Hello Friends, We have rescheduled the remix from fall to spring to hopefully have less interference with other events. There will be more information as we get closer to the event. For now, check the FAQ for more info and read any past submissions.

What is a remix? You’ve probably heard of song remixes, and this is the fic version. Have you ever read a fic and thought ‘If I’d written it, I’d have done it like this…’? Well, this is your chance to write your version. Like a gift exchange, a remix matches you with another writer from the fandom. Only in this case you get to dive into their already published fics and come up with your own version. You can change the length, the mood, the POV character, whatever you want. The only two things you have to keep the same are the character/pairing and basic plotline—otherwise it’s a whole new fic, and not a remix.

What is required? You are signing up to produce and receive a remix fic between 1500 and 5000 words. You must have at least three eligible fics of between 1500 and 5000 words, so there are choices for whoever gets assigned to remix your work. Just a quick question: While I have more than enough fics between 1,5k and 5k words, I also have a lot of <1,5k fics and I would be absolutely thrilled if someone picked one of them and remixed them. I think some of them would have great potential.

Would it be allowed (and possible) to leave a note that I would be totally cool with someone picking a <1,5k fic of mine?

Hey! We'll give a little bit of leeway when it comes to picking the fic, but we'd really prefer everyone pick a fic within 250 words of the minimum or maximum. For one thing, it helps your gifter to narrow it down. If someone really wants to remix a fic outside those boundaries, they can ask and we'll answer on a case by case basis. They are still required to write a fic between 1500 and 5000 words regardless of the length of the inspiring fic.

Hello I have two very important questions for you: will there be another remix this year and do you count collaborative works because otherwise I have nothing under 5,000 words I am incapable but I love this idea so much.

So here's the thing, I (@leahlisabeth ) am currently having a baby and working many more hours per week than I was the last time I ran this, so I've been taking a step back from a lot of my modding. I can speak for @gluupor , but I'd be willing to pass it on to someone if they want to run it. It is a fun event and I would hate to see it go.

For the second question, it would be up to whoever takes over.

Part of him worried that he’d wake up someday to find this had all been a desperate fever dream, and he was still on the run, or worse, he’d been caught and this was the last ditch attempt of a broken mind to find solace.

He breathed in. He could smell the earth, baking in the sun and the scent of coffee drifting from the kitchen window. He could hear a bird, twittering from a vine on the side of the house, and a crashing sound from upstairs. He could feel the ground, solid under his feet, holding him up, and the breeze from the mountains ruffling his hair. He could see the mountains, the blue sky, the puffy white clouds.
