Are you turning your lights off for Earth Hour? We would love to see more dark nights. Dark skies are good for wildlife! (And for people too!) #EarthHour2024 #AlbertaBats
Our director of bat research, Dr. Cori Lausen talks about migratory bats! These magnificent bats need help. Understand the issues and how you can help. #Bats #BatsNeedFriends #BatsAndWindEnergy
Big Brown Bats don't get enough love. These guys eat so many beetles - including many beetle species humans consider to be pests. They have big teeth and strong jaws (for eating beetles) which makes most bat people slide on a leather glove under their sterile nitrile gloves to avoid getting a finger chomped! Can't blame them for defending themselves though!
If you are looking for ways to support biodiversity and an end-of-year tax deduction - we have a donate button! Any and all support is appreciated. Mr. Big-ears needs protection - which does not happen without information - and information doesn't come without funding research/inventory projects.
Our director of bat research spoke to CBC radio this week about bat boxes and condos and what bats really need, especially in the face of climate change and warming summer temperatures. As always, Dr. Cori Lausen does a great job of clearly explaining the situation.
