“omg you’re so creative. how do you get your ideas” i hallucinate a single scene in the taco bell drive thru and then spend 13 months trying to write it
The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes
I think one of my favorite creative joys is seeing how many different things people can do with the same concept. give ten writers the same starting point, or basic plot, or set of tropes to use and you're still going to get wildly different end results
the details you focus on, the ones you omit, turns of phrase, tone, and framing, the cadence and tempo of the sentences themselves, all the little fingerprints you've left littered across the prose — how you tell the story matters, and your personal voice is what makes it unique
I was inspired by a stressful day at work. This is a representation of a mantra I sometimes use: "be the healthy bear". I imagine myself a big bear with thick fur & the source of my stress a small squirrel throwing acorns at me that just bounce off. A healthy bear can ignore it....or use it as an opportunity. 😁
I still have to add the color. Unsure what medium I want yo use. I'm thinking of trying out my water color pencils. We shall see. 🤔
image description applying to all images: pictures of a small (a7) booklet featuring two birds, one green and one orange, talking to eachother, photographed in front of some plants and garden tiles. end ID.
i'd already made some art of this post by @jennythebot but the image it conjured in my mind was so delightful to me i decided to make a whole zine. this is my first printed zine! new skill unlocked!
in conclusion:
birds appreciate my tiny photographs! why is nobody talking about this?
OK. So! Remember how I said I was going to make a zine about being nonbinary from a Buddhist perspective? I did the thing! It's available on itch for free. There's a version for viewing on a screen (the "Gender is Empty zine.PDF" file) and a file that's been re-arranged to be printed (the "gender_is_empty_zine_typeset.PDF" file). I can't help you figure out your printer. You're on your own for that.
Anyway. It's 11 pages (5.5x8.5inch pages). Here it is! Hope you enjoy!
Tribute to my late grandma who was born in the year of the dragon. It’s my first Chinese New Year without her and I miss her so much.
When my parents divorced and essentially abandoned me for their new families, it was my grandma and grandpa who made sure I still felt loved. Without their care and guidance I probably wouldn't be here today.
She waits in the darkness and can only see when u see her. Love this!
I was in a phase of drawing marble statues, which eventually led to the creation of this painting. Don’t ask me what those blobs are. Pringles? Beans? Lava lamp wax? I have no idea 😤
A piece I'm currently working on. It's clay on art board. The clay has recycled newspaper in it. As it dried it curled the board. I'm not mad about that. I think it will add character to the finished piece. Rn I need to make a slurry to fill in the cracks. Unsure yet if I'll fill in all of the cracks or leave some to become part of the piece.
