Keep Your Eyes On Jesus
“When Peter saw him, he asked, ‘Lord, what about him?’” John 21:21 (NIV)
Jesus had just given Peter a command, “Follow Me.” But Peter looked over at John and said, “What about him?” and Jesus answered with holy precision: “What is that to you? You must follow Me.” (John 21v22 NIV) Because comparison will kill your clarity, distraction will dilute your devotion and leaning too hard on people will leave you disappointed.
Peter was worried about John. You are often worried about them… what are they doing? Why are they blessed? Why did they get the opportunity, the platform, the favor? And Jesus is still saying, “What is that to you? Follow Me.” You will get let down if you lean too hard on people, even good people, even spiritual people.
Peter preached with fire but struggled with racial bias (Galatians 2v11–12). James and John, sons of thunder, wanted to call down fire on a village for rejecting Jesus (Luke 9v54). Thomas walked with Jesus and still doubted the resurrection (John 20v25). And you? You have disappointed others too. We are all imperfect vessels and we all get it wrong sometimes, but Jesus never does. He doesn’t just know the way, He is the way. He said, “Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8v12 NIV)
So stop chasing the crowd, stop analyzing their assignment. Stop looking sideways and start looking upward. “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1–2 NIV) Keep your eyes on Him, follow where He leads, trust what He says and rest in the truth that while people may fail you, Jesus never will.

🌱 How should we share our faith? 🌱
As Christians, we each have a unique role in representing Christ to the world. Some of us feel called to openly share scripture and encouragement online, hoping it might plant a seed for someone scrolling by. Others feel that quietly living out their faith speaks volumes, trusting that God moves hearts in His time. “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow” (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).
And both are so valid. The Bible reminds us that the Holy Spirit is the true agent of transformation—“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth” (John 16:13)—yet God often uses many ways to reach hearts, even something as simple as a post. People might stumble upon a message right when they need it, receiving a gentle nudge to explore faith in a new way.
But here's the key—our heart’s intention. Whether we post or remain silent, the aim is to reflect Jesus authentically and lovingly. It's not about proving a point but being open to how God might work through us, big or small, visible or unseen.
Let’s ask ourselves, is there enough evidence in how we live that we’re followers of Christ? Jesus encouraged us, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Our lives should show that we’re changed—not by loudness but by love, grace, and truth.
In the end, God can work through both quiet lives and public testimonies. So, let’s pray for wisdom to share (or not share) with gentleness and respect, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15), always trusting that He’s in control.
