«Let it be your lesson. It's wise to learn from other's mistakes.»
Commando training wasn't just about meeting Kaminoan expectations. For the would-be soldiers, it was a test of strength - and if their instructors thought they weren't giving their best, they got punished. Some clones knew better than others that sometimes physical punishment was not just a test of endurance, but a showcase for the entire group of cadets.
"Good" was never enough. Carud had remembered that very well.
Rated: G | Words: 435 | Summary: Wrecker and Crosshair talk about their lost brother. | Character Focus: Wrecker, Crosshair
Wrecker groggily wakes to the sound of sure fingers typing. “Go to sleep, Tech,” he grumbles, turning over in the pull down bunk to face the wall.
The typing stops abruptly. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to wake you.” Crosshair’s voice. Not Tech’s. Never Tech’s.
Tech is dead.
Wrecker rolls to his back, stares at the bunk above him. “Sorry,” he says.
Crosshair makes a scoffing noise. “What for? I woke you up.”
“I thought you were Tech for a second,” Wrecker says. “It just sounded…like he was here. The way you were typing. Haven’t heard typing like that since before.”
Crosshair is quiet for a few moments, and Wrecker isn’t sure he’s going to answer, and then, “Hunter types like a newborn blurrg’s first steps.”
Wrecker barks out a surprised laugh, turning his head to look at his brother. Crosshair smirks back at him.
“I missed you, Cross,” Wrecker says. “A whole lot.” He isn’t sure why he’s suddenly feeling sentimental, but the words need to be said.
He misses Tech. Every day.
But he also missed Crosshair.
Every day.
Crosshair blinks at him, smile dropping. He glances away. “I missed you too.”
Wrecker sits up, ducking his head so he doesn’t hit it on the upper bunk. He leans forward, propping his elbows on his knees. “Did Omega ever tell you about Tech winning a pod race?”
A half shrug and a nod. “A little. No details, but I got the gist of it.”
“You should’ve seen him,” Wrecker says, becoming animated. “He was the craziest racer there.”
Crosshair chuckles. “You sound surprised.”
“Nah,” Wrecker says. “Just proud of him.”
His little brother hums. “I would’ve liked to see that,” Crosshair mumbles, looking down at the data pad gone idle in his lap. He pecks one finger at the screen, igniting it to life, but he doesn’t do anything else with it. “There’s a lot of things I should’ve been here for.”
Wrecker swallows, but only lets his silence agree.
“Maybe,” Crosshair continues once the quiet between them has settled, “you can tell me what happened…with the pod race.”
Wrecker grins so big it hurts. Until this moment, he hadn’t realized how badly he’d wanted to share this story with Crosshair. All the details, even the ones he and Tech and Omega had carefully left out when reporting to Hunter and Echo.
“Well,” Wrecker says, swinging his legs over the side of the bunk. “I’ll have to start at the beginning.”
Crosshair rolls his eyes good-naturedly. “Well, that’s obvious,” he snarks.
And kriff, if he doesn’t sound just like Tech when he says it.
@the-little-moment @just-here-with-my-thoughts, less than a week left of Angstpril! But that also means less than a week until the end of the Bad Batch 😭 I'm not ready!!
And I'm posting this story before the second to last episode airs just in case it ruins me emotionally....eeeeeep!
✨Let me know if you'd like to be added to my tag list!✨
I’m reposting this with the video in case you’d like to see the process. This song was on replay while I was painting this scene, so I knew it had to go with the speedpaint.
I’m hoping Echo and Omega will have the opportunity to hug again and that this isn’t the end... Please Filoni, let my boy make it out of there alive.
To everyone worried about how they will wrap up all the plotlines in one (hopefully) hour-long episode-they won't.
We're getting a Clone Rebellion show. It's almost a certainty now. That's why Echo is getting so much focus (and a hand! new armor maybe??) So questions about Cody and Wolffe will likely be handled in that. And maybe Hemlock won't die in this and will continue to act as an antagonist?? I wish he'd be eaten by the Zillo Beast tbh but this could also be interesting...
This show is specifically about the Batch, so getting Omega out and finishing their arc will be the priority, and I do actually think we have time for that. And I do think the Batch will make it out alive and that Tech will be alive. Very likely not unharmed and for sure brainwashed whether he's CX-2 or in one of the other tanks but I do think they will reveal him at a crucial moment. I think it could also be an interesting way to continue the Batch's story into the Clone Rebellion-have Tech be CX-2 and they don't manage to save him, but they won't repeat the same mistake they made with Crosshair, they're going to get him out no matter what??
Honestly though, I have no idea what's going to happen in the finale. Just going to sit back and enjoy the ride, since there's still a chance I'm wrong and this could be the last we see of these characters which would completely destroy my sanity...🙃
RC-2180 was one of those who trained under Walon Vau as a cadet. The scars from the training were not unexpected, but there was no pride or honor in any of them. There was nothing but shame. Behind each scar was a punishment for disobedience or imperfection that would remain a reminder for the rest of his short life.
Carud sees this reminder every day when he looks in the mirror - and feels nothing but disgust.
I hope Tech stays dead because if he comes back now its just way to little time to make it work. And also of they bring him back last Episode to be idk tragically murderd by his bros this series will be genuinely ruined for me.
I miss Cid and i would have liked to see her a) have a redemption arc or b) have to deal with the consequences of her betrayal. She was set up during season 2 to "grow" (at least in my opinion) and that betrayal was in character and it would have been perfect for conflict
"I just wish they’d stop worrying about light and dark, and learn the difference between right and wrong instead."
