OVER THE EDGE 𝘅 THE OUTSIDERS Matt Dillon's first role, Richie White, was a precursor to his most famous role as Dallas Winston in the movie The Outsiders. Released in 1979, Over the Edge was a movie about children who were made to be delinquents in their suburban neighborhood and their rebellion when the one place they could go to to be teenagers is taken away. Matt Dillon's character, Richie, is a known troublemaker who meets his end after raising his gun to the dogged crooked cop, Sgt. Doberman. In The Outsiders, he meets a similar fate as Dallas Winston, gunned down in front of his delinquent friends after raising an unloaded gun to the cops.
