Tamlin Week Day 7: Free Day

(Sorry for the late post T.T I was going back and forth on whether to share these!)

I dressed up as Tamlin again in the Love Nikki mobile game!

The first look is Tamlin in his High Lord attire enjoying the woods, joined by some familiar friends from last year's Tamlin Week xD

The second one is loosely inspired by Bookish_Gal’s Evil AU Feylin oneshot! Looking at him now, he kinda gives off Rhysand vibes… if he had blonde hair and red eyes ;_;

Day 100828277 of wishing people would stop romanticizing "High Lady" and using it as a tool to praise Rhysand.

Feyre is NOT a real "High" anything. "High Lord and Lady" must be chosen by the magic—SHE ISN'T. Feyre is NOT a real High Lady simply because she isn’t. SJM thought she nailed it with this, but she didn’t. People thought Rhys is the best mate ever and such a great feminist icon for doing this, but those who believe it are fools who don’t even use a tiny bit of critical thinking. "FEYRE THE HIGH LADY" is nothing more than a pacifier for Feyre and her stans, and they fell for it. After the High Lord meeting, Viviane and Kallias probably laughed at Feyre and then felt sad for her because she’s just so gullible. I doubt Viviane actually want another word in her title if it’s just a dumb, meaningless label.

TLDR: If not chosen by magic, no one is a true High Lord or High Lady. Feyre’s title is meaningless, and the only ones unaware of it are likely her and Rhys’s GULLIBLE AF mafiastancult.

While the “Tamlin unwittingly led the High Lady of the Night Court into the heart of his territory” is cool for Feyre and a fun line to end the book with, I hate that it just discredits the fact that the only reason he did that was because he trusted Feyre, and not because he’s a bumbling fool, nor because of Feyre’s own merit 😭

Like it just felt undue to me? Idk

The whole “Feyre is a Night Court spy in the Spring Court, we’re so cool and strategic 😈” was always so meh to me anyway, cause like Tamlin let her in on good will; y’all didn’t really get the drop on him, you basically just used his trust and lied. Up until then, he saw Feyre as a trustworthy person, and I don’t think it’s stupid to trust a woman who helped save all of Prythian, especially when they’re praised as super moral and charitable by the narrative and fans 🤷‍♀️

Like if he didn’t trust Feyre anymore, he would just get hated for that- there’s no winning for him

tbh thinking about feyre being a painter and then Rhys using paint to defile her body UtM. Imagine the thing that brings you the most joy used to make you horrified and miserable only for SJM to completely ignore it and then use that same paint to have Rhys paint on feyre the first time they have sex and Feyre NOT have a weird relationship with her craft as a painter

The High Lords should have been infinitely more suspicious of Rhysand post UTM

Rhysand: Hello my fellow lords! Do not fear!! I am not actually evil!!! The time I spent UTM as Amarantha's ally? I was actually acting for the good of Prythian!!

The other High Lords: Oh cool, so you must have a bunch of intel and useful information, like for example, who the mysterious 'other daemati' who killed all those Winter Court children is?

Rhysand: Alas no!!! 😔

The other High Lords : ... Ok, so that's a no to valuable information. What was the point of allying yourself with Amarantha again?

Rhysand: You got me! So that I could keep Velaris; famous for being shielded with centuries old spells and wards so powerful that not even any of YOU other High Lords knew about it, secret😇 FOR THE GOOD OF PRYTHIAN, OF COURSE

The other High Lords: ...

The other High Lords: ... So you're saying that for 50 years, all that your 'noble sacrifice' achieved was keeping a secret city... secret.

Rhysand: Aren't I the most clever and powerful?!

I couldn’t help but cry when Feyre arrived at the Summer Court with Rhysand, and he declared, “She’s High Lady, she can do whatever she wishes.” I mean, yes, Feyre is the High Lady, but she’s the High Lady of the Night Court, and here they are in the Summer Court. The weight of his words, while meant to be empowering, just felt a bit misplaced in that context. And then, Feyre had her moment where she tried to be all girlboss, saying something like, “Take care of your injured.” I wanted to scream, “Shut the hell up!” It felt so out of place, like she was trying too hard to command the room without really understanding the situation.

It was infuriating to think about how Feyre and Rhysand walked into the Summer Court, a court they had literally stolen from, acting as if nothing had happened. The tension was palpable. They’d taken the Book of Breathings right from under Tarquin’s nose, deceiving him in the process, and now they had the audacity to stroll in, expecting him to be okay with it all.

What made it worse was how they completely disregarded anything Tarquin said. He wasn’t just some stranger or enemy; he had once welcomed them as allies, offered them friendship, and they betrayed that trust. And yet, here they were, acting like they were above it all. Rhysand’s casual dismissal of Tarquin’s frustration—like his words didn’t matter, like their betrayal could just be swept under the rug—was a blatant show of arrogance. It was as if they expected him to forget everything, to simply move on, because they were the Night Court and they believed their agenda was more important than anyone else’s.

Even Feyre, with her attempts at diplomacy, came off as condescending. They both acted like they could just walk in, ignore the hurt they caused, and play their power games. It was a slap in the face to everything the Summer Court had stood for. Tarquin had every right to be furious.

I gotta give props to Tamlin. He was fighting a war on three fronts.

Against Feysand and the Night Court

Against Hybern as a spy while trying to prevent them from digging their claws further into his court

A losing battle against SJM

He did well and he came out a war hero and the better male. I'm proud of you Tamlin. You may be at rock bottom but it is up from here now unless SJM kills you. But I have faith the fic writers will resuscitate you.

Tamlin who had to lash his friend Lucien 20x UTM after begging for Lucien's life. And all because Lucien tried to defend Feyre.

Tamlin who had to wear a physical mask for 50 years and have his powers reduced, and be haunted by his people and his fellow citizens kidnapped and living UTM.

Tamlin who such a progressive ruler that the Lords, who wanted things the same way as his father, fled the court rather than serve him.

Tamlin who gets called a conservative, archaic, punitive leader for collecting a Tithe (which is just another word for Taxes). Yet, we don't get to see how Rhysand collects his revenue and tax funds, but we do know they slums in Velaris and a group of people who are segregated and forced to live under a mountain, never seeing daylight.

Tamlin who listened to Feyre as she asked if SHE was just going to be called "Tamlins wife?..." He didn't respond in a misogynistic way. He actively listened to her & asked her if she 'wanted a title'? Then she stated her concerns, and he responded to her concerns by reassuring her that there was no such thing as a High Lady. Not that there NEVER would be or no berating of any sort.

Tamlin who blew up a room with Feyre in it. Who immediately apologized and tried to fix it with time and gifts and apologies. Who now is deemed an abuser by Fandom, despite, canonically speaking the blowing up of magic in stressful situations is a standard action throughout the series and universes. (TOG Dorian Wall, CC Bryce Interrogation Room, Feyre HL Mtg-injured Lady of Autumn Court a bystander, CC Rhysand Nestas home- Could have killed Bryces mortal parents). The second time he erupted was an intentional misuse and riling of this form of magic. Also note he had just regained his powers. And acts like this have a higher liklihood at the onset of magic.

Tamlin who woke up one morning to his home being invaded by Rhysand. While Feyre was still naked and in bed. A PTSD moment for sure, after the last time Tam woke to find Rhys at his bedroom door was right after his family had been murdered. Rhys then insinuated that he needed better enhancements on his property (low blow) but one that also caused paranoia, trauma, and fear...of Feyres safety in his own home and only escalated drastic measures to break the bargain.

Listen, I fully believe if Nesta and Tamlin got to compare notes on how the NC treats them they could have bonded. And it would be hilarious.
