TAD is on this list at #6.
“The Amazing Devil are a truly bewitching band and there's no question that their next release, whenever it comes, will continue on in their tradition of dynamic and theatrical folk.”
#the amazing devil#news#reviews#it’s satisfying seeing them sharing a listicle with big names like hozier and Noah kahan#also: this writer wrote an article praising TAD a few months ago#one of us

Joey’s debut novel, It’s Not a Cult, will be published this September!
It’s Not a Cult is a darkly comic folk horror that follows Callum, Melusine and Al: members of a band with no name, playing in bad pubs across the North East and occasionally reaching the dizzy heights of 97 viewers on their livestreams," the synopsis says. "To say they are losers would be to imply they were in the race in the first place. But they believe in their music, and in each other."
It adds: "Their songs tell the stories of the Solkats: fictional northern gods of small things, mishap and mayhem. However, when an act of violence at a pub gig goes viral, they catch the eye of a disillusioned influencer and suddenly gain an all-too-literal cult following."

Hi tumblr TAD-poles!
I'm the moderator over on the TAD subreddit and putting together a little event for the 5 year anniversary of The Horror and the Wild which is at the end of next month. We've just reached 2.4k dear hearts on our humble little subreddit and wanted to invite over anyone who'd like to join for the "celebration". We'll all share a "Happy birth day" cake lol.

5 Years of Wild Horror February
February 29th, 2020 The Amazing Devil released their second album The Horror and the Wild.
Five years later, it still draws in new and old fans who savor the haunting melodies, powerful instrumentation, poetic lyrics, and scream along to the passionate voices.
To celebrate the upcoming anniversary with fellow fans, I'd like to propose a series of weekly events leading up to February 29th (sort of... we'll sacrifice March 1st in glorious celebration) to bring this community together and engage with some art, discussions, and enjoyment.
A new post flair has been added for this event.
February 1st-7th: Battle (Cries) of the Best Song
You've seen it on other subreddits. A daily elimination post of the least favorite song (gosh, is there such a thing?), leading up to one victorious winner (the first two days will take the highest two choices, 9 songs, 7 days).
February 8th-14th: Dear Heart Valentines
Have you seen the tumblr meme Valentines? Create your own Amazing Devil related valentines and comment on the pinned thread during this week! A couple examples in the images.
February 15th-21st: Lyrical Love
The Amazing Devil is amazing because there is so much stuff packed into each song, lines you didn't understand until the fifteenth listen, jokes that made you laugh out loud, lyrics that made you cry. Comment your favorites on the pinned comment thread during this week.
February 22nd-28th: Fan Art Festival
I love seeing the fan art posted on this subreddit, drawings, paintings, tattoos, embroidery, shirts, etc etc. You are all so creative. This week post your TAD related artwork, old or new, so we can all enjoy and appreciate your skill and creativity!
March 1st(February 29th): Happy Birthday, THATW!
Today, share what you'd like to celebrate the 5th anniversary, that could be your favorite band picture, more art, an album birthday card, a post about your experience with the album, a thank you, whatever. Let's enjoy together!
Also if you have suggestions on other subreddit activities or events you'd like to see, let me know! I've been happy to let you all do your thing on here, but also willing to take suggestions. Not much going on since there's not much new stuff from Madeleine and Joey these days! Hopefully soon!
Much love to all the dear hearts and happy birthday, THATW!

A ScreenRant write-up on The Amazing Devil
“The Amazing Devil burst onto the folk-rock scene with a sound that is a little baroque, a little burlesque, and exploding with artistic fury. Since then, their releases have only become more polished … packed full of dense, artful lyrics, as well as instrumentation that ranges from simple acoustic guitar to a full coven of folk instruments.”

And I scream, "What’s the time Mr Wolf?" But you, you're blind, you bleat, you bare your claws And you rip my ribcage open And devour what's truly yours And our screaming joins in unison I cry out to the lord 'Cause if we join our hands in prayer enough To God I imagine it all starts to sound like applause That Unwanted Animal - The Amazing Devil

When that fox howls, I’ll howl with it. In its cries I’ll find an end.
I wasn’t really sure if I’d ever finish this, much less post it. This has been in and out of the works for at least a year, probably longer. But it’s the first thing I finished since I started having bad art block a few years ago and I’m so happy with how it turned out. 🖤
