MIUI CM7 Overhaul (How To)
OK to start this whole blog concept off, (witch is to help people set their phones up to look exactly like the screenshots posted below) I'm gonna start off with a more simple approach and do the MIUI CM7 Overhaul - witch means it's as close (so far) as we can get to MIUI on a CM7 based rom. I'm gonna break this down into multiple sections to help navigate threw this LONG post so bare with me please.
SCREENSHOTS
First off, I'll write out what all you'll need to download to make this work.
***And before you go any farther this is obviously for people who are rooted & are on CM7 roms & know their way around their phone a little at least and the lockscreen sliders don't come with the theme, they were done over at UOT Kitchen so check them out for more customizations***
Things To Download:
MIUI Theme for Go Launcher EX credit goes to: Quinny899
MIUI Music App credit goes to: JsinLegacy
Go Launcher EX credit goes to: GoforAndroid
MIUI Camera and Gallery (Must be flashed in Recovery, This version is for CWM 3+) credit goes to:????
MIUI Camera and Gallery (Must be flashed in Recovery, This version is for CWM 2.x.x) credit goes to:????
MIUI CM7 Theme (**NOTE** this is not a flashable zip file, this is a zip of multiple files such as icons, wallpapers, bootanimation, CM7 Theme, and etc. You HAVE to extract the zip file on your SD Card to use it. If you need help with what to install on this part make sure you read the READ ME.txt in the zip file.) credit goes to: ZduneX25
Note the following "steps" are not in any particular order.
First Step:
OK first things first of course you have to make sure your rooted and running cm7. now if you want the full effect of this set-up your gonna need to use ZduneX25 cm7 patcher witch can be found here. Now if you don't know how to use the patcher i will be doing a side tutorial on how to use it in the future.
Second Step:
Ok let's get started, I'm going to begin this tutorial with the cm7 miui theme by ZduneX25. So make sure to download the zip file posted above.
Then after it's done downloading you'll want to unzip the file and place it somewhere you will remember.
now depending on what all you want to use in the extracted zip file (I'll be using just the wallpapers and the main theme) you'll need to move those files/folders to your sd card (anyway you seem fit, ill be just connecting my usb mount to my computer) (PS. if your wondering what some of the other files are in the folder, go ahead and check out the read-me.txt)
After you put the files on your SD Card that's in your phone, you'll need to make sure your Unknown Sources Option is on. (go to settings/applications/ and click on Unknown Sources)
Now you'll need to use a file browser on your phone to find the themed .apk to install it, I'll be using root explorer but there's more then one app to file browse. As soon as you locate your file (witch is called MIUI_by_Z25.apk)
you'll want to click on it and either hit install on a popup
or your phone will take you straight to the actual install page.
After that is done installing you can go back to your home screen and click on your app drawer and scroll down till you get to theme chooser
(Note your icons and everything about your phone will look differently then my screenshots so if you don't see the icon on my screenshots that looks like yours don't worry the app is the same.)
click on theme chooser and scroll left or right till you get to the MIUI theme, once your on the theme click apply.
Your status bar might disappear for a little bit, that's normal, the theme is just restarting your status bar to show the new icons and what not. BEFORE you go any farther make sure to reboot your phone after applying this theme (or any other theme really) to make sure you get the full effect of the basic theme.
After the reboot is done and your cellphone has settled you'll notice the first part of this tutorial/how to is complete. You've successfully installed the CM7 theme for the MIUI Overhaul. Now on to part two.
Third Step:
Now were gonna go ahead and install any apps needed for the full effect that can be installed when the phone is booted up normally.
First things first you'll want to go and download Go Launcher EX from the app store and install it.
Then you'll want to go back to your file browser and find where you saved your MIUI Theme for Go Launcher EX and your MIUI Music App and install both of them like you did for the MIUI CM7 theme.
The MIUI Music App is exactly what its called its the music player from MIUI so you don't have to do anything with that, its all set. But to get the MIUI Theme for GO Launcher EX to work you have to apply it by clicking your Menu Button on your phone when your on your home screen
Then you click on Themes and when the menu pops up if you don't see MIUI on the first screen
You'll want to scroll to the left and it should be there. Then all you have to do is tap on the icon for MIUI and hit apply. Then you are done with theme-ing Go Launcher EX.
Fourth Step:
Now the final (major) thing to do is you'll want to reboot into recovery and go down to "Install zip from SD Card" click that then go to "Choose zip from SD Card" then you'll want to go to the folder you saved all your zips to and click on " MIUICamera_and_Gallery.zip (If your on CWM 2.x.x) or MIUICamera_and_Gallery_EDIFY.zip (Of your on CWM 3.0 and up) then you'll scroll down to where it says yes and click on it and wait for it to install, once its done installing onto your phone you can reboot and now you have MIUI's Camera and Gallery. Then all that is left is to set up your wallpapers, widgets of any kind that you like and your done. YAY!
If anyone needs any help with any steps or has any suggestions please feel free to comment on my posts and let me know what you think and if anyone needs anymore details on how to use the CM7 Patcher to get a transparent status bar let me know and I''l make up a tutorial for that also.
