[QnA] Intricacies of Language

"What are the defining characteristics of each language? And what might each one sound like to someone who doesn't speak it?"

For this set of QnA doodles, we have Reven babbling about languages in their own Reven way.

Tescano is an *old* language, thousands of years old and still actively used by millions. Of course, it has mutated a lot in that time, but due to its age and how many people speak it, it's used a lot in the fields of history, language, anthropology and literature.

Keris is a languaged created by the Tarrukar Empire, designed to be easy to teach to the settlements they conquered. Since it has been a few hundred years since Tarrukar began using Keris, it has evolved to become...complicated.

(Conlanging isn't my strength so...I apologize to all the linguists and actually skilled conlangers of the world)

[QnA] Tensions between Species

"What do Cyclones think of Whirlwinds? Are there any tensions between types of artes?"

Another QnA doodle, this time geared towards the world itself.

A small reminder of all the terms: Artes are artificial sapiential creatures, with this comic focusing on the ones created in the Empire of Tarrukar. Cyclones and Whirlwinds are types of Stratos Artes: Winged Artes with feathers.

I realize I should have also added a Whirlwind character to weight in on what they think on Cyclones...but it was becoming too long.

Another QnA doodle! This one is a continuation from the last one. Kae lives in a country where he isn't a native speaker of the language, but give him a translator dictionary and picture books and he will be unstoppable.

Summary of Art 2024

Hi! Happy new years :) I try to make summaries of art for every year, so here's a bunch of stuff from 2024!

I developed a lot of Vagrant Skies from the worldbuilding front. There's a proper map now! That's huge. I've also dipped my toes into using traditional media again. It's daunting, but fun :)

On a bit of a personal note, this year came with a lot of learning. I lost people I loved, and backtracked quite a bit in life, but there were plenty of positives too. I've made awesome friends, managed goals that I didn't think possible, and for the first time in my life I can say I feel at peace with myself. There's much to do yet, and despite the lowkey horrifying world events, I'm very grateful for this year.

The Magpie of Minrathous

Momentarily pausing the programmed schedule of wings because I'm consumed by Dragon Age brainrot. This is my Rook, Wren :) She's a visually-impaired mage that uses magic to navigate the world. Loves collecting valuable stuff, just for the sake of having it. Hence the corvid nicknames!
