"You made me in your image, but I am more than that!" is the best line of dialogue that any character has ever said in a TV show. Personally, I'd give it an infinity out of ten. It's funny because a lot of the dialogue in She-Ra is merely above average. Like. These sure are things that could be said in this situation, and it's in character for the characters to say them. But then Hordak gets The Power of Friendship™ and decides to commit some blasphemy and the Dialogue Writing spikes by 10,000%.

I know! It's so good!

And at the beginning of the show, I'd never have guessed that the apparent one-dimensional big-bad would grow into such an incredible line. Just outstanding.

How many young ace people internalized that shit?

I've had gay friends since I was a teen but I didn't come out until well into adulthood because of all the "ace people are harming queers by invading their spaces" stuff. I didn't even participate in social media, but the cultural osmosis was more than enough to isolate, because I believed that isolating myself was me being a good ally and keeping others safe- safe from me and people like me. The whole time, I kept telling myself I had no right to find comfort in a community I'd never sacrificed or suffered for.

I didn't just fall short of god's role for me AND society's role for me, I believed I didn't deserve the mercy that other young queer people found in queer circles. I internalized it so hard that my lesbian best friend couldn't convince me that asexuality counted as queer and I had a community if I wanted it.

I've spent my whole life feeling broken beyond repair and utterly unwantable. I spent YEARS bullying myself into sex I didn't want, trying to self-correct so that one day I wouldn't have to be so fucking alone. It's been an enormous source of pain and confusion and self hatred for as long as I can remember.

To this day, I resent every lying asshole that told me that life would get better once I found my people. Well, I did find my people. Then I had to realize I was better off without them.

Aphobia isn't a joke, and it hurts a lot more coming from supposedly inclusive crowds.

i will never fucking forgive the community on this site for the years of “ace discourse”. we were being actively hated for our orientations and everyone just treated it like a fucking debate topic or fucking mocked us for being effected by it. it became such a widespread thing to laugh at that even people who were otherwise okay with us were reblogging aphobic memes and getting mad that we “couldn’t take a joke” when we were upset by it.

and today, people who got swept up in aphobic movements look back at that time like “haha, i was such a cringe teen for participating in ace discourse” rather than “i was shitty and bigotted and i sincerely regret it”; a lot of them probably still ARE aphobic but just don’t talk about it anymore because it’s no longer trendy.

It’s becoming a distraction.

When Shadow Weaver wants something she casts a spell. A hex. Imp has something better.

He takes an important-looking tool. Loosens a few bolts. Tests the table’s new wobble and, satisfied, retreats to the sanctum. The trap is baited.

If Hordak won’t talk to her himself, Imp will just have to help.

He’s good at helping.
