One of the sweetest things about Way Of The House Husband is that Tatsu hangs out with all the middle aged housewives while his wife is at work and apparently that’s exactly the life he always wanted.

Even sweeter is that Tatsu affectionately calls Miku “the boss” but will also sometimes talk about his yakuza boss without making it clear that he’s not talking about Miku. His old boss would make him do grueling work and often beat him, which results in the women thinking Miku is abusing him.

Their concern for him and assurance that he can always come to them for help is so sweet. Just housewives looking out for a househusband with no judgement.

fools: spy actually hates children including his own son

me: WHERE?? WHAT?? WHAT????

From the comics we have an entire issue where (one of) the punchline(s) is that Spy actually does like kids

(don’t sweat red vs blu too much it’s for the best)

And then Issue 6 is “Spy loves his son for real, dummy”

Personally, the choice of words here is very important: not “I love you”, which any parent can say to their child and mean it while still disapproving of their actions, but “I’m proud of you. I’ve always been proud of you.” Spy likes Scout for who he is despite all the snarking and eye-rolling!! Bitch!!

jay confirmed that spy does genuinely care about scout, and the tom jones disguise was because he was afraid of rejection (can’t find it atm but if someone else could i’d be grateful

also look at him helping scout, despite being the one who got kneecapped

and then how genuinely happy and vibrant he looks in the parts of expiration date where things are going right. no smugness or schaudenfreude. genuine happiness and pride in his dumb little progeny.

not even subtly reverse-psychologizing scout into putting on the date himself (he knows spite is much more powerful than anxiety and self-doubt)

and then being genuinely invested in how it goes

do i think spy is good at being a father? not really! do i think he knows how to show affection and support in a normal or healthy way? not at all! that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like his goddamn kid though. characters can act one way and feel another, like real people!

What do you think the mercs would be like while they're really playful? I can imagine Scout would be like a cat with the zoomies, just running around the base like an absolute dumbass. You know what i mean? :) [Also i lost it when i saw the "go off i guess" lmao

((I have no idea what the “go off I guess” is referencing, but I sure wish I did, lol))

The Mercs when they get just a little too riled up:

Scout: One word; nyoom. Boy is off the fucking walls, running and jumping on furniture just because he can. Nine times out of ten, this is because he drank too much Bonk! again, but lord help anyone who runs into him when he’s like this. Will eventually crash and end up asleep on the floor.

Spy: You’d think he’s too posh and formal to get into a Silly Mood™, but if he has a good call with Scout’s Mom, he has a chance of becoming much more playful with the others; expect a lot more laughter and jokes from him, especially of the dad variety, as well as maybe, just maybe, lighthearted hide-n-seek.

Engineer: It’s very rare for him to get riled up, but when he does, he’s devoting all of it to cranking out new inventions in his workshop. Disturb at your own risk, because if anyone happens to walk into his space, then they’ll be stuck there for awhile while he infodumps to them about whatever he’s working on.

Heavy: Is laughing his ass off while simultaneously picking up and throwing his teammates around to mimic dancing. No one is safe from his hugs, not even Spy. If Medic’s around, he’ll get the full brunt of it, otherwise everyone else ducks for cover (except Pyro). When he crashes, he crashes hard.

Medic: Two words; fucking terrifying. Will be singing under his breath with a smile on his face as he cuts you open, so really, not much different from the usual, but god forbid he actually has a merc in his care while he’s in a silly mood, or else they might get a few things “upgraded” by him.

Demoman: Chaotic dumbass. Almost as off the fucking walls as Scout and Heavy, but his bouts of excitement almost always end in shit getting broken. The others mercs have now more or less made a meme out of his destructiveness when he gets too excited, much to Demo’s embarrassment.

Sniper: Oh dear god, the jokes from this guy just get progressively stupider and dirtier, to the point where not even Scout is laughing anymore. Gets extremely cuddly like Heavy, surprisingly enough, which everyone who likes to be hugged (secretly, in Spy’s case) takes advantage of.

Pyro: Who the fuck gave them sugar? Odds are it was Engie, but in any case, this merc overexcited is a recipe for a lot of noise and a lot of fires. Near the end of their rush, they’ll run around with their favorite plushies and beg for everyone to give them kisses goodnight, which everyone (some reluctantly) does.

Soldier: Let’s be honest, he’s in a near constant state of over-excitement, but on particularly victorious days, like after beating the BLUs several times in a row, he’ll be jumping and cheering like a little kid on the 4th of July. Honestly it’s adorable, especially because he isn’t as violent as he usually is.

I hope this was satisfactory, my pal, because this was fun af to think about!
