here is a photo of my last video project for surface. this post will be followed by a post of the TV playing the video, and i will also upload the actual video itself to video and link it here! i created the table that the television and the dvd player rest on, and burned the video that i made to the dvd. the dvd plays a video that i made, of a character that i play reciting a monologue from The Twilight Zone.

here is a video of one of my surface projects, in which i research ed paschke’s work and then made a piece inspired by him. he was very interested in the ways that technology affect us as people and our art, particularly television, so i created a video project in which i recited a monologue from The Twilight Zone (a popular TV show during the time he made work) and burned it to play on a DVD on the television.

these are my final pieces for surface this semester. i originally was going to make a large sculpture piece, but because of some personal issues, i was unable to finish it. instead, i tried to create a small painting tat was personal to my experience over the past few weeks, highlighting my own faults and problems. this piece was more about making something for myself that i didn’t have to think about and that i didn’t have to worry about it looking “right”. i used this project as a tool to help me relieve some of the stress and anxiety i’ve been feeling for the past few weeks. i don’t love these pieces, but i think it was important for time to make them and take some time to think about my own problems and try to work through them.

I had so much fun with Paul and Maki for their engagement shoot! Our first session happened at Busch Gardens the day that Paul proposed. I tried to avoid being seen by Maki (and I failed), but I managed to catch a video of the engagement and snagged some photos in the Christmas lights! We then took to Belle Isle for the rest of the shoot. Thanks for braving the cold with me guys! These turned out so lovely! All of the other photos can be seen here:

"flesh and bone”, 2017. welded steel and fabric. based off of Eavan Bolan’s poem “Anorexic”. loving the way these photos turned out! blanket it made of faux snakeskin and faux silk.
