electromagneticbennett:
He had been trying so hard to be nice for once. To stay calm, to talk her out of her own head that she loved to get caught up in. And for a split second, he thought he had managed to do that. But of course, no one could get through her thick skull. She’d rather cut off her own hand than let anyone in. Which, he didn’t want to. Just for her to calm the hell down for once and approach an issue calmly instead of jumping head first into everything she touched. Pinching the bridge of his nose, sighing obnoxiously loud as his head rolled back. “So, after all, it is getting the kid first then working their way up the levels?” Bennet asked almost annoyedly, his usually attitude peaking through.
“For fucks sake, Summers. We can only do so much, we can’t be on the spot every single time a kid gets their powers and it falls into the wrong hands. Wishful thinking, sure. But that’s not how the world works. We save only a small percentage of the kids that actually are in those situations. A handful, at best. Don’t make us sound more heroic than we actually are. We’re barely scratching the surface.” Bennett took a step back, shaking his head. “Crush dreams. Go ahead then, live in your little world where you’ll save every last soul on this planet. As long as you don’t get your team killed because you put their lives at risk.”
“Wait,” Cass started, stepping forward so she could place the tablet and folders he had handed to her on the table. She took the time to flip the holotable off, gathering her thoughts so she didn’t inevitably blow up. Bennett had this way of talking down to her no matter what option she went with. Her brash, run in and be a little on the offensive side? It was irrational- too dangerous. Taking his advice and doing things in a manner that he brought up? Something was wrong with that too for some reason “You’re actually mad that I’m taking your advice? Like, legitimately mad about this?” Cass was never someone who backed down from something- it was in her overly stubborn nature especially when it was something she truly believed in “You are unbelievable”
And again she found herself being lectured by a man who had no place to lecture her. He wasn’t her superior anymore, they were equals, both level threes and both within the same job for their unique abilities to be able to do what they did. If she wanted to strive to be all she could possibly be- save and help as many people as possible that was her prerogative but as usual, Agent Greyson took it too far. Much too far. Her jaw clenched, the muscles straining as she took a step forward to violate that bubble of space he loved so much. A subtle rumbling could be felt under their feet- not enough that most would notice but Cassandra did “My teams know what they’re in for before they walk through this door- all of our teams do. This job doesn’t have a guaranteed lifespan of eight-plus years but you know for a fact that I would never send them in for a massacre- why the hell else do you think I would even bother to ask for you and your smug ass to look at this map? It certainly wasn’t for your company.”

stellabenoitx:
Something about Cassandra’s particular word choice triggered Stella’s next thought process, “Okay, so… possibly someone we trained and let go? I mean, they’d have some general concept of containment layout and the like. There’s training, just a floor under weaponry? That’s not too far off a course within the building they might have been familiar with before transitioned back out into the world. They’d have been always accompanied by agents, and seen one use a keycard likely to access containment.” To be fair, Stella didn’t know what measure Atlas took to make metahumans released by the program less of a liability. She had to assume it couldn’t be as easy as she was currently making it sound, to learn certain aspects of their innerworkings.
Suddenly, Stella was looking around them– “Wait, you’ve been with Atlas since before Project Gaia started, right? Did they use the hub, or was it newly built specifically for our operations? Surely Atlas lost agents who might not have agreed with incorporating metahumans into its infrastructure? What if we’re being set up by someone with a grudge from before this department was developed. What if, they just want to make it look like we can’t be trusted… like we’re a liability. Intentionally causing all this tension, trying to get us to turn on one another or something elaborate of that like…”
“I mean, I wouldn’t rule that out as an option, that’s for sure” Cass agreed, knowing full well that not everyone was a fan of what this company did. The thing about global orginizations was that no matter what or why they did something, there would always be people who were against them. Humans who believed that all enhanced should be locked away where they couldn’t potentially do anything to harm anyone- metahumans who didn’t think they needed any sort of help. Atlas didn’t really ask permission of these people, after all. They just picked them up out of the blue and did what they did best. Those within Project Gaia all understood that this was for the best but that wasn’t how everyone would see it.
“Uuh,” The girl wracked her brain, trying to think back to before all of this happened. She remembered the whispers in and around her old place of residence, some agreeing and some being outright offended by the mere thought “It wouldn’t be completely unrealistic- but metahumans were involved in this, right? I don’t see why any metahuman would be upset with the fact that Atlas gave them a job where they could help and assist their own kind” Cass paused, her thumb brushing over her lower lip as she continued to think about that theory “Besides, this facility was built specifically for us and our operation- brand spankin’ new from what I know”

“Why couldn’t we get assigned to like- Hawaii or Figi or something” A puff of air was visible in front of her mouth for a moment as she spoke, quickly disappearing before another came into view from her exhale. The jacket she wore, the Atlas logo proudly represented on her sleeve, was zipped up as far as it could go to help defend her from the cool Alaskan air. A jacket that would be left in the small building they were currently in, going over last minute changes for their initial plan.
Amalia Ward had been her assigned partner and the woman she had been spending the better part of twenty-four hours in the Alaskan spring with. No, it was far from her first choice for a teammate. In fact, Malia wasn’t even on her list of people she would ever choose to be on a secluded, intimate mission with but it was what she had to work with and at the end of the day she couldn’t deny the fact that the woman was a good agent.
“Okay look,” she started, showing her partner the screen of the tablet she was carrying “This is going to be the best point of entry- since there is only two of us we’re not going to split up, I trust you and your abilities but we can’t be totally sure how many people are in there” They were looking at a live feed from a drone that was examining and documenting the outside of the building, relaying back to them what the safest points of entry were. With a swipe of her finger, Cass brought up the mug shot of a man, not much other than either of them “This is the only person we’re going to take out if we can help it. Thomas Horne- not a good guy in the slightest- a little on the murdery side and the suspected leader of this rat pack. We take him out and the others should go scurrying back home to mommy. In theory, anyway”

lara-graham:
After spending the last three hours researching types of rubber that could possibly deter an electrokinetic and add an extra layer of security, Lara’s brain was turning into mush. Her eyes glazed over as she rubbed her temples and shoved the scientific journal to the side, finding their conclusions on polyurethane and electric pulses ludicrous. Placing all of her notes on the subject into a file, she left the lab for the first time that day, her stomach complaining to her the minute she took a moment to breath.
“Oh shut up,” she grumbled as she made her way to the mess hall. With her feet planted firmly on the ground for the first time since she stepped into the laboratory that morning, she felt smaller and the hunger pains that had steadily began to increase were the only things that kept her from hovering in the air once again. Three floors later and she was in the mess hall, grabbing a tray and immediately stuffing a dinner roll in her mouth. Common sense told her that she should not eat too quickly given her unintentional fast, but that didn’t stop her from piling as much food as she could on her plate.
She glanced at the person in front of her in line and shrugged guiltily. “First meal of the day,” she explained, as she got another scoop of mashed potatoes.
Cass reached for the tongs to begin piling a plate with salad she would inevitably cover with too much ranch to qualify it as a healthy choice. Meal time was arguably one of her favourite times of the day especially with all the restrictions happening. Sometimes it was the only time she had a chance to see friends who worked on opposite shifts to her or those who, like her, worked a little too much at times. Her eyes landed on the spoon that was being used to dish out enough potatoes to feed a small army, a bright grin spreading across her face as the woman turned to defend herself “By all means- create mount Everest on your plate” she stated, casually waiting for her own turn as Lara continued to pile food onto her plate “But also save some for the rest of us- you need to get out of the lab more, you realise?”

malia-ward:
As if time and space were always opposing her, the source of today’s irritation was apparently going to be Cassandra Summers. A woman Malia didn’t particularly care for but one she seemed to see more often than not. She could say the same about most people in the Hub but this specific woman was one of her favorites so she’d try to make the most of today’s interaction. Only because she knew the other disliked her and that meant she could have some fun with whatever they needed. Which seemed to actually revolve around something she knew a thing or two about.
“How long have you been doing this Agent Summers?” Her tone was condescending with matched the equally smug expression on her face. Why answer right away when you can make something as painful as possible. She instead turned to finish packing up the equipment before slowly making her way back over to the brunette. “You’d have thought we’d be past the babying steps but fine, I’ll hold your hand if I must.”
“Like every other time, you get a week in advance. So if you want to do this time next week, you have from now until the day before to sign up.” She rattled off the same rules that had been memorized since day one. “Do I need to put you down on the list too or are you done being coddled?”
Cassandra’s brow furrowed slightly at the tone Malia took with her, and air of confusion taking over her usual bubbly mood. The snappy, condescending tone totally took away from the benefits the class even offered- the meditation to clear her mind or whatever it was for “This? As in taking a yoga class?” She asked, genuinely confused as to why the woman insisted on being such an incredible bitch. She understood that Malia didn’t like her, hell, the feelings were mutual but Cass tried to make it work because they did work together “Never- I have never taken one of these classes but it’s cute you think I have. Can’t get me out of your mind? I mean, I’m flattered but you’re not really my type”
“It was just a question, Ward- you don’t need to prove you’re some sort of alpha female” She paused, looking at the sign-up sheet she was referring to. This wasn’t something Cass did. She much preferred to be using her time a little more productively but with the new clearances that wasn't as easy as it used to be so she had a little spare time on her hands, figured she’d give the class a shot and actually enjoyed it until this moment. “While I have you here I should let you know in person you’re off the Vienna mission”

electromagneticbennett:
“It’s a risk you have to take. The chances of him possibly hurting himself in the process are there but even if he does, we can help him. Atlas is specialized in these sort of things and you know that. This is the best shot at a normal life he can get and it’s worth the risk.” Once more, as if to find an easy answer, Bennett picked up the files. Briefly flipped through the details he had read over previously, trying to see if they might’ve missed something. A detail or a loophole that was masked by more obvious information. Yet he found nothing. “Can you get a telepath on your team? Possibly to exchange the telekinetic, if possible.” His eyes moved to her face, watching as Cassandra tried to rub the tiredness out of her eyes. She obsessed over her cases. She tired herself for days if needed, if it meant someone else would be safe. Bennett often spoke nothing but badly about her, fought with the women at any given time. But he knew to appreciate her passion for what she did. No, for the people she fought for.
But that was also the problem. Often times, she’d lose herself in information and plans, sought answers where none were. Pushed herself into her work until her body shut off. Just like she did in that moment. His hands grabbed her by the shoulders, not hard enough to hurt but hard enough to ground her. “No one stays a kid for long when they’re thrown into this mess. You’ll stay back, let your team retrieve him and Atlas will make sure that he stays alive. That’s the plan, that’s what you’ll stick to. You can’t save everyone, Cass. Stop putting everyone’s faith into your hands. Trust your team. Trust him to get through this.” He dropped his hands from her shoulders to take a step back. The tablet was handed to her, alongside the files on the case. “This is enough for today.”
Cass hated nothing more than when he was right and she couldn’t argue against him. She knew this was the reason she even asked for his opinion but it still annoyed the ever living shit out of her. Two years of working with him and their egos were still the most powerful thing between the two of them. “Okay but,” Cass started, once more looking at the blueprints that were up in front of them trying to figure out the best and safest route to take “The get into the basement- put the kid to sleep so he can’t make any noise or do anything- the phaser should be able to phase him through and get him to the plane while the others make their way upstairs” She hated relying on someone’s abilities in a mission. They were meant to be something to help them along, not something to base an entire missions success on one person.
Bennett pulled her out of her trance, his hands gripping her shoulders in an uncharacteristic gesture. Large eyes stared back at him, head slowly bobbing in a nod before switching to a firm shake of the head in rejection of his opinion “No- that’s not the way it has to be- that’s why we exist, it’s why we do what we do so kids like him don’t have to grow up too fast” She shrugged off his hands, taking a step back and putting some distance between them. Whatever he believed was wrong- everyone had the chance to live they life they wanted and their gifts shouldn’t condemn a thirteen-year-old boy who had barely had a chance to live “Our guys go out in two hours. We’ve got a small window in order to make this work- so thank you for your help but you can go do whatever it is you do in your spare time. Punch things, scowl at people and like, crush dreams or whatever.”

stellabenoitx:
“Oh, but it can be.” Stella contradicted in her own all too opinionated manner. “Where there is a will, there is always a way. Cloning technologies, people whose abilities might be able to manipulate the implant. Perfection isn’t an option, even for us here at Atlas. Should measures be taken? Yes, of course, but there is never going to be a foolproof solution. Even if they replaced us all with robots, those would be prone to glitches. That’s just the way the world works.” A shrug decorated Stella’s shoulders. The importance of their security is not lost on her, but she’s just inclined to know there will be other hiccups down the road. There always would be, no matter what measures they took.
“When don’t I?” Stella echoed, raising an amused eyebrow in cassandra’s direction. “Oh, see, prefacing the information with ‘hacked’ is always a good start.” Another small laugh escaped her, settling onto the bed as well to give her friend her proper full attention. “Total control? So, you’d presume it wouldn’t be someone from the pit then– huh. That is odd. They fried the unit? What’s bugging me about this whole thing, is how they knew where to locate these things. The units I can understand, but the generators and the weapons storage?”
“This is why you’re my favourite” Cassie beamed as she pulled one of the million pillows she kept onto her bed into her lap. The Hub had been a-buzz recently with rumours and theories- angry agents and worried agents alike. That kind of this was expected with a security breach and while Stella was right, that it didn’t matter what they did if someone wanted into their facility they would find away, the recent security enhancements would help. No matter what anyone said. But that was a topic that could be argued to death and it was something that was completely out of their hands.
“Yeah- like completely percise, knew what they were doing kind of control” Cass knew well enough what untrained or unruly powers could do. Her own were extremely dangerous without proper training “Totally fried, electrokinetic which means it’s safe to assume that the other types they wanted to talk to- someone like that must have been involved” Cass paused for a moment, mind wandering as she wracked her brain “I think I’m more worried about the why- I get the generators but why go for the weapons? Why not research or engineering? Obviously this wasn’t just a fluke thing- someone planned this well enough to succeed getting into one of the best guarded buildings in the world”

televas:
Eva let out an audible laugh at that. She wasn’t wrong. The telepath didn’t kiss any ass, and certainly took her time doing her job. She would be the first to admit that Cass was better all around; there was no denying that Eva was hardly suited for the job of an agent. But holding on to Atlas gave her some sense of normalcy. The other agents didn’t give her weird looks because they knew what she could do, and she didn’t have to worry about accidentally outing herself and having to make a run for it. This was the best place for her, and she had decided that months ago.
“Look at you go! So fiery. Love it.” As she spoke, Eva reached out one hand to give Cass a light punch to the shoulder. Immediately after, she began to turn her mind’s focus on picking out Cass’ thoughts among the crowd of people surrounding them, knowing full well that this was an invasion of privacy, but going for it all the same. “I’m getting some real strong feelings of dislike here, Cassandra. Could it be that you don’t like me?” She gave a mock frown to highlight her comment.
Cass offered Eva nothing more than a sarcastic smile, little to no warmth in her usually beaming face at the backhanded compliment she was offered. She knew that Eva held a level of distaste for her simply due to the fact that she actually did her job and pushed others to do the same. Cassandra wasn’t fond of people who didn’t- they were there for a reason and when someone wasn’t pulling their weight it was pushed onto other agents who, more often than not, already had full plates “No powers- new rules remember. Unless we’re on mission or whatever else” Cass commented in relation to the newest rule changes, one more thing she was sure people were furious about “And even if that wasn’t a rule stay the hell out of my head”

tane-pelesa:
“And I love your brutal honesty.” A chuckle came from Tane once he said that, as he knew she wasn’t there to hurt him or make him feel like some kind of outsider. At least she didn’t think he was a literal freak of nature. “I also think I do a pretty good job of not smelling like I love nature.” He took pride in the way he smelled because there was always this negative connotation with people such as himself.
He shrugged. “I can’t complain about anything you say because you actually take the time to pronounce my last name correctly.” He had this habit of mentioning a detail that was never relevant or brought up in a conversation, that was just the way he was for some reason. The reaction on her face with his technology was priceless, one that he hoped would be able to wow everyone else.
The photo of her was outdated, and that could be his next project involving updating older pictures. Projects were often random ideas he would come up with out of either boredom or curiosity. Since this facility was pretty much his life he had a lot of time to work on them. He shrugged at her question, not really knowing how everyone else wanted to use it. “Right now this is just..my thing. I’m hoping to possible put these cameras on birds and use them for whenever we may need to scout out a metahuman. I’m working on another project that can detect abilities being actively used using infared and biomedical technology. They rely heavily on drones that many people are becoming more and more aware that they are out of place. Traditional methods..I believe would help more, you know?”
“Wouldn’t putting cameras on drones be more practicable for the majority of agents?” She asked, bright eyes glancing up at the redhead from the tablet he was showing her. She was inquisitive at times, liked to look at the bigger picture- it was how she was trained and turned into something that she simply took to day to day life “I mean birds are a little more sneaky but I know they’ve got some cool things in the works on their side of the lab this would just be-” Cass paused for a moment, her gazing falling back down to the project he had shown her as she examined it. This combined with some of the things other people have been working on would be amazing “Why aren’t you in engineering? Wouldn’t your talents be better used with them than with metahuman research?”

stellabenoitx:
“Yeah, that.” Stella somewhat laughed, not because the circumstances were the least bit amusing but more so because it’s such a casual thing the way Cassandra says it. Stella turned her wrist as well in show, officially tagged just as every other agent now was. “I’m not exactly sure I saw implants coming. The summons, the rules being cracked down on, a change in our interface system but– I guess it still just seems like a bit of an overstep I didn’t necessarily see Atlas taking with us.”
Then again, the pit existed, and somehow that itself perhaps hinted towards what Atlas was willing to do whenever push came to shove. “No, sadly, I haven’t. You’d think so, that they must know more than what’s being said.” Stella nodded along a bit pensively. “I’m not guessing he’ll be a wealth of information during my interrogation either. Despite how tempted I might end up being to ask where exactly director Hall was during the blackout.” Stella was loyal to the goal of project gaia, and she genuinely respected the director but she wasn’t blindly optimistic enough to believe that he was necessarily anymore above corruption than the agents themselves were. They were only ‘human’ (or, well, not quite), in no certain terms. They all had their flaws.
“We’re the wall that protects people from the bad eggs- this place- it can’t be compromised again the way it was” Cass was trusting, maybe too much so. Where some people would question something like this she was strangely okay with it. Well, not okay but she saw it from the perspective their higher ups did. Of course, she would have preferred not to have a tiny piece of machinery embedded in her body but whatever was best for Project Gaia was something she would simply accept.
“Do you want to know a secret?” She asked, knowing full well what the answer would be. A mischievous smirk lingered on her face as she plopped down on her bed in order to get prepared for the conspiracy theory session they were about to have. The best conversation for what would only end up as a sort of slumber party “Agent Poole and I- mostly me, I got in some deep shit for it too- but we hacked into the security footage that night and saw some stuff. Not a whole lot but the power unit was fried by a metahuman. One who looked like they were in total control of what they could do- weird, huh?”

electromagneticbennett:
“You can neutralize the facility after you got your hands on the kid. I get your point, but no matter how stealthy, one person is enough to alarm the whole damn facility and I wouldn’t be surprised if by the time they reach the basement, they whisked the kid away. If the infiltration team was any bigger, i’d agree with you. But there’s four only and we don’t know what we’re dealing with exactly. Whether they have more metahumans or not is unclear. What kind of weaponry they own. Etcetera.” Bennetts brows furrowed as his fingers ran along the rough stubble on his chin. His hip rested against the table as he briefly lifted his attention from the hologram to look at Cass. “You got any Astral powers on your team or maybe can get your hands on a drone? If so, I’d say you keep what we discussed in mind, send in a drone first and see how the situation is. We can discuss this for hours, but there’s no perfect plan unless we know every last crevice and individual in there. Check if anyone’s powered, the kids condition and how many are possibly watching him. Then go in. If he’s alone, grab the kid first and work your way up. If he’s not, infiltrate the upper levels or create a distraction to get people out of there.”
The annoyance in her voice was nothing but amusing. And typical for her. They didn’t always get to join the action. Often had to sit back and guide the team through coms instead and he understood how infuriating it was. Sitting back while one could clearly be of help wasn’t his favorite approach either, but orders were orders. They trusted their teams, but not the people they often had to face. “Did you find anything on the kid? How long he’s been there?”
“The thing is, Greyson, we don’t know what this kid is capable of and what will set him off. If something goes wrong and that kid gets triggered and accidently does something- the chances of us being able to help him recover from that isn’t high. He’s just a kid” It was clear how sympathetic she was towards the boy. They all knew it could have been them down in that basement being used for whatever the people who had him were using him for. Experimentation- some sort of weapon- it was sad how often these things happened, especially within the poorer areas of the world “No astral powers- one phaser, one telekinetic, and two humans. All level fours” Cass placed her tablet on the table before leaning her own hip into it and allowing her fingers to massage tired eyes. She had been looking at these blueprints for hours trying to figure out the best course of action- going through plans and backtracking- combining ideas she had previously had into some sort of Frankenplan and then scrapping it for another.
“We don’t really know- weird things leaving behind traces of solar radiation have been happening all over the town we’re going into. I dunno what he can do but it’s safe to say he’s recently transitioned or is still in the process” And that meant that he was probably more dangerous than he understood. That entire time was usually stressful and confusing and that was without being taken by a group of crappy people to used for whatever reason “I should go in with them- I should talk to the director” she paused, eyes landing on Bennett once more “He’s just a kid”

theicefran:
Frannie couldn’t sleep. She rarely did, after the power outage and everything else that had been going on recently. It actually reminded her of her earlier months at Atlas, when she’d been too anxious to rest. The last two years felt like a coma she just hadn’t been able to wake up from, and now that she finally had, not much had changed if she was being honest.
She was a sort of protector now, but no less selfish, because at the end of the day she was just there because it was easier being the Hero Frannie than the Golden Child of Lima Frannie.
She sighed, and got out of bed when it was obvious that she wouldn’t be getting any sleep tonight. Her mind was rampantly flitting so it wouldn’t be good for her achievements to practice her powers now, but she had to do something. Glancing over at the alarm clock, Frannie noted it was just about 4.30—she’d literally been lying in the dark and staring at the ceiling for approximately five hours, and it was no wonder her eyes felt like they were going to start bleeding. She pulled on a pair of sweat pants and a sweater once she decided what to do, and then looked for her running shoes.
Walking down the hall, she rounded a corner and pulled out her iPod. When she looked up, she saw someone coming in the opposite direction and her expression hardened, immediately wishing she had put her headphones on before leaving the dorm so people wouldn’t bother her. She muttered a “Morning” anyway when they got close because she was raised to polite.
It wasn’t often Cass was awake before the birds were. She was a woman who appreciated sleep and everything that went along with it, for her to be out and about as the first rays of sun slowly crept over the horizon it usually meant one thing; she had not gone to sleep yet.
Dark bags grazed her face, her skin a little paler than usual- lacking it’s usual lively glow. In one hand she had a fresh mug of coffee and in the other, she had a thick folder with post-its peaking out here and there. The hub was still active and moving- the night time staff bustling here and there but it wasn’t as busy as it usually was during the day. Sometimes Cass enjoyed the quiet moments in the offices, no on there to judge her as she talked herself through her mission plan but even then, usually she missed the company of the others who shared the office.
Dark eyes landed on the familiar blonde, her features brightening up as she offered her a warm smile. Things with Frannie had always been rocky. Their personalities just clashed most of the time which was more or less a theme when it came to Cassie and anyone in the tactics department; she just didn’t think as logically as most of them did “Hey- What are you doing up so early?” she asked,

“Well, I assumed I didn’t need to pay full attention at the end there.” For the most part, he was correct. However, that small chance of getting even a bit of a heads up was something he probably should have taken into account. Looking at the girl, Zach couldn’t help but noticed how she appeared. “You don’t look like you’re having too much fun here, though.”
“Last I checked, even in practice, it’s smart not to assume anyone is done. You never know what someone is going to pull on you at the last moment” The girl spoke, her tone uncharacteristically serious but sometimes some outside critiques helped people. Not that it was her place to be giving criticism towards hand-to-hand. She was trained and held her own but that was his speciality “Just wasting time waiting for someone to get off shift- these new rules are kind of bogus ‘no agents on the working floor if they’re off work’. I mean, I get it but also that one is a little lame” Cass rambled a little, eyes widening slightly as she finished speaking “sorry about that”

televas:
Eva shrugged off the question. “Yeah, I did. I just haven’t gone back to the good ol’ desk job since. I wanted to take it all in for a while, because it looks like I’ll need to get used to this mess.” She hated the very idea of the implant- the thought that her employers could be tracking her movements around the facility made her queasy, even if it was for their own protection. She wasn’t exactly secretive about where she went, but the fact that the higher ups would know how many times she went to the bathroom was unnerving, to say the least.
She frowned, then. Pulling her hands up, she cupped one on the side of her mouth and used the other to make a thumbs down with exaggerated motion. “Boooo!” Settling down again, she leaned back and looked Cass over. “You’re no fun. I was just gonna suggest your favorite activity.” A smirk made its way on to her face. “You know. The great act of putting your lips to someone’s rear-end. Or, as the kids like to say, ass kissing.”
The familiar distaste that came along with conversing with agent Ray hit the back of her tongue like bile and Cass realised that she may have made a mistake. Eva was level one, there was no way in hell she’d have any extra information that Cass couldn’t have gotten herself and now she was simply regretted even initiating conversation with the woman “Ass kissing?” she questioned, now allowing her features to look as truly appalled as she was deep down. She had spent the night of the blackout hacking into the system much deeper than she was allowed- whatever Eva thought about her was probably wrong but Cass was in no position to tell her otherwise. Not that she would believe her if she had even tried “Ass kissing and doing your job aren’t really the same thing. You don’t do either, so I guess it’s a little foreign to you, huh?”

tane-pelesa:
She made excellent points on his behavior though it hit him hard with her brutal honesty. For some reason he didn’t understand the concept of weird or add considering he was considered normal back home. Culture was a big thing here as well but the sense of what was considered normal was a foreign concept for him. He appreciated her words and would always love her as a friend but his problems were more internal.
“No reason, I just wanted an opposite view point that I know wouldn’t feel bad if I asked.” Deep talks weren’t really his thing as they often distracted from the situation or the task at hand. Instead of attempting to inch on the conversation he pulled out his tablet device to show her something he’d been working on. “Can I show you something I’ve been working on?”
Using the camera on his device he pressed a button on the touch screen and from the back of the device a blue light emitted from it and did a facial scan of Cassie before him. To even use the program right now you had to know a sequence of words which only he knew because it was a word that was from his culture and for added protection he used his own fingerprint.
“Scan Complete.”
The screen flashed a biography of the Cassie that was restricted to just her name, abilities and occupation within the facility. “With this software we can know the name of a metahuman who may have any form of identity whether it be a government database or a post on instagram. Right now the options are narrow because you’re already in a system but in case we ever have an unidentified MH we can at least gain some information. Thankfully we live in a world where people usually don’t wear masks.”
“For what it’s worth, your weirdness is one of my favourite things about you” she added on, not wanting to seem like it was a bad thing because, in truth, it wasn’t. Half the agents within that building were capable of doing things they shouldn’t be. They were the freaks of society, the weird ones- the dangerous ones. Being a little odd was to be expected.
I smile spread across her face at his second request, a teasing tone in her voice “You are needy today, Pelesa” her head bobbed in an excited nod. Almost anything that came out of that brilliant mind was worth her time. What he was capable of doing tended to blow her away each and every time. “Of course you can- is that even a question that needs to be asked?” Again she repositioned herself so she was able to see what he was doing, eyes lingering on the excitable face of a boy who couldn’t wait to show off his latest toy.
A slur of words completely foreign to her slipped across his lips before the screen of the tablet illuminated both of their features. She was greeted with a photo of herself, long dark hair much different than her shoulder length, banged cut. She’d almost forgotten what she looked like back then “So, is this just an improvement to our system then? Or something else completely?” she asked, eyes lingering on all the details they knew about her and her powers.
