hi!!!
it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but here’s my latest book review on every summer after by Carley Fortune: (contains spoilers) (sorry for typos, it’s late)
Personally I think this book is well and hooks you on the spot. I love the flashbacks the books provides because it gives us insight on how Percy’s and Sam’s love came to be. However it became pretty obvious what the “big secret” was going to be.
The story is a wonderful telling of summer love and a great friends to lover, but Percy’s betrayal is just too big and ruins her character for me. The ending was SO rushed and everything still felt like it wasn’t okay in the end. I don’t think Sam and Percy should’ve ended up together. I just think there’s a layer of trust that can’t be rebuilt between her, Sam, and Charlie.
Overall I give it 3/5 stars. It was still a very interesting & heartbreaking read. !!

the way emily henry writes romance, is truly unmatched. I LOVE IT. Book lovers had me in TEARS all the way through. i absolutely loved nora’s character. she was so well built and i honestly could see so much of myself in her ( i am an older sister too). the family side plot was devastatingly beautiful and the romance was just chef’s kiss. definitely 5/5 ⭐️

i just finished ‘beach read’ by emily henry and i literally BAWLED my eyes out. what a GOOD book. i loved everything about this book. the romance, the pessimism, the WRITING. i think emily henry has a literal GIFT for writing romance and tension between characters. i could literally see so much of myself in january. i too am a softie and will inevitably fall too fast and feel too much. i LOVED her as a character. for me this book was a 5/5 stars.

okay don’t judge me…… but i FINALLY read “people we meet on vacation” by emily henry and omg IT WAS WORTH ALL OF THE HYPE. now don’t get me wrong, i’m not really a friends to lovers trope kinda gal, i generally just find that trope boring BUT this book was an exception. i LOVED that there was tension between the two of them and that there was a lot that was left unsaid when the two characters met again. it made it so i could literally FEEL poppy’s anguish and want for things to just be the way they had been.
overall there was SO much to love about this book. the characters were made so perfectly and their romance was so heart wrenching. i also loved that poppy was facing substantial depression stumps in her life concerning her career and general outlook. i feel like that’s something we all struggle with sometimes so it was nice to see that being represented in a character. i give this book a 5/5. truly a good read that’ll get you sucked in almost instantly.

review with a little bit of a spoiler on war of two queens here…………………….
i’m not mad at the 3some in this book nor do i dislike poppy and kieran’s growing bond. to me i took it as poppy/cas/kieran being 100 percent comfortable with one another and exploring their relationship and there’s NOTHING wrong with that. don’t get me wrong, i’ve always preferred books where the love interest is more “possessive” but i think because of the way that JLA wrote kieran’s character and explained it more as a tradition i didn’t mind it. i think this book is getting too much hate for that reason and it’s truly unnecessary, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i understand if this just isn’t your thing.
with that being said, i truly enjoyed this book. the only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars was the SLOW beginning. it was really hard for me to get past the first 100 pages of the book but that has in part to do for my dislike in couples being separated for a long time. it also kind of angered me that poppy would give into isbeth’s request time and time again. i know she didn’t have much of a choice but it just constantly felt like they were getting played to me. i will also mention that i know we are continuously seeing poppy’s character development and i LOVE that. i know it’s been a running theme in this book but it’s important to remember that she’s continuously changing and it would be hard to accustom to her new self over night. overall this book was a good read, and i would highly recommend! 4/5 ⭐️ (p.s sorry for any typos in this review, i barley finished this book and it’s far too late at night for me to look over what i am writing lol)

house of sky and breath rendered me speechless. i have so much to say about it, but i literally can’t even articulate the words. i absolutely love the characters in crescent city. the bond between ruhn and bryce is so heartwarming. the love between hunt and bryce is heart wrenching. the fierceness and charisma of bryce’s character is so inspiring. ugh i have no words. don’t even get me STARTED on the ending, but that’s as much as i’ll say there. 5/5 starts. it’s that good.
