"I don't know. I'm not mom. If you want an answer to that you're going to have to ask her." Xander shook his head, letting out a heavy sigh as he looked down at the ground for a moment before lifting his head back up. "Don't worry I'm not going to tell her I found you." he knew that if Miles wanted to speak to her it would have to be on him, and wasn't something that could be forced.
"why did it matter if i was ready yet? i'm more mad that she never told me at all and i had to find out through a conversation you were having with her." miles found out everything he could about his family which is why he was even in the DFW in the first place.

"Come on it's on me" she grinned, linking her arm through his and heading over towards the bar.
end

"Eh, You're one of the very few people who believe that" He smiled softly at her. "But I appreciate it..." he looked down at his empty glass and sighed "I shouldn't, but who could say no to you"

"Missing? I'm one of the most known people in this place. I'm viewed by the majority of households every night 5 nights a week. If that's not spotlight I don't know what is" Whitmore gave a laugh and a wink at Vox. It was different though. Whitmore was good at his job. He had to be. He had a legacy to live up to and he'd worked hard at it...it just wasn't a passion and Whitmore did a good job of hiding that fact. Usually. With 99% of people.
Vox frowned at the nickname and rolled his eyes, feeling his own lips twitch at the familiar smirk but ignoring that feeling. "You almost sound disappointed it's only one scene, missing the spotlight that much?"

Kelly returned a laugh, "no, there's still plenty left on the menu for another time. Figure just get enough to give us some options and split leftovers." he finished putting the order in, it'd be about 45 minutes. "Oh umm sure." he nodded, "What's on your mind?"

"Are you ordering the whole menu there mate?" He chuckled and shook his head "Yeah that's fine, we can split the cost. Just let me know what I owe you and I'll send it to you later tonight" he slipped his phone out of his pocket to just scroll through while he waited. and then he had a though come time kind that he wanted to talk to Kelly about. "Hey Kel? Can I ask you something...about recovery.."

"Not as bad as it could have." Xander wasn't sure it was the type of situation that could have gone any other way. Worse yes, but good? The entire reason for Xander having to look for Miles made it impossible for it to go 'good.' "I mean at least I don't think he hates me, so that's something."

"Unfortunately my family is well known. I've been in the lime light since I was born" His brother didn't talk about it. But Ken had seen the Magazines. The announcement that his mother had passed after he was born, then his father a few years later. "oh wow, how did that go?"

"Stealing it from him on the spot would be an amateur move" Gad said, taking the reheated ravioli out of the microwave. "I did disconnect his computer from networking with all the office printers earlier" sure that did mean eventually mean it'd have to be fixed again, but Gad could always either pawn it off onto one of the other IT workers or put it lower down on the priority list. The 'I'll get to it when I get to it' kind of requests. "but honestly that wasn't even for this. That was just for fun. I also stole the picture he had on his desk of him at the Eiffel Tower and hid it somewhere."
"Melted, mixes better and I don't like cold cheese that much," Nitro replied before taking a large bite, and continuing to watch Gad. He nodded at his explanation, "Chimichangas are weird, I'm surprised you didn't try to steal it from him though." Then again he was stealing his lunch now so it seemed fair to him. "Any other plans or are you waiting for the right moment? They're doing his birthday cake next Friday."

where: ice rink
who: Kipton and Caspian (@cyberneticatoms)
If there was one consistent in Kipton's life it was that if there was a home game being played at least one Bowen would be in the stands. Be it parent or sister or cousin. He'd spotted Caspian in the second period of the game wondering if he'd come alone, and if he'd been there the whole time and Kipton just hadn't seen him til then. It was always a nice surprise seeing his cousin given the nature of his job and not always being able to have the time off to come to a game. Kipton had even remembered to give a wave to him from the ice before heading off to the sides at the end of the second period.
The third period had gotten underway and both Kipton and some of the other members of the home team had been playing what might have been their best game of the whole season. He'd scored two goals himself, coming in with several assists to the 9 goals in the current 9 to 7 score on the board. 7 minutes were left of the game. 7 minutes to either score again to further the distance between the points or to simply focus on keeping the other team from scoring. 6 minutes. The score still at 9 to 7. 5 minutes 25 seconds. The loud sound of a hockey stick hitting ice and connecting with the puck in a slapshot could be heard followed shortly by the sound of a ref's whistle, putting a stop to the puck still in play.
A few of the home players had remained in the spot, it was obvious something had happened. An injury, but who was still unclear. That was until the player started to stand back up with the help of a teammate pulling him back up to his feet. Kipton. The team's youngest player. He gave a nod and thumbs up to the ref that he felt like he was good to keep playing, but that was short lived. 4 minutes 58 seconds in a fight over the puck a loud scream rang out from the ice as the other player's stick made multiple connections with the same spot the puck had.
It was only then that Kipton was pulled from the last few minutes of the game and taken back to be looked at by the medics on staff. One going out to try and find the family member Kipton had mentioned was there, giving them a description of what Caspian was wearing and hoping that he hadn't had to leave early.
Once they'd located him they brought him back to where Kipton was sat up on one of the treatment tables, legs stretched out, and the right ankle, extremely swollen and bruised, was elevated up and under a bag of ice. "Did we win?"
#kipton: caspian#length does not need to be matched#in fact i highly encourage it not to be#also this was always my plan but the fact that the cousin that works in orthopedics won the wheel for the starter is hilarious to me#under read more cause length mostly#also yes i did wait til after midnight my time to post this just so i wasn't mean to kipton on his bday lol

"Something like that" Whitmore mirrored her words back at her as an answer to her question. He took another drink, this time just finishing off the rest of it and raising his hand up to signal the waiter for another.
"Something like that," Luz replied with a smile, picking up her drink and having a large sip from it. It was a little ironic how the tables had turned. In the past, she would go out and look for someone to distract her from Whitmore, and now she was using Whitmore to distract her from her other inconvenient feelings. "Did you notice my absence?"

"yeah yeah I know" Capra said, his voice sort of trailing off as he nodded. As much as he played it off he did know that Hyland meant it.

"Smart kid" He chuckled "But I'm serious If you need something you let me know."

"Fair enough" Indigo chuckled as she mentioned her siblings. "Oh yeah, I heard about that too." they took a drink of their water. "Might go down there later and check it out. See what the set up is."
"Uhm, have you met my siblings? Minnie and Mick don't know the meaning of the word crowded. They're literally attached at the hip. They would exist on top of each other if they could." Julie let out a soft laugh as she poured them each a glass of water. "Hey, I heard In Shambles are keeping their doors open. Bonus, you can get drunk there."

"what kinds of things other than little robots?" Gad asked, wondering whether or not Grayson would tell him. Not everyone disclosed this type of information in public. If he didn't he'd just have to find a more private way to get it.
"i build stuff for other people sometimes, little robots like harold usually." grayson said. it was the truth at least, it was usually that but there were times he would occasionally build something more high tech if he was commissioned.

"It's a real mystery isn't it" Obsidian returned the grin and gave a cheeky little wink along with it. "What's up?" they asked, being even more casual in their tone than they would be even with regulars. Unlike them Pip could be in here for anything really. Shop related or not. Usually not.
closed starter for @allwiredwrong (obsidian) location: the cosmic emporium
The mystic shop always smelled so heavily of incense, and Pip couldn't really stand to be in it for too long; however, he was really hoping he was about to catch Obsidian just before his shift ended, because otherwise he was going go give himself a headache.
"There's my favorite witch," Pip grinned widely. "Right? I'm pretty sure you're a witch. I don't know how you could work here if you weren't."

"I've got all the stuff out for it already. It's a strawberry banana spinach one, apparently I've got a potassium deficiency or something according to the doctor, but I've got other fruit in the freezer if you didn't want that kind. There's peaches and raspberries too. Maybe something else further back in it, but I didn't check."
"oh okay." brandon said as the door was closed, rocking back and forth on his heals while he waited. he'd tried to tell jaron that he didn't care about what his place looked like but he knew it all came down to personal preference so he never pushed it.
"hi!" he greeted back, chuckling and nodding, "sure i'll take a smoothie. want any help with it?"

"I'm in a band, but I do just play for funsies sometimes. Not that playing in a band isn't fun as it is"
"they can be average fancy, i dunno." atlas didn't play any instruments himself but he liked to pretend he did, call it a fantasy maybe. "you in a band or just play for funsies?"

Leland looked down at her hand before taking it "Yeah, I can teach you. It's actually pretty easy once you get the hand of it" at least he hoped it was. Despite having played it for years he'd never taught it to anyone before. "We could hold hands" he gave a grin and nod.
Mel shook her head, but didn't look the least bit deterred by her lack of knowledge of the game. "I've never played coin-ball! But we could totally play that if you teach me how." They finished their drink before standing up and offering Leland their hand. "Both sounds perfect. Do you... Maybe wanna hold hands while we walk there?"
