Yvonne Marrow felt like she was doomed from the day she was born. Her father left what felt like months after, it didn't help that when she was only 6 her brother and favorite person in the world was leaving her for New York.

She was 12 by the time he came visited, an oh boy did she let him know she was upset about it. Even before the visit her mother had told Zeke she was acting out. It only got worse as she got older (Despite Zeke's promise to visit more).

She started to going to parties, drinking a doing whatever new drug the kids around her were doing. She did horribly in school never really finding a place to fit in. She missed her brother yes, but as she got older she started to realize that maybe it was a good thing he wasn't around. She began to resent him.

Yvonne got a lot of crap for not "Being more like her brother". She tried, tried joining drama but the girl couldn't get so far as being in tech, and when she joined a band she couldn't stay sober enough to actually make it work. The only Person she felt she could be her True Self around was Raymond Winters, She knew that if he was at a party the mood and the Drugs were gonna be good. Claire is originally from the United Kingdom. She was born into a working-class family in a village near Manchester, and for the first 18 years of her life, going into the city was pretty much as far from her country hamlet as she got.

She was bright, studious, and disciplined, and her diligence was rewarded when she received an academic scholarship to study at Oxford University—making her the first person in her family to attend any form of higher education.

Once there, she struggled to be accepted by her wealthier peers due to her obvious working-class background. She didn't dress like them, she didn't speak like them, and because her scholarship only covered tuition and housing, she had to work a part-time job at a pub to make ends meet. She quickly developed an intense distaste for entitlement and a pretty sizeable chip on her shoulder.

She did manage to make a handful of good friends there—primarily by getting involved in the local theatre scene. She briefly dipped her toes into acting, but eventually found that she much preferred to work behind the scenes. It was during her time at Oxford that she wrote and produced her first play.

After graduating with a joint honours in History and English Literature, she moved to London with a couple of friends from university who were all looking to start careers in the West End. Claire started working as a production assistant, adding a handful of successful musical theatre productions to her resume in the almost five years that she lived there, while still pursuing writing on the side.

She made the move from London to New York when she was offered a job with a producer who was based there. She was still new to the city when she met Zeke Marrow and ended up falling head over heels for Broadway's golden boy. She had no idea what he saw in her, nor did she understand how she even caught his eye in the first place, but somehow they ended up together.

For the next few years, she experienced what it was like to be in a relationship with someone significantly more famous and successful than she was. Zeke was loving and supportive, and their relationship worked really well out of the public eye, but even if she tried to ignore it, it started getting to her that she was always seen and mentioned in relation to him and not for her own merits.

It took her a while to realise that she had subconsciously started neglecting her own aspirations in favour of supporting him, and it took her even longer to work up the courage to voice her dissatisfaction with that; but once she did, Zeke was nothing but encouraging of her focusing on her own career and goals.

As her star rose, the imbalance in their relationship slowly started shifting in her favour. Her name was being attached to bigger projects, people in the industry were talking about her without mentioning who she was dating, and when the musical that she had written with a friend in London was bound for Broadway after a successful West End run, she was faced with a dilemma.

She had a boyfriend who was a talented singer and actor, but after spending years being referred to as "Zeke Marrow's girlfriend" by everyone, there was a part of her that was afraid of how it would look if she put him in her show. And perhaps there was also a part of her that was a little petty when she eventually told him that she had no intention of involving him in the production.

After that, things between them got increasingly tense and they started arguing a lot more often. It didn't help that when she did cast the male lead, the actor in question started spending a lot of time with Claire, fuelling rumours that they were having an affair. The worst part? There were a significant amount of people who wanted it to be true because they thought that they were cute together.

It was not long after Zeke got into an actual physical altercation with the man that he suddenly broke things off with her and left the city—leaving Claire completely stunned and heartbroken without any real explanation.

Holly is and has always been a force of nature. She goes wherever she wants to go and does whatever she wants to do. Once her mind is set on something, the only thing that can make her change course is her own flights of fancy.

She came into the world alongside her twin sister Noelle, but other than their identical faces and striking red hair, the two seem to have very little in common. Their personalities and aspirations have always stood in stark contrast to each other. Whereas Noelle married young with the intention of settling down to start a family, Holly wanted to travel the world, make meaningful art, take a different lover in every port, and accept as little responsibility as humanly possible.

It was perhaps not a surprise, given her impulsive nature and generally reckless behaviour, that Holly found herself accidentally pregnant via a casual fling in her early twenties. Glitch has no memories of his life before he was 16

Prior to this he had a different name and lived in a different city.

The oldest of two boys, a synth (himself) and a human (his younger brother)

He was nine when his younger brother drowned in the family pool. He had done his best to save him, but by the time he'd found him it was too late.

His parents, especially his mother, blamed him for the death as "he was supposed to have been watching him" when really they shouldn't have left two children alone without an adult or even a teenage babysitter while they went out for the night.

The years that followed only brought on more resentment and a coldness from them towards their remaining son. Even to the point of his mother refusing to call him that or acknowledge him as such. He wasn't her son, he was the machine that was the reason her son was dead.

What made it worse was her blatant sense of entitlement; the fact that she did it all with impunity, and yet continued to get away with it scot free. She never got into any real legal trouble. But her reputation was a different story.

She was involved in a seemingly never-ending parade of scandals in both her professional and personal life. There were persistent rumours that she was very difficult to work with, that she often failed to show up on time (if she showed up at all), and that when she did, she was almost always drunk or high.

At the same time, her private life was filled with its own share of drama that was subject to public scrutiny. She seemed to have a new partner every month, her relationships almost always involved some form of infidelity, and every single one of them ended badly. Sometimes she was the cheater. Sometimes she was the mistress. Even her platonic relationships had a tendency to break down publicly because she was revealed to be a bad friend in one way or another.

Eventually, her family and her team made the decision that it would be best for her to move out of LA. Relocating to DFW was supposed to be a chance for Misty Rose to start over, but without making any real changes to her personality or behaviour, it was only a matter of time before her public scandals continued.

She lived off her passive income, attended therapy, and was considering going back to school for her degree. And then shit hit the fan.

Once again, she found herself thrust into a public scandal, except for the first time it really wasn't of her own doing. News leaked that a popular adult virtual reality dating simulator had been used to impersonate real people's likeness and personality. Several victims were discovered, both public and entirely private figures, but Misty Rose was arguably one of if not the most famous.

Unlike many others, she had the resources to take her case to court; and while a part of her wanted to wait for the heat to die down and slowly go back to being a nobody again, she also wanted justice. For herself and the other victims.

The court case is ongoing and public opinion is split on whether she should be considered a sympathetic victim. Some want to give her the benefit of the doubt, arguing that she is a casualty of childhood stardom, while others see her as an ungrateful brat who is only trying to claw her way back into relevancy.

Misty Rose is aware that she is a divisive figure and has avoided commenting on it. She was raised in the upper district, and while her parents didn't outright spoil her, they made it easy for her to earn the things that she wanted. If she finished her homework, got good grades, and didn't miss her curfew, she was rewarded accordingly. If she wanted something in particular, they would set her a goal to achieve; and when she did, they would give it to her without question.

In school, she was a part of the popular clique; not a popular clique, but the popular clique. She wasn't naive to the fact that it was her family's connections in the entertainment industry that gave her status, but if she could help out her friends while also elevating her own social standing, why wouldn't she?

It was her dramatic nature and a somewhat shallow view of love that put a dent in her otherwise perfect high school career. Dating Jaron definitely did nothing for Fate's popularity—in fact, it did the opposite—but that was also part of the excitement. It was fun and forbidden, and alienating all of her friends made her feel like she was living in a real-life romantic drama. She did genuinely like him, but it would be a lie to say their differences weren't a part of the appeal.

Neve was born and raised in the outskirts of Dublin by their mom and stepdad. The 'step' label was entirely a formality; their mother got married when they were still a child, and their biological father was never in the picture.

The three of them were as loving and close-knit as a family could be. Sadly, life isn't fair, and they only got a handful of years together before Neve's mom got sick. At the end, she was more calm and accepting of her fate than the other two, making them promise to hold on to each other after she was gone.

Luckily, the loss brought them even closer together and they managed to stay true to their word. Even now that they're an adult, if you ask Neve who their best friend in the world is, they will say it's their dad without a second thought.

Their mom had left an extensive vintage record collection behind, and when Neve started showing an interest in music, their dad supported them fully. He even went as far as remodelling their garage to serve as a practice space.

Neve shared their interest in music with their friend and eventual boyfriend (and bandmate) Zayne. The two started dating back in middle school, and if you asked Neve later on how long they'd been together, their answer was always the same: "For as long as I can remember. So basically forever."

They formed a band with people in their shared social circle, and while they were all close friends and had fun playing together, the thing that drove them was that they were also all serious about pursuing music professionally. After playing for years, they were finally gaining some traction locally when the death of Zayne's brother brought everything to a screeching halt.

Because of how important his brother was to the family, Zayne agreed to step back from pursuing music, relocate to the United States, and even have himself reprogrammed with his brother's personality. Neve was angry, distraught, and utterly heartbroken, even when he offered for them to stay together. What would be the point? He would be Zayne in name only. He wouldn't be their Zanny.

Nobody in the band wanted to replace him, and they couldn't really make it work without him, leading to them splitting up. Losing both their partner and their band at the same time was hard on Neve. They couldn't even distract themselves with university, because they had chosen to get a degree in Music Performance, and now the thought of performing made them recoil.

It wasn't until they met Kelly and Prince, whom had also been through the loss of their previous band, that Neve could even entertain the idea of performing with a group again. With a friendly push from their dad, they joined the two in forming Haunted Doll Watch and eventually toured around Ireland and the UK. Phelan started their life as an unwanted surprise. Born on the floor of one of the spare rooms his mother hadn't even known she was pregnant with a second child til she was already well into labor.

Not wanting to seem like the kind of people that just gave up a child when they more than had the means to care for them, they opted to just keep Phelan a secret instead. They had an image to uphold, after all.

They didn't give him a proper name, and was only ever referred to as 'It.' "Did you remember to feed It?" "It needs a bath"

He was taken care of just enough that they wouldn't die, the last thing they needed wasn't someone discovering another kid it was someone discovering a dead one.

Starting at the age of 5 she basically became nothing more than a guinea pig for her older brother. Anytime he expressed wanting an enhancement their parents would sneak her out at night to go to the lower district and pay some doctor off to give her whatever enhancement their son wanted. That way he could see what it would do, and whether or not he still wanted it after a couple of weeks. They would then take the older son to get the best version of it in the upper district.

The years of doing as much as they could to dehumanize them made their decision to use her as their own personal test subject for their spoiled brat of a son even easier.

There were plenty of times where after a few days the brother just decided he no longer had interest in a certain enhancement, leaving Phelan to just have to live with another faulty cybernetic anyways.

By the time Phelan was 14 she already had more enhancements, including prosthetics for body parts that didn't actually need them, than most people would have in their entire lives. Many of these being faulty in one way or another such as cybernetic eyes that often short out, leaving her blind. Sometimes for just seconds, other times for days.

At 17 she was found by Aiden and Knightley Frost in an abandoned building, going through one of those large dumpsters trying to find things that maybe she could use to repair some of the faulty cybernetics that she had been unwilling forced to have and that his parents didn't want to do any maintenance for

Outside of the doctors that had performed all of the enhancements over the years, Aiden and Knightley were the first people not in the family that Phelan ever met.

The two came across Phelan again, having gone to check on her after being concerned about how she behaved during that first interaction. This time finding her in the family home, sitting on the couch completely covered in blood. The bodies of her parents and older brother completely unrecognizable

Growing up, Meg was one of many children in the lower district who seemingly slipped through the cracks of the system. She was born to parents who were in no position to care for her, did not take their responsibility as her guardians seriously, and probably should never have had her to begin with.

Over the years, they came across the occasional good samaritan who was willing to help them out of the kindness of their heart, but those people were few and far between. More often than not, anything that they received had a cost attached to it. It wasn't always a price that they were comfortable paying, but beggars can't be choosers, and sometimes they simply didn't have a choice.

When she was in high school, she started dating a boy who was a couple of years older than her—a student at the university who was originally from out of town. He seemed to be fairly well-off, and although he didn't wield as much influence as the elites native to the upper district, his money still bought him a place among them. By comparison, Meg stood out like a sore thumb.

Being pretty and charming earned her the right to exist among them, but even when she moved out of the lower district and into his apartment (before she turned 18 years old no less), she never really felt like his friends were her friends. They didn't treat her like an equal, and if she had been able to be honest with herself back then, she would have seen that her boyfriend didn't either.

Not long after Meg's 18th birthday, their boyfriend ended up causing a scene at the upscale nightclub Elysium by running up a massive tab and then drunkenly wrecking things in a fit of rage when he couldn't pay it off. At that point, it was revealed that he wasn't nearly as wealthy as he had portrayed himself, and that he had been spending way above his means for years.

Instead of taking responsibility, he skipped town with a new girlfriend and left Meg with the debt, the property damage, and the unamused club owner. They hadn't done anything, but they had been there when it happened and that was enough to make it their responsibility in Hadrian's eyes.

Meg has been working at the club since then to pay off her debt, but has been unable to make a significant dent in it; partially because it was massive to begin with, but mostly because things keep getting added to it when she steps out of line. The Astors are a staple of the upper district and have been for several generations. In addition to acquiring generational wealth, they are the majority share holders of Bluebonnet Media and it's subdivisions, Bluebonnet Press and Bluebonnet Publishing. Sophie is their eldest daughter and heiress to the empire.

Growing up, she had an enormous amount of demands placed on her because of her position in the family, and it was made very clear to her that there would be consequences if she did not handle her responsibilities. It wasn't herself that she was worried about, but she really didn't want the pressure to be transferred to her little sister Rosie if she ever fell short of their expectations.

When it became apparent that Rosie had obsessive and occasionally violent tendencies, she begged their parents to take the problem seriously and get her real psychiatric help, to no avail. They didn't believe in therapy, and Sophie wasn't in a position to argue against their way of dealing with things. She didn't endorse them simply throwing money at the problem, but she also didn't want her little sister to get into any real legal trouble, so she stayed quiet about it.

She tried several times to explain the severity of Rosie's actions to her, but without having to experience any concrete consequences, her lectures fell on deaf ears. And in the end, she could never bring herself to turn against her sister completely. She was always willing to give her the benefit of the doubt because she, more than anyone else, understood how they had been raised.

Sophie's first and only misstep as the family's golden child came when she was fresh out of high school and made the rather impulsive decision to marry her high school sweetheart. It wasn't the match itself that her parents' disapproved—Ruben came from a good family in the upper district—but rather the fact that they rushed into it. She had her reasons, and she wasn't about to tell them that one of her reasons was wanting to get the fuck out of their house.

Ultimately, their marriage didn't even make it past the two year mark. They were both young, they hadn't really thought it through at all, and although Sophie still cared a lot about him, it was clear that they simply weren't ready for that commitment. She holds no ill will toward him for how things went.

Since then, she has mainly focused on her career in an effort to make up for that lapse in judgement. She didn't want more responsibility, but she didn't feel like she could turn it down after the stunt that she pulled. She feels woefully under-qualified to run the publishing division of their family's media empire and yet that is exactly what she has found herself doing for the past years.

At the same time, Rosie's behaviour has only gotten worse and worse to the point that Sophie has all but cut off contact with her sister. It might be too little too late, but she is worried that her complacency over the years has only enabled Rosie, and that the only thing she can do to help is to not help at all.

She does her best to put a positive spin on things, being almost unnaturally perky and upbeat whenever she's around other people, all while being one bad day away from wanting to fling herself from the top of their corporate HQ.
