Agnes could be quite fussy and awoke Joan and Roger in the wee hours of the night, but they adored their newborn daughter endlessly. Before too long, she was getting bigger, and growing up strong and healthy, for which her parents thanked God.

Joan went into labor on a warm day in 1386, and told Roger to run to the home of the nearest midwife, a wise woman named Dorcas Welby. She safely delivered a healthy baby girl who was given the name Agnes.

When he had time for a pause in his daily toil, Roger met his friend Bertram Cooke at the Red Dragon pub for a drink. He was the same age as Roger and had also recently wed. Bertram had introduced Roger and Joan to his new wife, Margery, who came by the Denton home to keep Joan company during her pregnancy, and of course, to share gossip about the townsfolk.

Happy Pride Month!

Mom,

I made friends with one of the locals today, a young woman about a year or two older than me. Her name is Ji-Eun, and she has a tiny baby boy named Si-Woo. She knows some English because her father did business with the British. She told me she appreciates our unit for taking care of her husband who is fighting, and she wanted to show me around the nearest town since I have some spare time.

We went to a restaurant and I tried tteokguk for the first time, and I enjoyed playing with the baby. Korea is just beautiful and I wish that I could visit under better circumstances, in peacetime.

Gloria's Diary

Some days as a nurse are harder than others. As I write these words I question what I have gotten myself into. I thought it'd be a great adventure but find myself surrounded by so much pain. If I can alleviate just some of it, I still will feel proud of my service, though I wish I could do more. I hide it with a smile and optimistic letters but Mom and Salvador and Salim cannot see how it affects me.

On the positive side, I did receive a photograph and a letter from Sal— Mary is expecting again! I am excited to be an aunt to another little one.
