Montenegro Day 2: We arrose to foraged figs and grapes. These dark purple seeded grapes that tasted like welches and grew “savage” as our Airbnb host called it. . After a sweltering walk down to the beach in 95 degree weather, with many stops along the way at air conditioned grocery stores, we had snacks and were ready to swim. We walked around the cliffs edge past busy beacches hoping that Mogran Beach was different, but it wasn’t. In an effort to find any space we laid our towels down closer than appropriate to other beach goers. Over the discarded bottles and cigarettes butts that people seem to not care to lounge with or discard properly. It was disappointing until we got into the water, and the shade crept to cover us and we remembered we were in paradise. . Just before they closed and as the sun was disappearing, we walked the Old Budva town city walls which turned out to be the highlight of our day. The temperature cool, alone on the walls we saw the sky light up. . That night we ate at Divorse, a strangely named but amazing Turkish restaurant covered in grape vines and hung with mosaic glass Turkish lanterns. Stuffed with just little lights up a steep hill to guide us, we walked home. . Today Lisah said that Budva was growing on her.

Budva, Montenegro from two opposite windows. One pristine water overlooking St. Nicolas Island (aka Hawaii), the other trash laden beach spotted with a few stragglers. . The worst thing about Budva was how little people took care of the beach. Their were cigarette butts everywhere so you laid out on a small pebbled beach alongside trash. . #cleanupafteryourself #leaveitbetterthanwhenyoucame #budva #montenegro #beach #instagramvreality

Montenegro Day 1: There are a few ways to get to Montenegro from Dubrovnik. Taking a bus, taking a taxi and taking a day tour which returns you back to Dubrovnik. Now Lisah and I are not really ones for touring but for a little extra money and bit of negotiating we got them to just take us there one way. So it was because of this we found ourselves driving direct in an air-conditioned mini bus, with historical commentary through 3 cities in Montenegro; Perast, Kotor and Budva. . Kotor too has an labertine old town, and though much smaller than Dubrovnik, was a pleasure to meander for a few hours. The main difference is the architecture, since it had not be completely bombed in the war and instead was compiled of a mish mash of classic Venitian, Baroque, Rococo and other styles. The bay water is an enchanting bright blue, and though it was nice, we were glad to continue on. . The next stop Budva, was the place I booked a house because it seemed centrally located. It was mentioned in articles that it was a Russian party town, so I booked outside of the city center - but I had no idea what to expect. . Prior to 10 years ago Budva was a sleepy fisherman’s town. But after some miscommunication around building outside of Kotor’s UNESCOs world heritage site, a LOT of Russian money came in to buy beach front property. It is now a little Russian where the food is heavily Russian leaning and you are almost expected to speak the language. I’ve never been to Russian so it was interesting if not just as a cultural experience. . We ate lunch in town, and since the it had been mid-90s and the beaches / streets were packed, we decided to lay low. And rather than go hard we climbed the long hill to the top, and relaxed at our Airbnb. . The walk was long, especially in that heat but the view was incredible. (at Kotor, Montenegro)

Shots from an abandoned hotel 20m outside of Dubrovnik, next to Sveti Jakob. It has the most beautiful view overlooking the water, it’s a wonder it is abandoned. But apparently because people didn’t come back for their properties after the war in 1991, the Croatian government and military have been fighting over who is able to take properties like this over since they are worth millions. Until then I guess this will just be spots used for cave diving and game of thrones.

Duvrovnik Day 2: We woke early to go on the “unoffical” Game of Thrones tours lead by our by our hostel owner, a Cambridge history graduate and former professor that had someone intertwined himself into three seasons of GOT. The tour was both part historical, part game of thrones and heavily related upon his scenes. We learned of the warring factions that sought to control this small walled city throughout time from the Ottoman Empire, to the Roman’s, to the Venicians and finally Yugoslavia (Serbians). The entire “walk shame” had been shot throughout the city walls and from the steps of the church, with locals hired as extras hurling insults about the Serbian war. . After we walked 20m out of town to the local Beach, sveti Jakob in the dead heat of the day. So the pebbled beach with little shade and crystal clear green water was a welcome relief. After minutes in the sun, we retreated to the shade and (after pissing off some dramatic French people) met up with an amazing Croatian/ English family that lived in Germany. We spent most of the day chatting with them in the shade until the sun lurched around and we followed the two teenage children to the new spot they had discovered. Just follow the pathway 5 minutes along the beach to the a bombed out / abandonedd hotel with dramatic views, a cliff to jump off of (which I did!) and a locals only secret. . Once in the water the children lead us to the underwater cave underneath the hotel. The hotel has been built on the cliff and had artificially cemented over the side so that to the naked eye - it appeared to go down into the sea. The 14 year old girl lead the way, telling me to make sure to swim deep and hold my breath for a while I went down since it went pretty deep. We resurfaced to a beautiful cave, the water shining from below illuminating the dank walls red with natural rock. For the game of throne lovers out there - this below the hotel that was used to film the scene where’re Jamie learned out to fight with his left hand. . From there we walked home, exhausted after the day we had a delicious meal, the daily catch, and listen to Frank Sinatra over Aperol Spritz. Finally falling asleep to the drama of our

Dubrovnik Day 1: A magical swirl of the exploring the old town for the first time. Our flight was slightly delayed so we arrived at Kingslanding hostel without a way to get in. Not exactly the experience I was looking for with the one hostel I booked but the bunks in the air conditioned penthouse made up for it. . The airport lounge peanuts hadn't held us over well so we immediately went out in search of dinner. Where we dined on Croatian wine, truffle gnocchi and sea bass, while watching the breeze blow through fresh laundry. The old town really is spectacular mix of sand stones and bright red terracotta roofs. . Then as the sun was fading we set out on our main journey, to swim. We wandered up 100+ stairs, around the libertine corners of the ramparts that walled in the city. And when it felt like we would never find a way to the sea we asked a man, hair wet from swimming. He motioned for us to follow and instead of continuing to wind around the stone walls he quickly took a sharp turn to the right through a small wooden door. A few steps through a circular corridor and we had reached the other side of the wall that opened out into a sweeping sea view, the sunset just colouring the sky. We ran down the steps, stripped off clothes and jumped off a 10ft cliff into the clear water. . As the sky got dark we readied ourselves for the night first grabbing wine and swigging by the public water fountain as drummers in classic clothing passed up and down the street (still not sure what this was about) to a beautiful bar overlooking a ink ocean for prosecco. What an amazing first day. . . . . . #dubrovnik #croatia #2montheurotrip #wanderlust #explorer #adventureculture #wanderer #travel #adventure #vacation #travelgram #explore #holiday #travels #traveler #traveller #traveling #travelphotography #exploretocreate #tourism #instapassport #traveltheworld #travelersnotebook #wandering #keepexploring #travelmore #wanderfolk #adventurer #travelporn #openmyworld #travelingtheworld #traveltips (at Dubrovnik - Old Town)

#Berlin Day 4: 10 mile #bike around the city only to find myself at resting with some seeded bread in #volksparkfriedrichshain when I heard the music start. I parked my bike and wandered around until I found its source. A #queer festival, packed with love and families. I grabbed a beer and sat on the lawn by myself watching countless red ballons fly away from tiny hands. So enthralled in people watching and the joy on their faces - I didn’t realize a bee had crawled into my beer. Took a very unfortunate swig 👄⚡️🐝 Big lip, total #buzzkill. Lefty is a gem among cats. Despite lacking half a tail, and one eye this cat makes up for it with tons of personality. They say those that burn half as a long burn twice as bright and I can’t think of an analogy that better describes this little guy. . Some say more like a dog than a cat, Lefty is a lover most of all. He will greet you at the door with a meow when you get home, and will search out the house to lie near (or on) you when there. And if you are lying down, Lefty will inevitably find a comfortable nook to nap. Be it his head curled under your chin or lying on his back in the crook of your arm as you rub his tummy. I have never before met a cat who comes up and hugs you with both arms. He really loves to love. . Dubbed “the world’s friendliest cat” by a friend that met him, this cat loves to be around people and would do well in a house where there are people/person around most of the day. Perfect for your grandmother than needs company or your child’s first friend. . He is very curious so either a large house or a enclosed outside area where he could explore would do him well. . He is also very vocal, that means meowing during the day (sometimes with apparent cause) as well as at night if he is left alone. This guy gets lonely at night without you around so if you have room in your bed, I suggest inviting him or having a house that is large enough for him to sleep in a room that is a bit off from the bedroom. . He is litter box trained, and is very good about only scratching on the scratching post (once he learns that is where he should scratch). But he does loves to “make biscuits”/kneed and scratch so make sure you have one nearby and trim his nails regularly. . Likes: -YOU! (and anyone you bring over to the house) -Being held like a baby -Tummy rubs -Food - this guy goes for it! -Chatting - very vocal! -Plays well with other cats -Grooming. . #adoptdontshopla #adoptdontshop #adoptacat @purritosla
