Kaya is so funny in Samurai Remnant, cause from her character design you'd expect something like the super sweet little sister that might be a bit clingy or be super innocent or just, kind of a generic younger sibling character.

Instead we got Kaya Ogasawara, a kid who thrives on giving Iori shit, about his lifestyle the shitty house he lives in that fact she has to remind his dumbass to eat. And when she meets Saber she's ecstatic because she gets the little sibling instinct that lets her know that an entire new avenue of annoying Iori has opened up to her.

Seriously, at one point she just visits Iori in the morning, sees Saber follow him out of the house, and without hesitation she goes, "WOW BRO YOU TWO BONING THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING? DON'T YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO?"

And she does it with a polite smile and a gentle voice but Iori fucking KNOWS Kaya is having the time of her fucking life right now.

"Miyamoto Iori, you were born in the wrong age" isn't a double reference to how Iori would have been the ultimate sword saint instead of a minor footnote in history had he been born into war, nor that he was a gentle soul who did not deserve to be made to walk the path of a warrior.

It's a reference to how if he was born 350 years later he'd be the star of his own Type Moon eroge VN instead of here where everyone assumes he gets some when he does not in fact, get any at all.

FFXIV Housing Builds

Talking to a pal feeling bummed about their housing decorating, and it's one I hear a lot, that they aren't "good at it" and compare themselves to the builders showing off their fancy and cozy and très chic builds and...

Look. We all know the trouble with Gpose, right? Where PC players with a hundred mods and ReShade and Anamnesis/Ktisis and maybe some post-processing work (and also photography/artist skills/knowledge) take some killer screenshots, and anyone with a console--or even other PC players--who don't have or know how (yet) to use all those tools, wail and gnash their teeth about how their (perfectly glamoured, nicely composed, decently lit, imaginative situations) screenshots just don't compare?

Same things with housing.

A lot of those super fancy builds? They're using half to a quarter of the available space. They're blocking off entire floors, and making camera angles for character screenshots nearly impossible by lowering the ceilings and closing in the walls. They're using a dozen slots to make a unique bed that may be functional.

It's aesthetics. It's playing puzzles. It's seeing what they can do, and it's pretty to look at, and cool to figure out, and neat for ideas...

But it's also not a requirement. It's not workable for every player or their FC. Some are! But some are also just experiments, or art installations.

I have a couple pals who are really into the fancy builds, who even do commissions for their work. We have a decorator lizard in our FC who needs the enrichment, but a requirement I have for the FC spaces are that they have to use the whole space. It has to be functional. It has to fit multiple members of the FC when they want to hang out, maybe take screenshots for storylines and RP and such. Can we fit a couple dozen people the rare times we host events?

Does that mean not a lot of random clutter, a lot of open space? Sure! But I can swing my camera around, fit multiple Roegadyn in a shot, and still have a nice looking, homey space that gets across the idea of what our FC is about. In my personal apartments and house, they're spaces that my characters would live in, and there's room for them and for friends to move around, hang out, take pics together.

Take inspiration from the housing builders! Admire their art and the work they put in, the puzzles they create when making a toaster oven out of six disparate housing items I'd never consider using that way holy cow!

But just like one shouldn't get hung up on the ultra-modded and post-processed screenshots, don't get hung up on the super fancy designer artisanal housing builds. It's a different aspect of the game, and often for different purposes.

Use the Preview Indoor/Outdoor Furnishings options in the housing menu to see what's available, use the websites that list housing items, fiddle around, mix and match, and make something fun that suits your screenshot needs and/or your character's idea of personal space. I promise you; you're doing just fine with your apartment/FC room/house if you're making it for you, even if it takes time to figure it out.

Short Bio:

As a ward of the forest, Naivah assists travelers or injured people that may be stranded. Helping the wailers stop poachers and other various tasks that the shroud locals have. When she isn't getting herself lost, or being distracted; she is reading up on the twelve or doing research. She has visible scars and wounds, she will either ignore anyone who asks about them or avoids the subject.

Where you may find her:

Anywhere in the shroud: She will avoid major cities, with the exception of Gridania. Spending most of her time within the shroud looking for locals that need help, especially if they need something from the deep shroud/sylphlands.

Coerthas: It appears that she avoids going within Ishgard, however, she will help out the locals in the cold coerthas regions.

Mor Dhona: It is common for her to help Derek and do her own traveling and research about the Twelve.

Where you may have seen her:

Adventure guild in any city: Where she looks for jobs or quests in her downtime. The only time she spends more time is to eat or have a drink.

Kugane: Some research has brought her to the city from time to time. She will stay if her research keeps her in the city or region late.

Ishgard: very rarely she will step foot in the city. When she does it is to stay at the inn, she keeps her stays restricted to the Forgotten Knight and she tries not to stay for long periods of time.

A fresh burn covers the top of her right hand and reaches her elbow, sometimes she has it wrapped.

A worn sealed letter, with many creases, shows it's been with her for a while, though she has never delivered it to its intended party, nor re-opened it.

A tattered piece of fabric, torn, ripped covered in stains yet she keeps it neatly folded in her bag and sometimes used to wrap the Aether Compass in.

An over-stuffed satchel - she lugs her bag around full of things she may need on her travels. Her precious items she keeps stored separately in their own smaller bag that almost never leaves her side. She may even sleep with it.

Forest Ward - As well as she knows the Shroud and as much as she lingers around areas where travelers or merchants can get lost (or ambushed) Naivah always keeps an eye out to help anyone that may need it. She will check the adventure guild for any postings of those needing a guide through the shroud to any other region.

Healing services - Whether it may be an emergency or something on the quest board, Naivah will offer her healing services whenever they may be needed. She has skill in both healing magicks and more traditional methods. She is always excited to use her healing salve.

Explorer - Her research tends to take her out of the city-states and far out into the world. Despite her past, she still enjoys exploring, no matter how dangerous a place may look. In fact, that may just encourage her to want to take a look more.

"I'm so sorry to bother you.. but I am lost.." rubbing her hand over her arm she lets out an awkward chuckle - a side effect of her visible injuries (mainly the one on her neck) is that her short-term memory is almost non-existent. Really I just want to write silly stories and get up to shenanigans. Can be serious and story-driven with character development, or it can be casual with no expectations. I do not do ERP. Anything romantic that may go further I prefer to fade to black. I will say I do have Naivah loyal to a pairing, so any romantic situations will be incredibly slow-burn since Naivah is still very committed to that particular pairing.
