My Not Comming Out Story
Imagine being quite open about your interests growing up that you assume your parents already know you are gay but 23 years later the whole family is gathered, celebrating and you guess your mom overhears a comment you might have made about a guy that you find attractive cause next thing you know is that she has a breakdown, on Christmas eve!Â
Well, how about I use my memory instead of my imagination cause thatâs exactly what happened to me.
I remember my stepdad, Miguel being exactly like:
What are you doing Janeth? *Mom cries dramatically on the floor* We assumed this a long time ago!Â
Well, at least thatâs reassuring, I thought
*Miguel looks at me* Alonso, I love you no matter what and you know you will always have our support! *Mom keeps wailing, like literally wailing, saying stuff like âWhy?â âWhat did I do wrong?â, while looking to the ceiling waiting for some sort of divine answer*
No Mom, Christ isnât on your side on this. In fact, I donât think he would appreciate your behavior right now, God and I are cool, we talked this through in primary school when I fancied not only girls but also boys at the time. He loves my open bisexual, probably more gay now, self just like I do.
God bless Miguel's heart for also being calm and collected because my mom, on the other hand, kept crying pretty much throughout the whole evening every time she as much laid eyes on me and also, got fantastically drunk!Â
The realization of her too âgolden childâ being something other than what she thought was right hit her hard I suppose and I ended up being officially out to my family after that.
Some people might think âBest Christmas present ever!â but in reality, you had me there thinking âAnd here I thought I would never have to do such thing as to come out, as if being something other than straight should be something that has to remain hidden for a certain period of time!â.
If someone looked at my face and saw how my amusement masked my indignation, I do not know. But I remember how âchillâ I was, in control, trying to explain something that I really shouldn't to the one family member I most deeply love.
Ultimately, I felt like they put my metaphorical cat into a box just to say it was out now.
I should make this into a clip đ
Saludos, A.
PS: I haven't heard Mom recalling the events of that night, does she have a name for it like ''Terror en Navidad'' like yours? I don't know. What I do I know is that I try to remind her about my sexual orientation every now and then so she doesn't forget about it and we don't have to face another situation like that when we get together for a visit someday.

This was intended to be on the comment section of the following video, which I found very relatable at some point, but I got carried away and I think the comment ended up being too long for YouTube, so I posted it here, on Tumblr.

âSometimes I write things so explicit that I feel like I need to go to church but then I remember that according to them my gay ass is going to hell anyway, so the least I can do is try to make the devil proud by writing againâ

Busting a myth: Not all mammals are warm-blooded
Mammals are animals that are (mostly) covered in hair and that nurse their young with milk. They include duck-billed platypuses, mice, elephants and human beings.
It is true that all mammals can produce heat from within, a talent known as endothermy. This means that most mammalian species do indeed have warm blood. They maintain a high and fairly constant body temperature, which allows them to function efficiently across a range of conditions.
This is why entry-level textbooks often refer to mammals as being âwarm-bloodedâ. This distinguishes them from âcold-bloodedâ, ectothermic creatures whose body temperature is wholly dependent on their surroundings.
The thing is, in biology rules are made to be, at the very least, severely bent.
There are plenty of mammals that take a much more relaxed approach to body temperature. For these âheterothermicâ animals, the term âwarm-bloodedâ does not really capture what they are doing.
They are certainly not âcold-bloodedâ in the same way as fish, amphibians and reptiles are âcold-bloodedâ. But they are capable of some impressive feats of cooling.
âThe more we look, the more species we find that do that,â says Justin Boyles, a physiological ecologist at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
One of the most extreme heterotherms is the Arctic ground squirrel.
