thereâs a small nod, one of understanding â she figured as much. âyes? then where have you been this past week?â she teased, though there was truth to her jest. walking further into the building she makes her way towards the bar. âit is.â she looks towards the woman, smiling. ânot many people guess.â usually she had to tell them, so this made a change. âassuming youâve been?â which she already knew was a correct assumption, unless amelia just happened to be a whiz when it came to accents.Â
âgoing to the wrong bar, apparently.â she lifted an amused brow, making no secret of the way her eyes suggested she was cryptically calling the woman hot. she wasnât blind, after all. âhonestly, i probably wouldnât have but i just spent four months there.â amelia smiled. âit was beautiful. not sure why i switched it out for this place.â she chuckled. naturally, she knew why, but she wasnât going to tell a stranger that. imagine, âoh yeah, so iâm just looking for more people like me, you know, a wolf who doesnât have to eat human hearts? yeah, cool stuff.â âwhatâre you drinking?âÂ

âThose are words I can live by.â And certainly did. âYou wonât expect any trouble from me, I handle my thoughts and feelings just fine.â Sure he had the demeanor of being the nice guy, caring for others, but he could give others the blunt truth of what he thought, he had a harshness when it was called for. âOh Iâve found them, colleagues of mine disagree and it gets ugly.â Although he didnât go into depth of why. âNathan.â Heâd keep open the bar door for her. âIâll hold you to it.â
âWow, a well-controlled man, how rare.â She teased. She supposed it was also a personal joke, considering she too was rare for her own reasons. âCanât please everyone. Sometimes you just have to be the bigger person and bow out, even if you know youâre in the right, obviously.â She chuckled, walking into the bar, she gestured to the stools as if to ask if it was ok to sit there. âIâm counting on it, Nathan. Whatâs your poison?âÂ

The idea of holding onto her manners would likely, in some ways, please her mother and also disappoint her. At some point Ellen had probably given up on the idea of Jo being a nice girl who lived a normal life, and also she wanted her daughter to take care of herself⌠but thereâs always that part of being a mom that wants your kids to behave themselves whether they want to or not.
âUnfortunately every time I try to strap them in I find out weâre all in a rocket ship with no seat belts and I just have to sort of grab something solid before my brains get bashed against a console.â Jo said, perhaps too graphically, before lifting her shoulders in a shrug, âIâm Jo, as much of a bitch as Iâve been itâs nice to meet you.â
âIâd have used fewer words to say something like that but, definitely.â She gave her agreement. âEye of the tiger, sweetie.â Meaning the song, which loosely translated as: just a man and his will to survive. She was being comical, whether or not the blonde would catch on to the cryptic humour.Â
âI can handle a bitch, Jo.â She did assure. It was a little ironic, but she wouldnât comment on that point, never one to tell a stranger her status. âAmelia, but you can call me Lia providing you tone the attitude down.â A smirk prickled her lips. âAt least, make it less harsh and a little more on the sassy side. Sass I can play with, blunt cold shoulder only gets me vexed.â She joked. Hey, never let it be said she didnât like sassy women, being one herself she knew how to get behind it.Â

Heliel was thoughtful for a moment, closing her eyes and allowing a look of something akin to peace pass her features, before she offered a slightly corner-tugged-higher smirk to pull her mouth into a different expression, âHeâll likely find another way to get his jaw broken. Itâs just what they do.â
Did she mean men in general, or humans in general? It was hard to tell, but the truth was that she was far more into humans than most of her brethren, and itâs likely why she didnât get along with the⌠ah, regime as it were, âYou can call me Hel.â Heliel offered, extending her hand out to shake Ameliaâs own, before tipping her head towards the bar, âBuy you a drink?â
âWell, if itâs not in my face itâs not my problem.â A nonchalant shrug, honestly she wouldnât have even stepped in if she hadnât walked into it. It kinda felt needed at that point, they were blocking the entrance to the bar, after all.Â
âJust Hel?â A curious question. âAlright, then you can call me Mel,â she was teasing - nobody called her âMelâ, so she followed it with a laugh and shake of her head. âItâs Amelia, or Lia. I supposed Mel works too.â Though as typical as it sounded nobody used it to address her, not since her parents died ( a decade ago. ) âSure, Iâll never turn down a freebie.âÂ

âyour boys?â she questions, curiosity wondering what she meant by that and the current small talk allowed her to do so. after all, could mean anything. children, brothers, friends. countless of possibilities. âyeah i was, actually.â when was she not going into a bar? this waiting around malarkey wasnât doing a lot to distract her from her sorrows. âthanks. iâm ada.â walking towards the building she opens the door for the woman to go through first.
âfamily.â she answered. it wasnât untrue, after all. her pack were her family, after all. she would die for any one of them, and vice versa. âwell then consider me your plus one. seems like a crime to have you sitting alone.â amelia smirked, shrugging her shoulders, she nodded her head in thanks as ada opened the door. âso ada, whatâs that accent, turkish?â not that she was by any means well versed, but she had only just came back from turkey after being there three months ( searching for one of her own kind. ) so she had picked up on those who spoke to her in english. âitâs lovely.âÂ

Her eyes looked the woman up and down. It wasnât hard to tell what she was which made her feel a lot safer strangely enough. âAmerica, good to know.â She hummed tunefully. âNever was a fan of churches. Iâm more a temple girl myself.â She smiled. âYou know, it has been quite some time since Iâve seen one of your breed and an alpha, no less.â Persephone pointed out, the breed meaning the type who didnât need hearts to survive.
âWhy donât you know where you are?â It seemed like a valid question. If the redheads' question didnât prompt her instant confusion, her attire most certainly did. âUh-huh, let me guess, youâre a lost Egyptian goddess from way back when?â She rolled her eyes, vague amusement on her face, still very wary and more so the second the woman addressed her species. âAnd you know what I am, how exactly?â

âGlad I can help with that, and sure, Iâll buy you a drink for your bravery.â That was not a problem, and heâd rather be the nicer guy over the other. âIt can only help to pretend, right?â In regards to not judging. âIn my personal opinion, a guy like I can deal with it and not judge. Iâve dealt with worse, and itâs those ones, the criminals who should be rotting in a cell that are brought in. I canât say the same for them.â
âOh, Iâm touched.â Curling a smirk onto her face, she shrugged her shoulders. Pretend? Sure, she could understand the need, though mostly she always did what she wanted and said what she thought, offending or not. âI wonât live my life by the need to protect other people from their own sensitivity.â Amelia decided to say, it was honest, it was a fair warning on the chance that he became someone she found to be irritating -- she would tell him as much. âI donât think youâll find anyone disagreeing with you on that one.â She nodded, gesturing towards the doors to the bar. âAmelia, not a Doctor, but I can be a damn good drinking partner.âÂ

âOh that hurt.â He joked before adding. âIâm not going to argue though.â He was, one of many, who would bounce back if he fell, shrug it off and walk away, although, Nate wouldnât have been so rude as the other male had been. âHad I been five minutes early, a lot could be different.â Good or bad. âMy professional opinion? If he ended up in the ER, Iâd have to treat him, like I do with every other patient, no judgement.âÂ
âProving my point then.â She lifted a brow, looking at him in amusement. âProbably better if you didnât.â She would win -- she was too stubborn not to. âCould buy me a drink instead though, eh?â Well, why not. âOh come on, Doc. You tellinâ me you donât silently judge at least a few people? Nobody is that nice.â

Within the blink of an eye, Persephone found herself stood basking in the light of the sun. Her eyes closed so she could truly appreciate the natural warmth. A long white dress flowed from her to the floor - trailing behind. At her feet lay a circle of bloomed flowers and a smile grew on her lips. She was free⌠for six months but there wasnât time to dwell on this fact. There never was. Her eyes finally opened, adjusting to the light and her surroundings. âExcuse me, I think I am lost. Where exactly am I?â
Her mouth fell open, swearing blind to herself that girl was not stood there two seconds ago. âOkay...â She she muttered, watching the growing flowers around her. Definitely weird. âWhat? Oh- Youâre in Kansas... You know, Lawrence, planet earth...â Amelia creased her brows. âGuess itâs a nice day for a white wedding, church is that way...â She was mocking, but only in good humour ( mostly to combat her confusion. )

âno,â she chuckled, a touch of amusement on her features. she hadnât heard that before. âdefinitely isnât.â she glanced into the distance, not being able to help spotting the drunk still storming away. he was probably muttering to himself, she thought. with a smile, she looks back to the female. âgood, gotta keep the men in order.â she always thought the surprise most had when a woman out matched a man, in her case it was often, was funny.
âsomebody has to. iâm glad my boys donât treat me that way, theyâd be getting their ass kicked.â she chuckled, as though it was a joke. reality? it wasnât. she was alpha, nobody stepped out of line without risking their ass, itâs just the way it had to be. âyou going in?â she nodded to the bar. âiâll buy. nameâs amelia.âÂ

Seeing the fight happening from her car while she drove past, she was quick to turn in to a car park and park up the car to get out and help but by the time she reached them, the guy was stumbling away from the girl helping him. âHe gets in this state a lot and just really hates when girls try and help him. Something about his mother. Iâve seen it a few times.â Being a local, she knew a lot of the town drunks.
âGreat. Mommy issues. Got it.â At least sheâd made a mental note of his face, next time around she wouldnât be so keen to aid him. Let him get his ass kicked, what did she care. âSo what are you saying, heâs the town fool or something?âÂ

âYep, but I didnât need a college degree to diagnose that jackass.â Referring to the other who had walked away, who clearly made a standing here tonight. âAnd I might have paid to see you do that.â Sometimes others got what they deserved. âBelieve me, if more people would listen to that adviceâŚ.â In regards to knowing how much they could handle. âBut I donât think thatâs going to change any day soon.â
âThe ego of a man is a delicate thing.â In a lot of cases, anyway. At least her male wolves knew how to respect a womans power. âOh well, in that case, I wish you would have came five minutes earlier.â Amelia joked, letting her arms fold in a relaxed state across her front. âMm,â he was right, of course. âIs that your professional opinion?âÂ

âoh yeah,â she chuckles with a small nod of her head, clearly agreeing. âguessing heâll be sulking for days.â she didnât think it made anyone less âmanlyâ if they accepted help from a woman, but she knew her generation were brought up that way and some couldnât get used to change. âyou got some muscles on you though, got to say.â she hadnât exactly ignored how her strength was visible.Â
âwell, itâs not my fault heâs a teddy bear trying to be an action man now, is it?â her lips curled upwards. she didnât know who this girl was, but her accent was cute ( along with her, obviously. ) âhardly.â amelia chuckled, considering it didnât actually look as though she had any muscles -- looks were deceiving. âthey were wasted, easy to push around.â she played it off, just in case. âor actually i think i prefer what you said. yes, i got muscles.â amelia teased.

Walked by just as the other walked away, he might have interfered had he been there sooner. âAnd if I didnât treat patients that yell at me, Iâd get fired.â Yet, it never made Nate any nicer to them than he would of someone who needed help. ââSucks, but what can you do?ââ Nate shrugged. ââTheir choice, you tried, and if they end up in the ER, it wonât surprise me.â
âDoctor?â She asked, assumed only by the use of the word patients. âWell, I could have knocked him back on his ass for being a caveman with the face like a baboons ass.â Amelia lifted an amused brow, she was joking ( mostly. ) âWell thatâs their own fault, huh? You know, donât drink if you canât handle it.â That was her opinion, anyway -- nobody liked a messy drunk with an attitude problem.Â

she would have offered to step in and help the other female if she didnât already looking like she had it, so she just watched. really only wondering what had caused the two males to go at each other throats. âmaybe.â she chuckled, staring at the guy who had shoved the woman before she looked at her. âprobably hurt his ego.â not that that was an excuse for being an obvious asshole.
âyes, well iâve had it up to here,â lifting a hand just above her head... âwith men and their ridiculously sensitive egos.â an amused roll of her eyes was paired with a sigh. âwhiny little bitches, just suck it up and accept the help, am i right?â amelia smirked, figuring the brunette would more than likey agree.Â
