A hanging fire is a great way to keep warm without leaving any traces of a campfire.
Being higher off of the ground means it can be more effective at keeping your core warm, as opposed to just your legs. However, being higher up, it does radiate light further, making the set up more visible at night. A further benefit is that you always have a flat, dry surface to get your fire going on.  As the ground is not damaged or scorched, this set up complies with leave no trace policies.

The term "EDC" comes from military parlance and stands for "every day carry". That is, items that you carry with you on a daily basis. These items can be functional in nature, or can be survival items, to be used in an emergency. What you carry is entirely up to you and should be catered to your specific needs.
Aside from the usual keys, mobile phone, watch, wallet, cash, e.t.c. other commonly "edc'd" items include:
1) Flashlight - LED driven, reliable and bright. Power cuts, finding keyholes, looking under things. You may need an inspection light as part of your work. 2) Multitool - Varriety of uses. A cyclist may want a bike tool or a computer engineer may use a mini set of drivers. Great for general, running repairs. 3) Knife - Probably the most useful and versatile of all tools. 4) Lighter - Instant fire, light and heat. 5) Ferrocerium rod - Failsafe fire ignition. 6) Handkerchief/Bandana - Mop up spills, filter water, protect wounds. 7) Pen - Take notes, leave messages. 8) Lip Balm - Use as fuel for fire starting, make it into a candle, protect small cuts and of course... keep your lips from cracking. 9) Whistle - Attract help or get someone's attention. 10) Compass - Know which way you are heading day or night, regardless of weather. 11) Capsule - Used to store anything from medication to tinder, sd cards, matches, cash, fish hooks e.t.c. 12) Zero light marker - Powered by glow in the dark or tritium technology. Allows you to find you edc in the dark.
These items are by far the most commonly carried EDC type items, particularly within the enthusiast community. You may find one, none or some of these items useful, depending on what you do on a daily basis. You can never prepare for every eventuality, so prepare for the most likely, would be our advice.
Thanks for reading.

C.A.P.E. Mini Glow Lamp
Waterproof and reliable mini glow lamp. Each Glow Lamp houses a single, high quality, mini 4 hour light stick. To activate the light stick, take it out of the lamp by removing the supplied stainless steel split ring, then bend the light stick in the middle until you hear a snap. Shake the light stick then replace it into the lamp. The light sticks are very bright for approximately 4 hours and then will gradually dim over the next 10 hours. The lamp is made from durable opaque ABS plastic so allows the light to be seen at all angles. Perfect for marking gear, location or as a small, emergency light source. Each Lamp is supplied with 3, indivudaly wraped, premium mini light sticks and a stainless steel split ring. Designed and manufactured in the UK.

MecArmy Copper X-3 .
Kindly sent to me by the good folks @alphabushcraft to play with the worlds smallest USB rechargeable LED flashlight .
At only 43mm long (shown here next to a CR123 for size comparison) with a 20.7gram weight  so great for keyring or neck carry it puts out 130 ANSI lumens on high or 5 lumens on low with a 6 hour runtime .
It charges via a micro USB from laptop, solar power bank etc and takes 1 hour to charge (there’s a handy feature of a glowing LED that changes color as soon as its charged ).
The 10180 battery is also removable and can be charged from another source so easy to carry a charged spare .
I’m not used to twist operated flashlights as generally prefer clicky cap control or push button but the size of it and the usb charging ability and the fact its copper all really appeal .
