I had never tried to so hard to include discordant harmonies in a song before. It was a challenge and a lot of fun. I’m glad people like it!

Mobile Konbeni

Many older Japanese, especially in rural areas, find it difficult to access services. 7/11 have for a number of years offered a rural home delivery of meals, and this Spring have started their mobile konbeni truck service.

Each truck is equipped with four temperature zones (room temp, cold, freezer, and hot), over 150 items from their fixed stores, and a driver capable of conversation. 7/11 see the driver as equally important to the milk, ice-cream, goma, onigiri, batteries and bento to connect with the elderly community with general conversation and advice on nutrition. 

Shoveling dirt this week at the minka, we stopped for a break just as the konbeni merged from our tunnel with its jingle playing, to provide us with cold can of coffee and an onigiri.

We loved the license plate, but did however think the number of shopping baskets was a little optimistic for our gun of three houses…
