Little info about the culture. Travelled to Delta for my dad’s ‘Alor’ title ceremony. His chieftancy title is ‘Ogbuenyi’. Last slide we’re saying ‘Aunty Mary don’t dance oh!’ because they said only red cap chiefs could dance 😂You see a chief come to tell my mum to stop moving her legs to the drums as well, but they invite her to join them later. My dad is the one that they baffed in powder btw 😭 Everyone’s wearing ‘Akwa ocha’ because that’s the traditional attire of Anioma people (Delta Igbo communities). Akwa ocha is mainly white, sometimes with red writings on it; but my mum found some vendors that now make different colors like the green ones we have on. Beautiful stuff fr, but super heavy 😭 I know I promised some people I’d post more about it, but I didn’t get much else so hopefully these suffice. Hated celebrating my birthday before this one last year and it was right before the pandemic even.
