U said u can show how to make a gif, how?!!

Sure. Gonna keep it pretty simple.

1) Download the video. You can use a browser extension for that, just search for something like “video downloader”, pretty straight forward. Some sites even lets you download videos directly. Higher the quality of the video, better quality gifs. 

Depending on how long the video is you might wanna cut it down to just the part you’re gonna make into a gif. I use OnlineVideoCutter.com for that. It’s free and you can upload the file or paste the video link directly and then cut it or crop it.

If you have another way of getting the video, go ahead and skip step one. It’s just how I do it.

2) Upload the video. I use the site Ezgif.com since it’s very simple to use. Upload the video but note that the size can’t be bigger than 100MB. Therefore I recommend cutting the video in the previous step to just include the part you’re gonna make into a gif. 

3) Gif settings. After you’ve uploaded the video you need to set the length for the gif (start/end time). I’ve noticed that I get the best quality by doing the following:

a) Set the length. b) Set the frame rate option to “25 (max 10sec)” or “20 (max 15sec). Higher the frame rate, smoother and better quality it will be, but the size will be much bigger too.  c) Change the size to “Original (up to 800px)”.

Press “Convert to Gif”.

4) Resize the gif. Note:

The max size for a gif on tumblr is 8MB. The width for 1 image should be 540px. The width for 2 images side-by-side should be 268px each. The width for 3 images side-by-side should be 177px each.

WIth that in mind click “Resize” below the gif (I usually open it in a separate browser tab to be able to go back and change the options in step 3) and in the box for “Width” enter 540 if it’s just one image. Leave the other fields empty. Click “Resize image”.

5) Optimize the gif (Optional). If your resized image is below 8MB, and you’re happy with it, you can save it or copy the image link and upload it on Tumblr. If it’s larger than 8MB you can try optimizing it to make it smaller. Click “Optimize” below the gif. 

a) Make sure “Optimization method” is set to “Lossy gif”. b) Set the “Compression level” to 5 to begin with. And click "Optimize image”. c) If the size still is too big you can try changing the “compression level” to a higher number.

Note that higher the number, smaller the size but lesser the quality. You can try playing around with the other optimization methods too but the quality won’t be that good I’ve noticed.

6) Speed (Optional). If you have a shorter gif you might wanna make it last a little bit longer. Click “Speed” and enter a lower value (I usually go for like 60 or 70) and make sure it’s set to “% of current speed”. The size might increase a lot if you slow the gif down, but sometimes it doesn’t change at all.

Hope it was somewhat clear and maybe helped someone. Said I was gonna keep it simple but it got a bit lengthy. Might seem pretty complicated but when you’ve done it a few times you’ll get the hang of it. The hardest part is still finding videos in good quality and there’s probably simpler ways of doing it but this is one way. If you have a question feel free to drop an ask. ✌🏼
