I'm weirdly happy that the only human character we see Monica on screen with in the trailer for the Secrets of the Silent Witch anime is Lana. And the fact that this is the scene that was assigned to the line of Monica lamenting the fact that she froze instead of thanking people for helping her really shows me that the animators Understand the Assignment.

Lana and Monica have the best example of an Extrovert/Introvert friendship that I have ever seen, and Lana's place in Monica's life is given great weight. Lana is the one who most inspires Monica to take steps to overcome her trauma without being too forceful about it the way Nero and Louis can sometimes be. She takes Monica's limits into consideration and does her best to accomidate them, while also motivating her to do things she never would have done before.

Monica is extremely quiet and has a tendency to overthink, and especially to catastrophize. Lana, on the other hand, is opinionated and sometimes a little too forceful, but comes across as very self-assured despite being looked down on by others at the school. There are points in the story where she can sometimes come to regret things she said or how she acted after the fact, and there are moments where she worries about being too much and overwhelming people just like Monica is terrified of disappointing others by failing to live up to their expectations. Monica and Lana end up having excellent chemistry and strike a fantastic balance as characters, helping one another and enjoying each other's company in a way that always really jumped from the pages in the novels and always feels believable and natural, and I really can't wait to see what the anime does with this relationship.

Secrets of the Silent Witch is coming in July! One of my fav LNs!! For those unaware, the series is structurally quite a lot like the early Harry Potter novels, and also full of friendship and action. OH MAN, I can hardly wait!

Still making my way down the top 10 as their episodes end ✍️ Here’s Lucky Cyan's edition! The episodes felt a bit quickly paced but I really enjoyed her story and the origins of how she got her powers.

Really fascinated by how Nu Wang/Queen DOES seem to be working for someone for some purpose that is still yet unknown to us (what with the boss of the hero corp she's working for giving major suspicious vibes and her dad being the journalist who saved Cyan). But it also seems that Nu Wang herself really seems to be self-motivated to work to being Number 1 for her own ideals - but her family, her corporation, and the media is pushing her to be an icon of sorts. A feminist icon, a representative for the company, a symbol of world order or the like.

Israel bombed the last main fibre route in Gaza, which means that as of June 12, all internet and fixed-line communication services are now completely cut off, further isolating Gaza amidst an ongoing genocide.

now that we have some sort of idea of what "Fear" might be, it doesn't seem to be fear in that sense but maybe in my opinion it's a consuming emotion.

See Luo, for example, was feared for his bad luck and even rumors about it spread to other orphanages but we never saw it mutate to anything other than misfortune to him (which might be a side effect of the trust system as it is established to be "what other believe of you and what you're capable of" or "wish for you" in LC's case)

it's only after the dean tell him about his parents' death does it show signs of mutation (for lack of a better term) and it is canonically the first appearance of "Fear" in an uncontrolled form. it might be the first in a wide scale, mind you, we are not sure when was the very first occurrence of "Fear".

We can see that Luo started resenting Cyan for what happened and believed the fact that his misfortune was tied to her luck. so he was clearly consumed by either hatred or grief and only after their misunderstanding was cleared, "Fear" disappeared.

(i'm not sure how it zombified the orphanage staff and children but there was a clear resentment towards Cyan in specific so Luo's resentment might've amplified everyone else's and led them to lose sanity esp in the dean's case going full "fear" corruption)
