I have what I hope will be a fun little surprise theme for my April doodles - so I drew a(nother) thing for @anon-lemon stray cat Neil au because I still ABSOLUTELY ADORE it

Andrew knows the dangers of falling for the tummy scratches trick

Andrew had shit to do this afternoon, but for the past hour, he’s been trapped in a beanbag chair by Neil’s sleeping body weight. He doesn’t even have the remote in reaching distance, so he can’t change the channel away from ESPN.

Neil — whose legs are across Andrew’s lap — is going to be so mad when Andrew fails his sociology paper and gets kicked off the team because their captain couldn’t locate his own mattress.

Whatever. Neil’s head is on his shoulder, so Andrew amuses himself by wrapping a particularly ringlet-y curl of Neil’s around his finger and stretching it, letting it spring back into place again and again. Neil’s arm is draped loosely over Andrew’s middle, so Andrew keeps two fingers pressed to his wrist, lulled into patience by the steady beat of Neil’s pulse.

Suddenly, Neil twitches. A short, startled whine punches out of parted lips, muffled against Andrew’s collarbone.

“Neil,” Andrew says firmly, and Neil curls in toward the sound of his voice, fingers gripping at the fabric of Andrew’s shirt.

“Baby gator bit my ankle,” Neil mumbles.

Andrew, who had been steeling himself for the resurgence of a gory memory or a dream-induced panic attack, finds himself huffing in amusement.

“No, it didn’t,” Andrew says.

The tension bleeds out of Neil immediately.

“Oh,” he says, and then his breathing evens out once again.

When Andrew looks up, Kevin’s imperious face is on the screen — ESPN has decided to torture Andrew with a segment on the National Exy League’s star rookie. Andrew sighs, rests his cheek on the top of Neil’s head, and resigns himself to the reality of the moment.

Neil as a Raven is the most unsettling thing you could ever think of. He’s a guy who would stare a Lot. A silent stare. That butcher look that he wears? Yeah, that constantly. Some guy who plays with knives for fun and likes mind games.

And then you get him outside the Nest and he’s not only unsettling but super annoying and childish. He knows how to dress but purposely dresses terribly as a resistence against the Nest. Andrew would fall for him easily.

drinking a four loko (esp cause they had the *real* ones back then)

helping a friend yack/being the friend yacking/both/both at once

drunk compliments (this is a girl thing but I feel like Jean would do it to)

accidentally crying in a professors office hours

going to a game (any sport really) and screaming for your school's team

quiet late night moments where everyone gets surprisingly deep

Writers will come up with a prompt and start writing as soon as they think of it. It’ll be submitted between the 28th and 30th of March, so you have plenty of time to think of one if you’re not 100% sure or you’re on the fence about a few different ideas.

my mom gives me up as a child and I spend years being abused in foster houses? I wouldn’t try to live long enough to see if life prepared sth better for me in the future. my father is a fucking serial killer, I spend years on a run and then I have to burn my mother’s body and bury her bones? putting a gun in my mouth immediately. I spend years in a fucking cult where my entire life evolves around my ability to play a sport and my hand gets literally fucking crushed?????? I would not stay alive long enough to hear the official diagnosis, dipping immediately what the fuck
