I know people like to joke that Peter Parker, Dick Grayson and Mark Grayson are all the same person in different fonts
but I can’t help but imagine if they met it’d be like
Mark: I don’t believe in the death penalty but I also don’t believe in redemption
Dick and Spidey:
Mark: yk?
Spidey: uh sure bud
Dick: *takes a step back*
#btw I’m not saying dick and peter believe in the death penalty#and they do swing a lot before asking questions but at their core they are forgiving#rem talks#spiderman#peter parker#nightwing#dick grayson#richard grayson#mark grayson#invincible#invincible 2021#batman#batfam#dc#dc comics#marvel comics

The thing I love about a Reverse Robins AU, but I never get to really see fleshed out, is that Dick Grayson's Robin changes everything about being Batman's sidekick.
Like you can make up ur choice of bird or bat themed sidekick to ride along with batman during their tenure at his side and that's cool but the title is Batman&Robin. Like they are thee dynamic duo.
So what I'm saying is, in a reverse robins AU no matter whose sidekick is the first and what name they take inevitably the best team up is Gonna end up being 40+ yrold Bruce Wayne and 8 yrold Dick Grayson.
Like the drama there y'all!? Not just in sibling rivalry, because I'm sure they were all good sidekicks in their own right, but Dick and Bruce together are just different.
Dick as Robin comes out of the corner with a steel chair leaving everyone stunned because he's the best of them. It's not even a competition. If he's not the first then everything from the way he moves, the way he quips, the way he fights, makes him the last.
I can't imagine getting a new little sibling who is just suddenly like a fuckin prodigy out of nowhere. And like yeah obviously he's gonna make mistakes and get into fights with Bruce and constantly be learning.
But can u imagine those older Batkids getting to stand back and watch in awe as Batman&Robin is born. As this little kid who lost everything, home to no place but a circus cart and with nothing but the clothes on his back, creates a legend in Gotham. A legend the city holds their fuckin breath to see born because Robin is magic.
Just...like can u imagine how devestating and amazing that would be as a previous batman sidekick? He's not even a replacement for you because he's so different he's, dare anyone say, better.
This kids in a league all his own and he's your little kid brother Dick Grayson and that's terrifying.

i’m too lazy to turn this into a full length fic but
Dick Grayson, aged 12, excitedly bouncing up and down beside Bruce as they sat in a lion tamer’s audience, after his guardian had tentatively asked if he’d like to see the circus while they were in gotham for a while, for his birthday.
And the evening had been lovely—until one of the lions turned on the poor handler and near tore the poor man’s limb off.
Robin, aged 16, dragging the Teen Titans all the way to Gotham to watch the new circus that had been touring around the States and just happened to stop in Gotham for a while.
Nobody could have truly predicted the death of the fortune teller and her son’s involvement in the crime.
Nightwing, aged 18, excitedly announcing to his little brother that the circus was in town, eager to show Jason a part of his history and how he grew up.
Only to watch the circus’ train crash while a Gotham rogue was on a rampage—there were six confirmed dead at the time of Nightwing and Robin’s involvement—but more were soon to follow.
Dick, aged 20, realising that circuses stopped passing by Gotham—and if they did, they never performed.
The risks were just too great—and they wouldn’t chance it, even if it was just superstitions.
Dick Grayson, aged 23, watching Haley’s Circus burn around him, just a candlewick’s flame from the south side of the river, standing firmly on Blüdhaven’s blood-soaked soil.
Dick realising that Gotham had never been the one cursed.

Tiktok is basically the place where someone's biggest argument is "it's canon that x character does x thing," and it's the most fanon fact there is.
No, Dick wasn't a cop any longer than any of his other jobs... And he's not unemployed either, that guy's resume must be at least three feet long.
No, Jason's central personality trait is not protecting women and children, he does that, but not as a standout trait; that's Selina.
No, Tim is not a cold calculating genius. The guy can be quite the idiot or just the crazy one of the group (he's a bat for God's sake).
No, Damian wasn't raised by Jason in the league of assassins. No, he's not that same kid you saw when he was 10 either, he's already a teenager now.
No, Cass is not mute, she didn't know how to speak, but now she communicates quite well with minimal grammar errors like anyone else.
No, Duke doesn't hate Dick. He felt betrayed, yes, but he got over it and actually admires him. (And he's not normal, no one is).
No, Steph doesn't want to be Bruce's daughter... And yes, she did call Nightwing hot, lol.
And no, Bruce is not incapable of being surprised or scared, and he definitely lost sight of his kids at least once lol

I don’t know if this has been said before but I think I’m beginning to get a little frustrated with the fact that people refuse to move past the cop Grayson characterisation of Dick—and then make it out to be as if Duke and/or Jason would have a problem with him for that as if his characterisation hasn’t changed drastically since then.
I get that people will cherry pick which parts of canon they prefer the most, and reboots/retcons mean close to nothing for most of the fandom but the latest Nightwing run is literally about how militarising the police is bad and how the police themselves perpetuate most gang violence in Blüdhaven from police brutality. Like Dick has clearly grown past the pro-police force character he was 20 years ago.
(I also understand that this is a by-product of fandom and fanon characterisation and the fact there is a divide between current comic-readers and those who actually create for fanfom—but I still find it frustrating)

Was thinking abt the batfamily as different races seen in Hyrule from Zelda
Here’s a very non-complete list of what I headcanon (most of these aren’t justified, just purely off vibes):
- Bruce: Zora — has been around for a quite literally forever and idk, him as like Zora aristocracy fits
- Damian: Zora also — as logic would dictate
- Dick: Rito — Robin, pretty self-explanatory
- Duke: also Rito — not because he has anything to do with Dick like Bruce and Damian. also initially I thought Gerudo, but logistics and lore got in the way
- Tim: kokiri — I know the kokiri are children but the idea is funny
- Cass: sheikah on her dad’s side, gerudo on her mum’s: no in depths reasoning, I just think it fits
- Alfred: sheikah — right hand man of powerful people, i think this one is also self-explanatory
- Jason: goron — I have 0 reasoning for this one, I just know
- Kate: Gerudo
I’ll come up with the rest another time lmao
(Also as a side note, other races might fit better too, but I’m only drawing from the games I’ve played, so no minish or anything like that)

Can I be honest? It’s a little frustrating how much the fandom downplays Bruce and Dick’s father-son relationship.
Bruce has now had two instances of hallucinating an ideal life where he and Selina are together and Dick is his/their son (even calling him “Dad” in one of them!).
There are countless panels where they refer to each other with terms like “my son,” “like a son to me,” “my boy,” “my father,” “like a father to me,” and lately, “Dad.” Alfred has made it crystal clear that Dick is Bruce’s responsibility, not his. Alfred is a parental figure, but Bruce is Dick’s primary parent.
And the current canon has Bruce immediately acknowledge his role as Dick’s father, and expressing concerns about his lack of experience as a parent (because he cares about doing a good job, not because he regrets it or Dick! While his inexperience leads to mistakes, you can see that he’s trying his best to learn from them).
