House MD: My Source of Motivation
Tumblr media
If somebody asks me one thing that can always motivate me especially during exam week, I would say House MD. The whole 8 seasons of it. As you might know, House MD is not a real person, it is a fictional character from TV series that has the same title with the main character of the show; Gregory House MD. What makes this show special is that House is not your typical doctor. In fact, he’s an obnoxious person yet genius doctor who loves to solves puzzles in medical cases and addicted to Vicodin. He consumes Vicodin because he has to bear with the pain that came from infarction in his right thigh which result from nerve damage and muscle death.
In Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, he leads diagnostic department and runs it with three fellow junior doctors; Allison Cameron MD, Robert Chase MD, and Eric Foreman MD. In the times when he figure out the answer of complicated cases, House regularly deliberate things with his only good friend; James Wilson MD who works as Head of Oncology department and argue with Dean of Medicine and Hospital Administrator; Lisa Cuddy MD as well as other fellow doctors because he never really follow the general rules in hospital. The deem of everybody lies makes House doesn’t like to visit patients. He believes that it just waste of time because patients never really tell what actually happened prior to disease development.  It only objective to judge them based on medical charts and history that always taken by his associate junior doctors. In the forthcoming seasons, these associate junior doctors will come and go and replaced by new characters such as Chris Taub MD, Lawrence Kutner MD, Remy “thirteen” Hadley MD and Amber Volakis MD.
For me, House MD is the finest medical series of its kind that I’ve watched so far because it focused on the medical study rather than romance and love life. In some episodes, there’s animation that explains mode of actions from agent that caused diseases. As a biomedicine students, watching this series is like reviewing materials in classes. One day, there’s pop-quiz in my immunology class and I did it effortlessly because the night before I watched House with the same exact topic as the quiz. So theoretically, it helped me passed immunology class.
I fully recommend this brilliant tv show because it gives new perspective to people. Most of the time, diagnosing a disease is like finding a small fish in the big sea. It’s not easy. Sometimes we find ourself forcing the doctors to cure whatever happens in our body while we don’t corporate to tell them what things that actually made us sick. By watching this show, people might realize that doctors are actually human too. They don’t predict things as fas as the blink of the eye and it is totally normal when they abortive to analyze symptoms.
Above all of that, House MD is well-written medical drama that wrapped with smart sense of humor in it. It’s like a perfect package show to watch especially for health-related students.

Drawing: Between Me and Words
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing that I like about drawing is that I don't have to use words to speak what's on my mind. It speaks through colors, shades, and lines in between. The combination of all of it can clearly write the things that I want to tell to people. Because actually words and I, we don’t get along very well.. I always consider myself as a person who is not very good at words. I'm not shy nor I hate to meet people but I just don’t know how to project the whole sentences that perfectly made in my brain into clear sequence of sounds that come out of my mouth. There’s just no good connection in there.. Maybe most of people don't aware of it because lots of people told me I'm very extroverted and talkative and good at keeping conversation. The truth is, I am so much anxious when it comes to talking as much as people next door.  Most of the time I’m end up talking things that just don’t make sense. Thankfully, I can always turn that into jokes so people don’t really notice it. This awkwardness also happens when I have to start a conversation with new people. I’m actually kinda people-person but as I grew up I find it hard to initiate a dialogue. Well, unless I can sense that this particular people are as weird as I am, then I can make direct connection with them. Frequently, this unfortunate condition left the impression of me as an ignorant person which supported by the way I look. At first, it was super annoying and made me think unnecessary things like do I have to smile all the time to look nice but then I’m getting used to that impression. But honestly, getting to know people is actually the thing that I love. However, words sometimes just too complicated to be spoken. Other than being my personal media to communicate to others, drawing helps me ease my thoughts during distress. People might prefer eating chocolate or screaming to make them feel better, but for me drawing is really working to put me at serenity. As I mixed color and put it on paper, my crumpled thoughts are smoothen. Somehow it gives me satisfied feeling even though the result is a total disaster. :D Anyhow, I’m still finding my consistent style of drawing. When the first time I start drawing I only used pencil and now I really enjoy draw things using water color. Nevertheless, I still enjoy both style of drawing. In addition to that, I’m not a pro painter. I just happened to find that drawing is very convenient as my way to deal with things and feel lively. So to make you feel the same way, here’s some of my drawing that --hopefully-- can brighten your day. Even though I’m not sure how.. but enjoy!!

청춘시대 (Age of Youth)
Tumblr media
Recently, I just finished a Korean drama called ‘Age of Youth’. After following 2 seasons of this drama, I guess it’s safe to say that this drama is one of my favourite Korean drama. The story is about 5 university students who share same house and live together. These 5 girls who came from completely different backgrounds and have different personalities, in which made their friendship somewhat chaotic at first as none of them have got the guts to say what they actually feel and the other hand, another person feel mistaken. So you know, misunderstanding happens.. all the time.. Every character in the drama has total opposites of one another which makes the characters stand out equally and are easy to remembered. The characters are Yoon Jin-myung , Song Ji-Won, Jung Ye-eun, Yoo Eun-jae, and Kang Yi-na. Yoon Jin-myung is the oldest that has very hard-working personality, she has so many part time jobs to support her family’s financial situation. Her strict schedules in her daily life makes her look careless to her roommates. The truth is, she pays detail attention and is very cautious of her surroundings. The second character  is called Song Ji Won. She is really energetic and positive yet not very sensitive. She is always successful to brighten everybody’s day and is ready to stand up for her friends. The third character is Jung Ye-eun, she’s the girly type of girl who always smile and look happy, while actually she hides a lot of dilemma. The fourth character is Yoo Eun-jae.she’s the youngest and is very shy, and innocent. She always keep what she wants to say to herself and likes to mumbe. However, this changed when she met the other four girls. Last but not least is Kang Yi-na, she’s very straightforward yet thoughtful person. She always get attention from boys due to her looks and uses it to attain her luxury life. She really doesn’t care about what other people think about her. But when it comes to her roommate, she takes it as a great matter.
Age of youth is so much more than telling a cliche-clingy romance story in college. it tells me about friendship like be there for each other, dealing with family issues and school life. What is special about this drama is that I can relate to almost every event in the scenes. As a college student, I can ascribe their apprehensive of life and  need of encouragement from close ones.  I love how these 5 strangers that don’t care about one and another, find a great value in their friendship. In every episode, there’s always someone who express her thought that make me thinking about life; how others are not always understanding what we meant but it doesn’t mean they don’t care or don’t want to help out. Most of the time these thought left me feeling happy, sad, bitter, confused and joyful all in the same time. Another plus point of this drama is they only have 12 episodes for season 1 and 14 episodes for season 2 which i think is really friendly within my timeframe to catch up.
In season 2 of this drama, there are several things that changed due to some technical reasons. It takes some times for me to adjust the old characters to the new ones. But, as goes with my expectations, the story line is not disappointing and is successful to return to me the roller coaster feeling. At the final episode, the story had kinda of a cliffhanger ending. But maybe there will be a season 3 from this drama, in which I would  love to watch. So far, there is no confirmation regarding the possibility of its continuation.  Nonetheless, this drama is perfect for you who are craving for relatable real-life story and yet still retain its comedic sense.
