For the last twenty years I have been assembling showreels for my animated works. These are usually just under-two-minutes and crammed full of my latest and/or greatest projects!

I'm not gonna claim to be an expert, but this video contains a few little tips I try to stick to whenever I put a new showreel together that you might find useful!

I also over-analyse my very first showreel from 2005, a very over-the-top production from when I barely had anything to even showcase! I might have also found a long lost even older showreel?

This is the first full illustration I've done since...last September? Blimey! I felt this was looong overdue! I have people in my life that are LGBTQ+ that mean the world to me so I wanted to make it very clear that I am there for them!

This is my very first animation showreel from 2005, recreated from scratch in HD as the original was 240p and heavily compressed.

It's quite bad! I barely had any animation to even show (I had only been animating in Flash for about a year and some of the work shown was made in Multimedia Fusion!) so I filled it with silly transitions and 3D effects, but it's preserved here in all it's crusty glory so you can see how far I've come in 20 years of editing these things.

In a series of animated shorts I created with ‪Deadline Communications‬ for ‪Love Essex‬ called 'Rubbish Rumours' I was tasked with animating a pair of bin bags in sweatbands exercising on the spot! This was without a doubt one of the more bizarre and challenging things I have had to animate over the years! In this video you'll see over ten hours of work whoosh by as I frame-by-frame animate these bin bags squashing, stretching and hopping with strained expressions on their faces! Along the way I explain each step of my process! Video link after the break!

Here is my latest animation in collaboration with Deadline Communications, this time a Christmas ad for Colchester Zoo!

A young boy who visits the Zoo dreams of a wooly mammoth and his doodles come to life while he sleeps on Christmas Eve! The boy and mammoth go on an adventure to save Santa!

This was created with about 650 drawings and (hardly) any recycling, animated on twos instead of the usual threes or fours I often do.

The commercial features an original song written and performed by Josie Beth called 'Closer to you', which has been released as a single on all music streaming platforms, here it is on Spotify!

A European 2D hand-animated film just arrived in UK cinemas called 'A Greyhound of a Girl' and it's one of only a handful of movies to make me cry!

Set in Ireland, this movie is all about the strong bond between multiple generations of ladies in a family and honestly made me feel more emotions than Inside Out 2! I have seen next to zero coverage about this movie out there, so I was compelled to bring you this train of thought/review of it!

My PNGTuber Version 3 model: the NEW poses!

I got pretty carried away with designing new poses! Many of these have practical uses such as the three that are pointing in different directions and many are expressions I felt I badly needed in my arsenal of commands! I might make some more in the future!

My PNGTuber Version 3 model: the original poses!

Most of these animations have existed since 2022 (with the exception of the telephone pose from 2023) but they were all re-built in Flash this year with more body movement, an extra in-between for the blinking eyes and four fingers on each hand across the board! Also the shocked pose now has a talking variant looking backwards in fear!

Over the last couple of months I have been completely re-working the current seven poses of my PNGTuber as well as adding nine brand new poses! I also bought myself a MIDI controller to pilot the many new commands and the PNGTuber software VeadoTube Mini released a huge Version 2 update with lots of new features!

(This artwork was a bit out of my comfort zone when it comes to the airbrush shading, took a few attempts to get it feeling right.)

Memory Lane retirement home welcomes all IF's!

I was not expecting anything from the movie IF, the trailers made it look kinda rubbish but it was actually pretty darn good?? Surprisingly mature and pleasantly paced, felt like a charming 1990's family movie. Might be a bit hammy and over-sentimental for some but worth a watch!

First bit of fan art I've done for the pure fun of it in like...over a year?? I couldn't decide if I liked it best in full colour or mostly B&W, so I kept both! Inspired by this vintage Flapper illustration I found.
