Yet another Isekai trailer, of the "I'm reincarnated as the villainess of the last story I read, how I will survive?" Not quite original, unless, perhaps, the memories of "past life" are actually a dream. But this one is not unheard of as well.
"Princess Rosalina" is a novel where the main character have a far fetched backstory. Rosalina was the daughter of counts kidnapped for ransom as a baby, given with no explanation to her kidnapper wife, who died killed by his accomplices right after. Knowing nothing about the baby, but her name embroided on her changes, this loving commoner woman raises Rosalina simply for seven years, unless she heard of the missing daughter of counts who still look for her. Rosalina is recognized thanks to her changes, and is raised by her birth parents from then on.
In this world, nobles have magic powers, so at 14 Rosalina joins the royal academy where she can learn to master them. Her kindness allow her to be loved by all boys and have only friends...but Vanessa, and her two friends.
Vanessa is a duke daughter, the highest rank in nobility. She despise commoners for this reason, and already mistreat her servants. But also Rosalina, due to her commoner rising, and also a bit by jealousy. Rosalina is way more popular, and Vanessa see herself superior to everybody.
Imperial prince David is the heir of the throne, and joins school too. Due to a strict education, and a dark power (turning into a dragon) that he fear to not master enough, he's tall, dark, cold...and handsome (I've kept the red eyes, black hair schema there). He's engaged since birth to Vanessa, she is mad about him (and quite clingy) , but he's not: she gets on his nerves.
David and Rosalina progressively warm up as her kindness is a serious contrast to Vanessa's behavior. When the latter notices the attraction, her rage and jealousy increase as well as her harassment of Rosalina. But her friends dare to be assertive, and David start to protect her when he notices. When Vanessa surprise a kiss between them at the end of the year, she lose it: she run to Rosalina with a knife, ready to kill her. To protect her, David turn into a dragon and burn Vanessa to ashes. As it was self defense, David does not face consequences and marry Rosalina, who becomes a princess. Talk about a Mary Sue story...
This novel was the favorite of a young woman of our world. She had a crush on David, and faced harassment too during her school years. As a result, she hated Vanessa and wished she could be Rosalina. Until this girl is killed by truck-kun.
Next thing she knows, she is a baby. In a world that look like occidental Europe? OK...Her parents are dukes? Great, she was poor previously, so...But...She is named Vanessa? Her older brother is named John? The heir of the throne is named David? Members of the imperial family can turn into dragons? Uh oh...She is now into the skin of the villain of "Princess Rosalina"!
How to survive? Well, at first, being nice, including to the waiters (not difficult). Especially to her brother John, David BFF, who did not helped his sister much previously. Then to David, when they are introduced at 5. Also, passing for a gifted girl thanks to her adult knowledge. Also passing knowledge in modern medicine or engineering. Reincarnated in the past characters usually do not seem to miss modern appliances, but why not?
At school, Vanessa carefully planned to back up and let Rosalina and David falling in love, to survive, even if she still have her crush. But nothing goes as expected. Isekai usually take two paths from there: either the original fiancé and heroine are jerks (and actual villains), and the new MC gets a new love interest. Or the original fiancé do not have interest in the original heroine (you never find out why) any more, and prefer the ex villain, while the original heroine is genuinely nice, and the MC BFF.
I preferred the second path. Thus, Vanessa befriend Rosalina, and only one of her previous friends follow her in this. The others stay jerks, but don't torment Rosalina for long as Vanessa stands up for her. They are equally pretty and nice, now, but Vanessa have the reputation to be courageous, and a genius, in addition. So she is the one everyone love, including all boys...and David.
Vanessa is astonished to discover that now, David and Rosalina have no interest in each other, seeing just the other as a friend. Meanwhile, John turn out to be in love with Rosalina, which he was certainly in the novel, like all boys (you can't tell as he's a secondary character). Needless to say, his story was tragic in the book, as he had to watch his best friend marrying the girl he loved, and said nothing for this reason. But here, John is the only one not in love with Vanessa (she's his sister, duh!) and takes the original path. He dares to seduce the still free heart of Rosalina...And succeed.
So what to do? Even when she realizes she does not interfere in a love story by now, Vanessa still have a hard time, at first, that David could love her, as their engagement was arranged. But she finally indulges in her crush... and notices a black smoke that follow her everywhere. New villain? Or rather, the manifestation of a really dangerous villain, who initially patiently waited for Vanessa to drive David so furious that he'll use his power to break havoc. But he did not ("just" killing Vanessa) . Meaning that in the book, David and Rosalina would face this menace after the "happy end".
Here, this villain reveal himself earlier, as nobody gets on David 's nerves there, and he threaten the prince himself (who's that? Maybe the headmaster).
Don't worry: it will end well. After vanquishing the menace, Vanessa and David get married and become sovereigns. I tried to keep an original heroine that look as impressive as the "villain" (it's often not the case). Plus the pink hair is the most common after the blonde for these characters. It emphases sweetness, and explains her name. It's also an allusion to the famous "wrong girl first" Rosaline in Romeo and Juliet (maybe I use it too often).
Vanessa means vanity (so it was appropriated in the first iteration), and she have the purple eyes of power, and dark hair of meanness. David means "beloved" , which he is. John is short for Jonathan, David's best friend in the Bible, but also a common name, initially meaning that he was not intended to be important.

It's an isekai Peggy sue! (Time travel) Seriously, they have so common themes, that you could produce bingos. And I did! (https://lady-knight-.tumblr.com/)Images are bing, animation is vidu, and no, chatgpt did not write it. I wondered if…But no. Chatgpt did delivered an isekai time travel story when i asked for it (not a bad one at that). But the main character was male, and I've only seen female MC so far. I've only kept two names from Chatgpt, Thalvoria (from this original story) and Vhalteris (I had no idea). But I've found others names, based on functions and temper: Maelys= Princess, and Flavia=blonde. The younger princess is Cora (heart, her function), the emperor is Tristan (sad) , the ML is Valentin (lovers patron saint). He's a redhead with green eyes, but I wondered if he would not look better with red eyes and black hair.
And then: It was easy for me to write a classical story. A princess is sentenced to guillotine, but she's innocent. Her so called half sister is the real villain and plotted everything. The princess wakes up in her past body (four years before) after her execution, and is determined to survive thanks to future memories. It include new allies (including a wizard), doing more charity, developing her light powers, having the love of her father and fiancé all for herself, etc. Flavia, the so called eldest hidden daughter of the emperor, is actually an illegitimate daughter of the previous empress, and possessed by the spirit of Verna (Raven anagram), a wicked witch.
Not quite original? I wondered if the twist was that the main focus is Cora. She is not the one that time traveled and is puzzled by the bizarre behavior of Maelys who changed overnight.
Even more original than that? What if, after her execution, Maelys traveled back in time in her past body, but meanwhile, Valentin was, in a previous incarnation, a young Korean who died run over by a trunk? And when he reincarnated in Valentin's baby body, he remembered "Cursed princess" as a novel? That's not all, what if on her side and while she was 7, Cora suddenly remembered she was once a a young Japanese girl who did not woke up after too much sleeping pills? And remembered "Cursed princess" as a dating game (where you seduce either Valentin or the wizard) adapted from the novel? How it look like when three characters know where the story is going, and don't tell the others?
