cul-de-sac is one of my favorite tma statements its got it all. toxic old gay men and suburbia hell 💗 theres a massive suburbia next to my airport with these really rich and identical looking townhomes with perfect green lawns and lamp posts and the works but its quite literally in the middle of a brown rocky desert field with no stores or city anywhere near it and all i could think about was that episode. suburb horror really is so real...

on the topic of bubbline i absolutely loved obsidian but my one issue with it was like. i personally felt that the way they presented marceline’s character arc was “punk ideology/identity is immature and toxic and giving up punk is a sign of becoming mature and healthy”. which isn’t true of punk first of all, but i also think that punk style and ideology is so critical to her character beyond just channeling her angst and anger and trauma, and i think it majorly takes away from her character to have her “grow out of it”. i think they could have presented it as marceline realizing that she wasn’t being punk so much as being emotionally stunted and repressed and giving it up after realizing she’s never been truly dedicated to the punk lifestyle (which i don’t think is true of her character, but wouldn’t slander punk ideology), or better yet having her realize that punk is more than her negative behaviors and associations with it and learning to embrace and emphasize the aspects of love and community within punk over the angst and edginess. dunno.

#i also liked the premise of it being about their first meeting/breakup #but personally i preferred the vaguness of their relationship lol #atdl

i’m gonna get hexed or something for saying this but marshall and gary aren’t doing much for me in the new show… i really wanted to be excited about them. and i don’t dislike them or anything but idk. gumlee will just never be bubbline. and what makes me love bubbline so much is their long complicated history and the fact that they’re both eccentric weirdos 😭 so for that to be stripped away and to just give marshall and gary a hallmark meet cute takes away all the interest for me personally 💔

#gumlee already isnt as powerful as a mlm pairing but like they took away the crazy weirdo aspect of their relationship #so theres just not much else to enjoy about their relationship for me at this point 😭#i do understand its a non-magic universe but come on.#punk and avant garde people exist in real life.#also i just have such a huge bone to pick with marshall’s design #they robbed him of his genderfuck swag.#i do like the f&c outfits a bit more than the lame classic red flannel but they could push it so much more #and they could do such more fun things with his hair like come onnnn marcie does it up all the time 😭💔#atf&c
