Fandom has become so unfun nowadays. Just interacting with the media in general, honestly. I miss when I could watch someone make a negative review on something and hear actual reasons why it wasn't enjoyable (but still okay for other people to like it) rather than "This show is dealing with dark topics in a way I dislike."

I miss when it was actually ship whatever you want. I miss when people would ship whatever the heck they wanted regardless of canon. I miss when the most popular ship wasn't the canon ship. I miss when people could actually have fun.

Now it just feels like constantly having to avoid people because of the threat of actual harm because they weren't able to handle what they watched.

like honestly what is it with modern fandom and just hating shipping? shipping is PART of fandom. i see so many posts hating on shipping and how it somehow ruins the canon of the media it’s pulled from. (don’t even get me started on moral ship discourse)

personally i love shipping, it’s my favorite part of fandom. i think it’s really fun and interesting to fantasize about ships, to write about ships, to draw ships. i love it. please tell me i am not alone?😭 are there other sailors still in this vast sea we call fandom?

the dnp subreddit genuinely needs to change its name to r/antiphan because that’s what it actually is. if you’re going to make a dan and phil subreddit with the goal of avoiding phan, make it transparent, because the average phannie isn’t going to dan and phil subreddit specifically to ignore phan? that is a very small minority of the overall audience
