatment to cure her. She went into remission, but I imagine she lost a lot of her teenage years. 

Andrea is now 24 and I’m open to why she’s here in Northpass whether she’s passing through, attending school, starting a new job, or simply moving to reunite with her brother as he’s somewhat lost contact with her (they used to be pretty close).

Potential Plans & Headcanons:

Since Andrea probably lost a lot of her teenage years, I imagine she’s pretty rebellious and/or adventurous. She doesn’t want to live a sheltered life and wants to get out there to live life to the fullest. Their parents are probably overprotective, and David will be protective too.

Potentially, maybe her illness comes back or she’s very worried her illness will come back. If her illness were to come back, she’d have to make big decisions.

David doesn’t really tell anyone what he does for Vanguard Pharmaceuticals and beyond Andrea knowing he works there, she doesn’t know what he does. She could be all for them since they helped treat her, but maybe her views change once she gets to town and learns about what’s happened.

She could have been sent to investigate Vanguard and maybe she tries to reunite with her brother to find out what he’s been doing with the company so she can report on them.

Your Idea of the Character:

The general idea is that this is a Vanguard employee is very much in charge of keeping a careful eye on Cordelia's brother, Beck. Think of that fun little FBI agent joke- except it's honestly kind of real. Somehow while surveilling Beck, him and Cordelia got in contact and one thing has led to another and they're in a relationship.

Sometimes life laughs you in the face and you have to adapt accordingly, and that's kind of  hilarious in it's own way. I'm unsure if he has told Cordi what he actually does for Vanguard but she does know he works for Vanguard on some kind of security basis and that's about it. It's entirely up to you if you think he would've told her about it and if that is something they're trying to figure out and overcome. (Bonus points if he was somehow a bit of a anchor to her absolute everywhere-personality. Less likely to do impulse choices, her anchor.)

Potential Plans & Headcanons:

The general thought is just for there to be a lot of conflict (both funny and actually sad/rough) between Cordi, her fiancé and her brother. At some point Beck will be finding out his sisters boyfriend works for Vanguard and if he figures out the guy is watching him- well that's a hurdle for then.

I imagine they're a pretty stable relationship though, like- fully enamored  in each other and all of that true love stuff that people write about in romcoms kinda situation. I can see them being very ready to have a life together even if Cordi is super unable to keep a stable job and the guy working for Vanguard (be it because he wants to or because he has to).

I want that fluffy angsty couple that overcomes hurdles because they love each other even if it makes NO sense that they're  together.

Your Idea of the Character:

Cordelia is the second of Claudia Beckett’s five children. After her are the twins, Cal and Caitlin (24), and the baby of the family, Chris (21).

Growing up with a single working mother, Caleb found himself being more of a parent than a brother to his younger siblings. For the majority of their young lives, this included Cordelia.

The Beckett Bunch moved to Northpass from southeastern Wisconsin roughly fifteen years ago, just before Beck started high school. 

Being closest in age, Beck was a little closer with Cordelia than he was with his younger siblings. She looked out for him while he watched over all of them, and probably forced him to get out of the house and do Something on more than occasion while she watched the younger ones. She is most likely his closest confidant--whether he is for her is up to you!

Their mother’s new employer was Vanguard Pharmaceuticals, something Beck didn’t find out about until construction of the lab began in Northpass. Beck himself is very anti-Vanguard, Cordelia’s stance is entirely up to you.

While Beck stayed in Northpass, the youngest Beckett siblings all got out of Northpass as soon as they graduated high school to embark on their various pursuits in life. They come home most holidays, but can always be found roasting Beck in his Instagram comment section. Whether Cordelia left and came back, or stayed is up to you.

For some reason I’m envisioning her being engaged, or at least about-to-be-proposed-to, but of course that’s also entirely up to you!

Potential Plans & Headcanons:

As far as plots go, I’m looking forward to a lot of sibling bonding and perchance some angst. Beck’s kind of been on an island of his own and internalized a lot of shit. His friends have died, almost died, and died and come back to life, and that’s a lot. Like, a lot.

On a much lighter note, Beck loves going out and having fun. Roller skating, karaoke, and game nights are his favorite, and he will drag his little sister along if given the opportunity.
