i subscribe to the hc that any time an enemy disarms bucky, the thunderbolts new avengers immediately start calling them an ableist until they profusely apologize before resuming the fight

Okay the scene where Yelena and Ava were comparing John's gun to his dick and Walker completely missing the pun there was hilarious. He genuinely thought they were talking about his gun being big and long and he was proudly showing it.
My dumb himbo.

random thunderbolts headcanons but its annoying things
bucky: "doesnt want anything" and then stares at other ppls fries like a sad cat
john: asks for advice and gets genuinely upset when the rest give the advice he didnt want
yelena: doesnt use the last of ANYTHING (sheet of toilet paper, cookie from a pack) because she doesnt feel like changing it/throwing the packaging out
alexei: talks in movie theaters/during movie night
ava: does not pay back and waits until the rest just forgets
bob: spamtexts like fucking CRAZY

yes there's a lot of things to criticize about Star Wars but one thing i will always love it for is being so unabashedly tragic
i'm sure it's been said before, but one of the main things i think powers the SW fandom (fics in particular) is the (in)evitability of it all
time travel fix-its are one of the most popular sub-categories of fics that i've seen (for the prequels at least) but i see it much more rarely in other fandoms. i know each fandom has their own niches that they dig into but star wars fic writers took one look at this decades long story of people who were doomed from the start and said 'not in my house bitch'
and i'm never tired of it, because there's so many places where just one different action could have changed the story entirely, but didn't
was it over the moment Palpatine succeeded in feeding Anakin's fears and his distrust toward the Jedi? the moment the Sith gained control of the senate? what about when the war started, when the Jedi were made generals of men designed to be their executioners? what about when Dooku left the order? when Qui-Gon Jinn died, leaving barely-knighted Obi Wan Kenobi to raise a child he had no idea how to care for? when the Jedi massacred the Mandalorians at Galidraan, leaving Jango Fett primed (hah) for revenge? when Palpatine, and thus the Sith, first gained influence? when the Jedi were tied to the Republic, all the way back at the Ruusan Reformation?
there are so many little moments that turn into this huge web of cause and effect when you take a step back. and in canon, these characters are dooming themselves while we watch, but what reason do they have to do anything different? they don't know they're in a tragedy - its dramatic irony at its goddamn finest
but there's this thing about decisions: for it to be a choice, there has to be another option. and our heroes make their mistakes because that's what they do, while we aren't privy to that other option, leaving that little what-if. it's a favorite human pastime, to think about what might have been.
we start at episode 4, though, fourty or so years after what you could arguably call the start, and find ourselves watching the dominoes fall in place throughout 1, 2, and 3.
and we can hate the choices, hate the tragedy, hate what happened to our beloved characters, but we knew. we had the luxury of knowing.
it's a love story, it's political intrique, it's sci-fi at its finest, and they were dead from the start.

The Star Wars Original Trilogy is peak fiction because they took a fairy tale and set it in space, then they gave the princess in distress a GUN. But even better they gave her a sharp tongue and the power of revolution. They made the “dragon” a depressed cyborg father with asthma who doesn’t understand his own emotions and does murders because of it. And they made the knight a blond Barbie boy who attempts to solve problems with the power of love like he’s Sailor Moon or something.
And then they said, “oh yeah they’re all related btw. All the galaxy’s problems are this one family’s fault. Hope this helps 😘”

this will be my last sw post for a while (rest, i need), but I think it's worth remembering that while Luke is cheerful and bold, he also canonically nearly killed Vader in a blind rage. He canonically viciously snaps at people. He canonically throws things in anger. He canonically is so impatient Yoda nearly dipped. Even in episode 6, which is the basis for a lot of the characterization I see, his calmness comes across an iron control, not necessarily gentleness. I do think a lot of the former is due to immaturity, so gently serene Jedi Luke is a reasonable characterization, but I also think it's worth remembering why Luke grew up so fast, why that iron control has appeared in episode 6, and why he is the furthest thing from careless.

Obi-Wan’s whole thing with the Skywalkers kills me. Like hi these are my children their names are Luke and Leia. I have canonically been called their other father. Oh no well technically they’re my former Padawan and best friend’s children with his wife. Yeah I do obsessively search for aspects of him within his kids as he does for aspects of me. Oh yeah no I very much do still love him after all these years. His wife trusts me more than anyone and he’s been accused of loving me more than his wife so we’re all pretty tight. I have been certain since I met him that we would die together. Also I was there when his kids were born and was the first to hold them. And helped raise and protect them. And taught their father one last lesson in immortality so we could be together in the force forever. Anyway what was the question

my boy. <3
luke skywalker is kind of an outlier in terms of male protagonists considering his core character trait is sacrifice. he wants to leave tatooine so bad it makes him look stupid. and yet, despite yearly arguments with uncle owen he stays. until there’s nothing left to stay for. he chases after the breadcrumb trail that might leave him just an inch closer to the idea of his father with a desperation bordering on stupidity. and he abandons it the second his friends are in danger. at great personal cost. he gives up what he wants over and over without even thinking about it. idk it’s just fascinating

I know Obi-Wan’s brain would have short circuited when he sees Luke and Leia yelling for the first time as Luke looked like Anakin when pissed but sounded like Padmé’s “I’m angry beyond belief but I simply sound very disappointed” voice and Leia looked like Padmé but has Anakin’s “I’m pissed and the whole galaxy shall hear me roar” voice and Obi-Wan is just “oh no”
