Final Project - Assignment 4.
The suitcase contains:
1x Photography portfolio book
1x Pack of business cards
6x Printed coasters
These photos show all the elements of my final piece, I decided to use a suitcase as the box for my Items as I personally believe this digital photography unit has taken me on a journey. Whilst studying this unit I’ve learnt so much, I didn't know about photography, both production and post-production. This unit gave me chance to learn and understand Adobe, Photoshop, Lightroom and InDesign, which all proved vital for the nature of this work. I also decided to decorate one side of the case with stamped tape to follow the journey theme.
The photography book was designed and printed through Snapfish. The online company allowed me to create the book exactly how I envisioned, allowing me to position the photos in the order I wanted as well as pick the font for the title and overall design.
The business cards were printed through Moo, a card design company that provides the highest quality business cards I could find. One side of the card features one of my favourite images, Southsea beach. The other side features on the top my logo design and at the bottom my contact details.
The six coasters were designed and printed by Truprint, I was very pleased with the quality of these as I wasn’t sure what to expect, however I was impressed with how they turned out, I decided to choose my favourite six photos of Southsea to showcase how beautiful, the seaside is in Portsmouth as it was by far my favourite place to photography.

Theme 3 - People.
Assignment 4.
The third theme I chose for assignment four was people as I hoped to capture people in their own setting hoping to capture a piece of their personality. My main inspiration for this theme was Julian Calverley, born in Hertfordshire. An acclaimed people, landscape and lifestyle photographer known for his cinematic style. He is by fair one of my favorite photographers and so I found him a great inspiration for both my people and landscape themes. I used a mix of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to try and create photos similar to his style, however personally like to increase the clarity to add a sharper look to my photos rather than Julian’s soft approach. I also like to include vibrancy and colour into my photos in contrast to Julian’s dark use of grey and blue tones in his photos, Overall I found his work very helpful.

When walking to the beach I passed the statue a number of times but never thought of photographing it. Although as the sun was setting at the time I decided to take advantage of the setting. I like that the photo has some flaws, there is a seagull sat on top of the statue and a man standing to the far left as the hovercraft was about to leave. I edited the photo in Adobe Photoshop which allowed me to darken the photo creating more contrast between the brightness of the sky and the darkness of the statue.

This picture was taken in my car as I was about to leave the beach, I wasn’t sure on the depth of colour in this photo. However after editing it in Adobe Photoshop I was able to increase the reds and oranges to enhance the sunset. by also adjusting the contrast and vibrancy. Made the image look like how I envisioned.

Assignment 3- Food Magazine
“Salad Days”
Here are my final 5 photos for the assignment 3 project. I aimed to cook a range of healthy meals to photography, along with the recipes and method explaining how to recreate each dish. This proved very time consuming due to the prep and cooking times of each dish, however I found this task very rewarding as I love cooking. The main aim was to capture the vibrancy and deep colour in each photo. One of the main challenges I faced was lighting, as each photo was taken at different times of the day. Despite me providing extra artificial lighting in the dark photos, some still appear slightly darker than others. I used Adobe Lightroom to edit all of the photos increasing the contrast and clarity to show the vibrancy as well as adjusting the colour tools to enhance the natural colours. Then I used Adobe InDesign to design and create the PDF. Which I found every helpful in creating the magazine exactly how I had envisioned it. On the back of the Magazine I feature the information for both business’s “Amber Coralie Photography” and “Salad Days Tv” both of which I manage. Featuring both their logos, along with all the links to their websites and contact details.

Assignment  3 - Food Magazine
For assignment three I took inspiration from the BBC Good food magazine, as I often read it myself. When deciding on what to do for this assignment, whilst continuing work from another unit I study (Form and Function). I thought it would be a great idea to fuse my photography work with the TV channel brand I created called “Salad Days”. I love cooking so this was the perfect task for me! so I decided to make a magazine to showcase my work from both units.

I decided to walk to the beach as it was a beautiful day and when i arrived I could see my friend in the distance, so I took a couple of photos before I went over to talk. I liked that the whole picture is so simplistic, yet leaves some ambiguity towards the peoples relationship. This one was my favourites as it was the most centered and I managed to focus on the seagulls. I edited the photo in Photoshop and changed the colour to Black and white to give it a more nostalgic feel. Increasing the clarity to show more detail in the sea and rocks.

Theme 2 - The Seaside.
Assignment 4.
British photographer Phillip Joyce is my main inspiration for my Seaside theme, however he has photographed a number of different subjects in a range of styles. Including The Zoo, The British Seaside and Body Art. I particularly liked how he captured a range of different types of people you would typically find at the seaside, as well as the beautiful British seascapes. The first image is of Phillip Joyce, followed by the ones situated on the left of his works and the ones on the right are my interpretations. The images that feature the silhouettes of the subjects I like as they give a mysterious feel as their identity isn't revealed. I think that my version of the last one captures the detail in the structure much like Joyce’s image however I would have liked to have captured as much depth as him.

Location- Windsor Castle, Berkshire.
This was taken on a trip back home for the weekend. I decided to take advantage of Windsor Castle as It is a beautiful landmark, conveniently placed near my home. I edited the photo on Photoshop, changing it to black and white in order to capture the historic nature of the building. By changing the colour balance and contrast there is a distinction between the whites, greys and blacks.

Theme 1 - Landscapes.
 Assignment 4.
Peter Watson is my main influence for my Landscape theme for Assignment 4. He is an influential British landscape photographer, who inspired my use of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance the colour and brightness within my landscape photographs. I was inspired by his exaggeration of colour within his style of photography, in particular the skies in his landscapes. I found his book “Light in the Landscape” very insightful, as it explained how to use lighting effects to enhance your skills as a landscape photography. Above the first picture is of Peter Watson and the ones bellow on the Left show his work and the right shows my attempts at mirroring his style of work.

Taken- March 14th 2016. Location- Southsea, Hampshire. I took this photo on walk to the beach, however this side was closer to the old pier. A side I don't normally go to, where I was greeted by a starfish graveyard. I didn't realise at the time but after doing some research, a number of articles had been written about a sudden invasion of starfish washing up on the beach. I used Photoshop to edit the photo to enhance the colours and by also increasing the clarity made each of the starfish appear more detailed.

Here is a picture of the completed logo i decided to use, it was created on a logo design website. Which allowed me to add clip art, text and symbols to create your own personal logo. I decided on this simple design that incorporated a camera and my name in just black and white, to make the logo easy to comprehend when using it for adverting purposes.  .

Location- Windsor Castle, Berkshire. Taken- 31st January 2016. This is a picture of a section of Windsor Castle and the road leading to the entrance. I decided to photography this as Windsor is a town very close to my heart as I spent my childhood visiting. I decided to make the image black and white using Lightroom, as it gave it a more historical feel and I purposely made sure there were no vehicles in the shot to adhere to this. By exaggerating the highlight and clarity I was able to create more depth into the image. In sync with the post-crop vignetting, gave the image a more timely appearance.
