neverparted
She had a point. Even going back to the house would be difficult; the roads would be muddy and the carriage wheels could get stuck in deep ruts. His concern over his sister seemed to have vanished. Could he be selfish for a few more hours and forget what waited for them back at Allerdale?
Perhaps.
"And what exceptions are there to the second item?“
He already sounded sleepy, having moved closer to her so that he could snuggle up against her smaller form. But he was still looking at her, as if memorizing every inch of her face. Then again, he’d looked at her like that ever since they first met. Except this time…THIS time it was genuine.
She never knew that, of course. She wouldn’t have come if she knew what was waiting for her. Whatever resolve he had was slowly shattering, and each drop that fell from the sky served as a barrier between him and his sister. Thomas’s face was close to her chest now, his breath hitting her skin.
One hand reached up to touch his face, fingertips grazing his cheekbones with gentle reverence before brushing through his hair. For the first time since they’d come to England, Edith felt relaxed, a strong part of her not wishing to return at all... the house itself had such a heaviness about it that she felt as if she’d suffocate if she spent too long within its walls. It didn’t want her there anymore than she wanted to be there.
If only she could get Thomas to go somewhere with her. Somewhere far away.
“Well... it all depends on who it is, and if it’s more amusing to keep things to myself or not. Reactions mostly dictate. If they will be fun, I’ll make an exception.”
The way his eyes studied her brought a fond look to her face, a light blush to her cheeks accompanying it as she wondered what was going through his mind in that moment. She’d always loved his eyes, finding in them curiosity which she didn’t know she could find in another. He looked at her like she’d always wanted, and left her longing to know why so much that she finally voiced it:
“You stare at me as if I’ll vanish. What are you thinking of?”

FILL OUT THE STATS:
Edith Cushing
repost, don’t reblog.
BASICS
FULL NAME: Edith Cushing-Sharpe
NICKNAME:  Edie
AGE:  24
BIRTHDAY:  October 9th, 1877
NATIONALITY:  American
PLACE OF BIRTH: Buffalo, NY
CURRENT LOCATION: Allerdale Hall
PRONOUNS:  she/her
ORIENTATION: heterosexual
R-ORIENTATION:  heteroromantic
OCCUPATION:  Authoress
RELIGION:  Agnostic
LANGUAGES:  English primarily, she speaks a little french though
VOICE: soft and relatively high. Not obnoxiously so however. More or less Mia Wasikowska’s voice I find to be a soft, soothing thing, and therefore Edith’s is of that vein of thought.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
EYE COLOUR:   Warm honey
HAIR COLOR:  blonde
HEIGHT:  5′4″
BODY BUILD:  hourglass, not strong however, Edith doesn’t do much bodily
NOTABLE FEATURES: Nothing particularly impressionable
PHOBIAS & DISEASES, FEARS:  Given Edith’s loss of family in general she has a great fear of being alone in her life. However, as she’s very much an introvert, she only keeps those she can connect with on a deeper level around and works for those relationships on a more serious note.
PERSONALITY
GENERAL IMPRESSION:  Edith comes across quite quiet at first, her opinions rather reserved to her own mind, though if one can get her to open up (even if only a little) they’ll find someone with a complex thought process. Given her upbringing, she might be considered arrogant, or proud, though it is more a sense of self confidence she has within herself. Surprisingly she’s got a lot of questioning and self doubt, but she does her best to keep that contained and instead pours herself into what she can know for sure. So she comes across as distant in many ways.
MORAL ALIGNMENT: lawful neutral
MISC
LIKES:   Being alone, inkwells and pens, paper, books, cinnamon, shortbread cookies, butter, the smell of a pupy's breath, chestnuts, silk, purses, boots, travelling by train, reading, writing, her father's hands, his voice, steamboats, hot baths, apples, mulled wine, staying up late, a lit fireplace, cool, tight, fresh linen bedclothes, feather pillows.
DISLIKES: Being alone, long finernails, dirty fingernails, cruelty, rainy days, mayonnaise, math, her legs going to sleep (Happens often), girls her age, tight corsets, the sound of a flute, yelling, loud noises, pepper, onion, clove and christmas cake, christmas in general, gifts. .

Edith stared still completely confused as to where she was, but taking in what was said nonetheless, her brows furrowed as a flash of offense appeared in her eyes--mingled, of course, with the fear of the unknown. “Perhaps so... but I suppose youth sometimes causes one to be less wise than they should.” she replied. “But I don’t think kindness had anything to do with it, ma’am.”

choose between: marrying Thomas and experiencing the horrors of Allerdale or watching Eunice marry Thomas and remaining safe in Buffalo
Make me choose :: Answered
Tumblr media
“Thomas.” Edith replied simply, surely, hardly a moment of contemplation given for it was something she would have answered the same every time. “I won’t deny the horrors, the pain which comes with knowing that I was originally nothing more than a means to an end– but things changed. And Eunice… though we don’t get along I know she would never have survived any more than the other wives had.”
Besides that, she would not have passed up Thomas for anything. Despite it all.

Why persia had anything to do with it, Enola didn’t know, for the man whom was spoken of sounded very much like someone she’d met. So, with a raised brow, and curiosity deeply seated in her eyes, she shook her head. “I have not. But the man whom you’ve described matches a similar one which I have met. How do you know he’s not the same?”

ᴛᴀɴɢʟᴇᴅ sᴇɴᴛᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴍᴇᴍᴇ       sᴇɴᴅ ᴏɴᴇ ( ᴏʀ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ) ᴛᴏ ᴍʏ ᴍᴜsᴇ!
❝ This is the story of how I died. ❞
❝ That’s when people usually start to look for a miracle. ❞
❝ And for that one moment, everything was perfect. ❞
❝ Why can’t I go outside? ❞
❝ The outside world is a dangerous place filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here where you’re safe. ❞
❝ All the things we’ve seen and its only eight in the morning. ❞
❝ Stop taking everything so seriously. ❞
❝ Stop with the mumbling, you know how I feel about the mumbling. ❞
❝ I distinctly remember your birthday was last year. ❞
❝ That’s the funny thing about birthdays, they’re kind of an annual thing. ❞
❝ I can’t believe that after all we’ve been through together, you don’t trust me. ❞
❝ Okay, okay, okay…I’ve got a person in my closet. ❞
❝ I do hate leaving you after an argument, especially when I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. ❞
❝ You are not leaving this tower! Ever! ❞
❝ Ugh, great. Now I’m the bad guy. ❞
❝ I’ll be back in three days time. I love you very much, dear. ❞
❝ I know why you’re here and I’m not afraid of you. ❞
❝ The only thing I want to do with your hair is to get out of it. ❞
❝ Who are you, and how did you find me? ❞
❝ I know not who you are nor how I came to find you, but may I just say…hi. How ya doin’? ❞
❝ I was being chased, I saw a tower, I climbed it. End of story. ❞
❝ I have made the decision to trust you. ❞
❝ Tomorrow evening they will light the night sky with these lanterns. ❞
❝ When I promise something, I never ever break that promise. ❞
❝ I didn’t want to have to do this but you leave me no choice. ❞
❝ Well that’s okay, what she doesn’t know won’t kill her. ❞
❝ I’m a despicable human being. ❞
❝ You know I can’t help but notice you seem a little at war with yourself here. ❞
❝ This is part of growing up. ❞
❝ Stay calm. It can probably smell fear. ❞
❝ Haven’t any of you ever had a dream? ❞
❝ Go. Live your dream. ❞
❝ Someone get me a glass, ‘cause I just found me a tall drink of water. ❞
❝ Let’s just assume for the moment that everyone in here doesn’t like me. ❞
❝ I have got to get me one of these. ❞
❝ I was going to offer you something worth one thousand crowns, would have made you rich beyond belief. ❞
❝ A gift like that, well, it has to be protected. ❞
❝ You can’t tell anyone about this, okay? It could ruin my reputation. ❞
❝ Well a fake reputation is all a man has. ❞
❝ Why would he/she like you, come on now really. ❞
❝ Look at you! Do you think that he/she’s impressed? ❞
❝ I just listened to the sound of complete and utter betrayal and followed that. ❞
❝ All good things to those who wait. ❞
❝ Well I hope you came to apologize. ❞
❝ I need you not to get him arrested. ❞
❝ What if its not everything I dreamed it would be? ❞
❝ And what if it is? What do I do then? ❞
❝ You get to go find a new dream. ❞
❝ I’m not scared anymore. ❞
❝ We want him/her instead. ❞
❝ The world is dark and selfish and cruel. If it finds even the slightest ray of sunshine, it destroys it. ❞
❝ I’m the lost princess. ❞
❝ I’ve spent my entire life hiding from people who would use me for my power. ❞
❝ But I should have been hiding from you. ❞
❝ Where will you go? He/She won’t be there for you. ❞
❝ That criminal is to be hanged for his crimes. ❞
❝ You want me to be the bad guy? Fine. Now I’m the bad guy. ❞
❝ Let’s see how fast you can run. ❞
❝ We’re going where no one will ever find you again. ❞
❝Our secret will die with him. ❞
❝ I will never stop trying to get away from you. ❞
❝ I can’t let you die. ❞
❝ But if you do this, then you will die. ❞
❝ You were my new dream. ❞
❝ Did I ever tell you I got a thing for brunettes? ❞
❝ After years and years of asking, and asking, and asking, I finally said yes. ❞
