emilico and kate are clearly written to be an exception from the rule, as kate remembers being a spirit and doesn't regard emilico as a copy. she literally says "i wanted my doll to be someone different from me" and there is no familiar bond between them. they act like people who just met and are getting to know each other, which they are. the way the manga is headed is clearly wanting to separate the fairies from the humans and have them co exist as themselves, with patrick having a crush on emilico and not kate, and the situation with ram. kate most likely doesn't want to look like emilico or take her body, she's being forced to do so.

also using louise as an example doesn't really work when she's clearly meant to be a narcissist with her mind control power.

just because they look the same doesn't make them siblings. it's literally a shapeshifter/bodysnatcher situation.
