This is bugging me because everyone keeps asking us this and making me feel underprepared. For context, I fly out a week from today for Scotland. For the last two weeks, people have been asking me if I've got everything packed yet.

I typically don't start packing until 2-3 days before, and when I tell them this, they look at me like I'm nuts.

Am I really that unusual?

Someone probably thought about this years ago, but a video popped up on my FYP on Tiktok that made me think about it. Before Percy demanded that the gods actually claim their damn kids, do you ever think about how none of those unclaimed kids could really engage in relationships?

I mean, first off, I just feel that most demigods end up in romantic relationships with other demigods/mythical beings (but mostly demigods bc a) age and b) locality) bc their partner would have to know about the mythical world (for a genuine lasting partnership where you're not obscuring a good part of your life) and also just the fact that the people you're in close proximity with, and the kind of bonding that comes from having to trust someone else with your life and to watch your back that comes from being hunted by monsters. But if you have no idea who your parent is, you can't really date any demigods bc I mean... what if that's your sister? You don't know who they are, so that means that no one is really safe to date.

And obviously romantic relationships aren't actually the end-all be-all, but they are still a significant desire for a large percentage of teenagers and people in general. It's kinda just another example of how the unclaimed are really just stripped almost of the relationships that they deserve/want bc of the gods' pettiness or apathy.

My boyfriend and I finally watched the Old Guard 2 last night and I am... frankly super disappointed bc wtf was that. (Side note: no, that is not what happened in the comics at all.) Just. The lore changes are completely at odds with the first film and are, more importantly, stupid as fuck. If you wanted a plot like that, then just... write a different movie? Instead of attaching it to a film where it directly contradicts the established lore. Immortals saving the world throughout time isn't an inherently unique plot, you could have just done that.

A major pattern I've noticed in my depression is that the less I do, the less I do. It's a downward cyclical thing. I feel better when I make myself be productive (not Productive(tm) just like, taking a walk, tidying things around my house, going out). I feel worse when I sit and do nothing but scroll on my phone. But the more I sit and do nothing, the harder it gets to do anything. I've been trying to break the habit with a more structured routine where I take a walk every morning (even when I don't feel like it) just to get myself moving for the day, and it really helps.

Minor correction actually: FFN does have an option to reply to reviews! It's just private DM instead of public like AO3. Because why on Earth would people, who spend free time creating works that they share publicly for others to enjoy, not want to discuss what they made? or the fandom that they're both in? additionally, wtf is that commentor on about that professional authors don't reply? people literally geek out about responses all the time. there's definitely someone who's sad here, but it isn't the writers...
