i do have specific questions on how hockey has affected the underground ngl- has it brought people closer together or changed their views on humans? do they react to old hockey tapes the same way we react to current hockey news (ie gettimg pissed when their favorite team looses, getting super hyped when they win)

speaking of, do the different areas tend to gravitate as a whole towards different teams, or is it all a person by person basis? does mettaton have a hockey section on his show?

I'd say that generally, its brought people closer together, but also further apart. People have rivalry beefs that aren't that serious, but some people (Undyne) take it a bit far...

They're defo invested in their hockey tapes. In my head the monsters probably don't entirely remember/keep track of human years due to the fact that they can't see days and nights, so "seasons to them are literally like tv seasons. Because of this, monsters who try and collect all the seasons are really confused as to why the video quality is so good in seasons 00-25, then drops off in season 45, slowly getting better until 99. also where are the missing 20 seasons???

Team choice is a person by person basis, usually monsters just picked one of the first two teams they watched play.

MTT has a hockey section, and will sometimes even air hockey tapes on his show. He'll mute the audio and do commentary over it (incorrectly).

aa this is my first time sending in an ask to a blog ever ;w;’ currently obsessed with hockeytale papyrus so i wanted to send in an ask! how would papyrus feel about a s/o who is basically his cheerleader? showing up at all his games and cheering him on from the sidelines.

his s/o’s support fills him with determination… (he went 28/28 on his shots after this)

Before Sans started playing, Papyrus was the goalie. Needless to say, he wasn’t very good at it. He prefers a more active role on the ice, and his lanky-ness doesnt help at all.

I love how hockey papyrus has his scarf like a hood of some kind, absolutely peak.

(Ik this doesnt really lead anywhere so like, if you wanna yap abt whatever you can lol /nf)

For whatever reason I just couldn’t imagine him in a helmet. Hes too expressive and it blocks too much.

Plus I really didn’t want to have to draw hockey helmets (you’ll notice no hockeytale characters wear proper helmets). In my head, they find gear thats been thrown out in the dump, so usually it’s either really beat up or not the best quality. Then on top of that, the brothers skulls are shaped differently from a human skull, so helmets probably wouldn’t fit great.

Paps appreciates the concern though. He knows humans are squishier and more fragile than skeletons, so he says “DONT TRY THIS AT HOME”

Paps biggest (friendly) rival is Undyne on the Waterfall Echoflowers, who plays with Aaron and her favorite royal guard members. Sans and much of the Canine unit play for the Snowdin Snow. Oftentimes people need to be shuffled around to other teams because a lot of the Hotland monsters accidentally melt the ice (Vulcan almost dusted once…)

Papyrus plays hockey headcanons!!

(aka HockeyTale)

First, the only major difference between hockeytale and undertale is that someone’s collection of vhl hockey recordings fell into the underground and people taught themselves hockey

Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland, and New Home all have club teams (snowdin usually wins due to… having ice)

Pap is THE player on The Snowdin Snows (Asgore insisted on naming the teams)

He plays center and absolutely dominates on the ice. probably all that training for the royal guard…

Unfortunately in the underground, there isn’t much in terms of hockey gear, which is why pap ties his scarf around his head. a little protection is better than nothing, right?

From the little Papyrus knows about surface hockey leagues, his favorite team is the Arizona Coyotes! Good thing a bunch of their merch has fallen into the dump recently. They must have had a bad season or something….

He painted flames on his stick so he can “strike the puck while it’s hot”

Doesn’t know why people tape their sticks, but does it with orange duck tape because all the other players he’s seen do it.

Pap actually uses figure skates that have had their picks grinded down by sans because all the other hockey skates they’ve found wouldn’t fit him

Even still he has to wear thick socks to get them to fit right

Pap has a dog bed he keeps his hockey puck in when they aren’t playing. His name is Pucksworth.

Overall Papyrus has a crazy love of the game. It gives him something else to put his endless energy into while underground :)
