i really love the cast of the bear because they'll say sydcarmy are "connected forever" and "charged and sexy" and "the root of their relationship is passion" and "sometimes your partners at work, you can feel more connected to than your girlfriend or boyfriend" and "work can be a very intimate thing and a very personal thing and a very emotional thing" that (again) "invokes feelings of passion" but if you ever imply they could ever be into each other romantically, they act like you've grown three heads

if Sydney and Carmen's dynamic was purely platonic there wouldn't be this much awkwardness and tension between these two. Do you see how she interacts with Marcus vs how she interacts with Carmen?

The difference is so very clear and I won't go into detail about it because we all see it. There is so much tension between these two. It's a different kind of tension

I'm a therapist. We have to be intuitive. We have to know people and their motivations through observing them, how they behave, what they say. I mean it's all right there in this dynamic. I'm typically not one to go this hard over fictional characters but I hate the feeling of being tricked on...Sure they can be friends. They respect each other yes, but

I'm just thinking about the story of two young and hot people connecting on something they both love. Cooking. Creating. Something that obviously gives them so much joy, a sense of belonging and peace. (when they allow it to happen)

Just thinking about the deeply intimate space they constantly found themselves in without even realizing or acknowledging it. Just thinking about the possibility of those young and hot people truly opening themselves up to the vulnerability of being incredibly intimate with another human you share your joy with in such a beautiful way.

They can't deprive us of this beautiful and true love story...

It’s interesting because I’m not sure if this is what the show was actually going for, but when Sydney is complaining about Carmy to Natalie in S2E5, Sydney’s like, “I need Carmy, but he’s being Carmy, somewhere.” After that, we go to Carmy having an awkward conversation with Claire in her car, him being invited by her to a party that he didn’t have time for, nor did he actually want to be at (but he wanted to try it because he’d never been to one & he desired fun & amusement), then him at said party not wanting to be there & at one point, pretending to be someone else entirely. The last part stands out because it directly contrasts with Sydney saying that Carmy is being himself.

He’s not.

I finished episode 7 of The Bear. Looks like Sydney is done w/Carmen and his restaurant....

I keep thinking about this scene

Not only because it's the only time we have seen Carmy flirting his ass off. But because...that smile? man, he is just looking at her, kneading the flour, and it gives him this resemblance to a ship moving with the waves. Like her voice is making him dance. He just looks so content, doing the thing that is most natural to him, cooking, but also, because he is next to her, he has not a single worry in his mind. I don't think I have seen him this relaxed since the show started. Moments like this probably are so rare for Carmen. Also, the lighting? The sun resembles the type of sun they get in the table scene, it's a hard light that doesn't bother them, it's purposefully intense and comforting, just like them. There is no music, just the sound of her voice and his hands working, as it's just a scene of them talking about something that is exposition but is not like crazy in terms of foreshadowing (with this show you don't really know), and yet, the scene is so slow, its almost impossible to think that the show that made the to-go orders nightmare in one take, can also produce this, not to mention that a guy that made that scene, will also do this scene. People have mentioned how there are no clocks in scenes with Syd and Carmy talking like this, with them, the time stops, the worries stop, the trauma (the beast) goes back inside, it doesn't have a reason to fight.
