Clover Rants Miraculously: (Not) All By Myself

I feel a lot discussions regarding Marinette and her support group don't really get into the crux of the issue - which is less "Marinette has a support group, but acts like she's all by herself and that's bad (which it is)" and more "Marinette has a support group, but the writers refuse to utilize it and keep contriving reasons why she can't, making her act like she's all by herself when she isn't and that's bad.". All throughout the 5 previous seasons, the writers constantly swat down opportunities to actually make full use of Marinette's friend group outside of romance schemes; They have them constantly doubt her in situations where they should at least give her the benefit of a doubt, will often severely reduce their intelligence/empathy/capabilities to force plots through ("Derision", the Resistance Plotline (which could have been good *shakes fist at sky with scorn*) and the Lila stuff immediately come to mind), or just straight up remove them from existence because they need to force Maribug to "make a mistake" that could have easily been avoided with their presence (*Stares at Sabrina being removed from "Strikeback"/"Risk" to force the whole Adrien/Felix mix up), all so Marinette can either be pitted because "Poor Mari, she's all by herself! Absolutely no one's on her side!" Chat Noir whomst? Adrien what? Or they need/want her to look badass in that annoying Pseudo-Girlboss way where the writing goes "Look at how cool and badass this female character is! Who cares if her friends aren't there, she ain't need nobody or no one because she's all she needs so why does she need an entire army of 12 extra heroes then?!" And it's so annoying that the Miraclass has been basically reduced to Lovesquare/Adrienette fans/shippers-on-deck when they had actual bigger roles/interests in the earlier seasons (Which is why the new episode made me so happy like yes! Character exploration that has nothing to do with the main couple! Wonderful! Do more of this please!)

Back from Elio! Another great movie from Pixar!

I think it's great that they tackled loneliness as a theme. Wondering if Earth is the problem, or yourself when feeling like you don't fit in because you're dealing with something you don't see anyone else experiencing or you like something really niche that nobody else does.

The way Elio comes out of his shell once he's among aliens is wonderful to see, and then him finally finding a friend in Glordon. It's like once he achieved his goal of meeting aliens, he was able to open himself up to the idea of making friends.

The subplot of Aunt Olga struggling as a parent was well done too. She dreamed of becoming an astronaut, but put that dream on hold once she needed to become her nephew's guardian and tries very hard to understand him.

It's a fun movie and I encourage everyone reading this to watch it too. In a time where Disney and Pixar are leaning heavily on remakes and sequels, they need proof that original ideas can still be winners. The only way to prove that to them is for Elio to be a box office success.

I’m glad you agree that Doof works better in Phineas and Ferb when he’s evil. I have thought it for so long, and I know a lot of others in the fandom think it’s regressive of him to go back to being evil but the show really does work better that way. Also, the times we’ve seen him not be evil are in the OWCA files and in Milo Murphy’s Law, and those definitely aren’t his best moments.

yeah that’s what I was thinking, it just doesn’t work in those instances at all. his character suffers a lot and he goes from being pretty much the most popular character in the fandom (or at least one of them) to being super polarizing. like I love him and all but he pisses me off in mml and owca files is a lot of the same. he just works better when he’s being evil and when it’s just him ranting at perry instead of just existing to bug other characters. I know people have said “oh but it’s because he’s audhd and has bad social skills” which I completely relate to but it’s still annoying to watch on tv y’know. especially because without him building shit he’s just reduced to being a fucking idiot and that bugs me because he deserves a bit more credit than that. I think he’s more competent than the writers seem to think he is but when he’s not shown doing anything… like anything at all (what exactly does he do in mml? sit on the couch and cry about missing perry?) he just kind of sucks and it sucks to watch. but that’s another topic I could rant about forever

anyway it’s the same thing with candace returning to busting, like this show has had 4 seasons of going back to the status quo every episode and changing the formula so drastically in season 5 just doesn’t make sense. sure in other tv shows having big character arcs and growth is good but this show is so much of the same stuff over and over that having such big character changes be permanent would feel weird. sure I would’ve loved having doof be a science teacher but that would work for a spinoff, not for the main show. and if the new seasons take place in summer that wouldn’t even work anyway because he wouldn’t be teaching then. so if not that then we’re left with him being in owca or being prof time and I don’t like either of those (especially prof time I really hate everything about that). so pretty much the only option is for him to go back to evil. it makes it a lot easier to come up with episode plots too I’m sure

I’m fine with the idea of him giving up evil in the future, like when season 6 eventually has a finale we’ll see what happens then. but in the meantime I feel like this just makes way more sense for the show. it also helps solve the plot holes of why he’s evil in the winter episodes which have been topics of conversation for over a decade

ALSO he has adhd and he’s very fickle. so that also makes sense for him to change his mind and go back into old habits

Meet Manic. A lifelong resident of Robotropolis, he grew up under the care of the man who can get you anything(legal or not)- Farrell. He's a talented drummer and is wildly charming, everyone in town likes Manic. He's also stacked his slight-of-hand stats, he'll rob you blind and you won't notice till it's too late.

Manic is an empath. He uses that ability to choose his targets and almost never gets caught- lulling people into trusting him with his pull. He also grew up best friends with Amy Rose, and tends to lurk around her fortune reading stall to keep an eye on her.

His involvement with the Freedom Fighters starts and ends with the black market, providing supplies for them if they have the cash to pay. That will, much to his chagrin, be changing soon.
