Nutritionists generally hate the idea of “stealth veggies,” arguing that children should learn to eat their vegetables and like them, darn it.
Kids Don’t Mind If You Put Veggies In The Cake
Will kids eat their veggies if they’re inside desserts? Parents and nutritionists have been debating this question for years.
Now, it seems there’s an answer: Yes, if it’s broccoli in the cake. No, if it’s chickpeas in the chocolate-chip cookies. -Nancy Shute
Somehow the idea of putting broccoli into cake doesn’t sound to appealing. -Savy

Interesting letterboxes
We were driving through Main Range National Park in south east Queensland recently, which runs past some private properties. Along the way, we noticed some very creative letterboxes which we had to share.
The box of Thrive (a powdered plant feeding mix) looked great along with the super-sized watering can.
Tumblr media
This family of metal robots were pretty impressive too – it would have certainly taken a lot of time to make! We’re not sure how inviting an entrance this is, though, especially given the spikes on those wheels!
Tumblr media
This microwave is a great example of humour and recycling – who would have thought you’d get your letters from the same place as you heat up food!
Tumblr media
We’re keeping our eye out for more examples of creative letterboxes. If you've seen some, do share!

Brand new medical clinic opening in Perth, Western Australia
We're very excited about the new medical clinic about to open in Perth. Northbridge Medical Centre is a brand new purpose built premises with a world class fitout and state of the art equipment. It is going to fill an important gap in the area and will serve the growing Northbridge community. Both doctors and patients are going to enjoy their time at the practice.
Northbridge, just north of the Perth CBD, is undergoing substantial change. New apartments are being built at a fast pace, and once the adjoining train station is sunk, it will open up the precinct directly to the CBD. Read more about the Perth City Link project here.
Northbridge Medical Centre is looking for General Practitioners to join their team. These are top opportunities, and what's even more fantastic is that OTDs and Non VR GPs can apply to work there too. Medical jobs this close to the city are not always availalable, so check out these opportunities now - both full time and part time positions are available. They also have a very lucrative after hours position avaialble.
You'll be very pleased with what you see!

This links to the 'General Practice Training Program National Minimum Terms and Conditions for GPT 1 and GPT 2 Registrars' which is updated for 2012.
This is relevant to GPT 1 and GPT 2 Registrars who are part of the Australian General Practice Training program. Doctors who want to become Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in Australia take part in this GP Training Program. (Note that there are other ways of obtaining a RACGP Fellowship, but the AGPT program is main one used).
GPT 1 refers to the first six-month placement in a general practice or equivalent setting within the AGPTP, and GPT 2 refers to the second six-month placement.

Another one of Mark Sheen's brilliant shots is above the clouds atop Mount Teranaki North Island New Zealand - this one look very magical indeed. It is also known as Mount Egmont and has some resemblance to Mount Fuji in Japan.

Working as a locum doctor in Australia
Working as a locum doctor (also known as locum tenens) is a great way for medical professionals to enjoy high-paying jobs while at the same time exploring Australia.
What sorts of locum jobs are available to doctors?
A range of locum jobs are available. These range from junior doctors all the way through to specialists and consultants. Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Registrars can find work in emergency departments across the country. Surgeons are also in demand, especially in rural and remote areas.
Some doctors with a permanent job in a hospital or practice decide to locum for a short period during their holidays as a way to earn additional income or save for a holiday. Others travel from locum to locum.
How long are locum jobs usually for?
Locum appointments can last for a few days or for several months. You might enjoy the work so much that you decide to stay! It really just depends on the need of the practice or hospital. If things go well for both parties, then you many mutually agree to extend the initial contract.
What are the most important factors in getting a locum job?
First, you need to be a qualified doctor in your field, and you need to be eligible to work in Australia. A sense of adventure and flexibility are important too. If you are single, you can go anywhere. If you will be travelling with a partner or children, your choices may be a bit more limited, but if they are supportive then it’s possible to work anywhere. Imagine the memories that your children will have of accompanying their parents as they travel across the country?
Some doctors enjoy locuming so much that it becomes their long-term source of work.
What’s included in locum doctor job deals?
Depending on the where the doctor is needed, travel, accommodation and a car can be included in a locum job. This is fantastic because it means that the doctor will only have to pay for their meals, so they can save the rest of their income or use it to explore the region.
How can doctors find locum jobs?
Search on All Jobs Health, of course! All Jobs Health enables doctors to specifically look for locum work, as well as specify whether they want travel, accommodation and a vehicle included. It also ensures that doctors have flexibility about where they want to work, because they’re not tied in with a specific employer.

Our week at the AAPM 2011 National Conference
We had a fantastic week at the Australian Association of Practice Managers 2011 National Conference held in Perth, Australia from October 18 to 21. As a major sponsor for the conference, we were delighted to see delegates enjoying our ads in the conference guide.
One of the best parts of the conference was the opportunity that we had to meet delegates from across Australia. They represented general practices, specialist practices, Aboriginal Health Services, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and more. We enjoyed learning about the hard work that Practice Managers do to support their practitioners and to look after their patients. We also had the opportunity to host an evening of drinks and discussion for a few delegates.
It was so exciting to see our Twitter hashtag suggestion for the conference - #AAPM2011 - being used by several attendees. We of course sent out a few tweets ourselves - you can check them out at www.twitter.com/AllJobsHealth.
There were some fantastic presentations at the AAPM conference. After the welcome to country, Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi gave a fantastic welcome. She said so many great things about Perth, and we felt especially proud, given that All Jobs Health is located in the City of Perth.
Dr Sally Cockburn gave an entertaining presentation about health and life, and some insipirational examples from her patients. She had some great slides, including one about how patients are increasingly looking for their medical information on Google. Her solution - look up Google with her patients!
Dr Carmen Lawrence (former WA Premier and Federal politician) offered insightful thoughts about the relationship between economic development and human wellbeing, as well as the environmental consequences of increasing consumption. She also spoke about how technology was supposed to give us more time at home - instead, in developed countries, we're working longer hours and with increased intensity. She suggested that we take time to enjoy our natural surroundings so that we can relax - even if for a short time.
Several sessions were about eHealth, and in particular the progress being made by NEHTA (Australia's National eHealth Transition Authority) in moving toward a PCEHR (Personally Controlled eHealth Record). The aim of course is to provide better communication between healthcare providers, ultimately heading to better health management for individuals. This will be particularly relevant for those with chronic conditions, such as diabetes or asthma.
Tony Bongiorno from Bongiorno Group gave a couple of excellent presentation - one was about appropriate business structures for medical-related entities, and another was about his personal experience and advice for achieving work-life balance.
AAPM2011 ended with a gala dinner, which was a perfect conclusion to the conference. Suffice to say, All Jobs Health is looking forward to the next one.

Australian Association of Practice Managers 2011 National Conference
We're super-excited to be a major sponsor at the Australian Association of Practice Managers 2011 National Conference in Perth, Australia.
The AAPM Conference is a great opportunity for healthcare Practice Managers to increase their professional knowledge and mingle with their colleagues from across Australia.
We've created two really cool advertisements for the conference handbook, and we just can't hold on until the conference begins to share them.
Here's the first one - we love the little character who looks so pleased to be welcoming delegates to the AAPM 2011 conference.
Tumblr media
Our second ad is pretty exciting too. It's our resident adventurer, Mark Sheen, when he reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in April. We're lucky that he managed to battle the wind so he could get a great shot with our All Jobs Health flag. The big question is - where will he go next?
