I'VE HEARD LITERALLY NOBODY MENTION THAT MR. RING-A-DING'S OPENING CARTOON (Mr. Ring-A-Ding Goes to Town) IS MORE THAN LIKELY A REFERENCE TO MR BUG GOES TO TOWN!!!!

We know that Mr. Ring-A-Ding is HEAVILY inspired by 1920/30/40s Fleischer cartoons (he's an odd mishmash of seemingly different creatures, he's a rubber hose character, Sunshine Sally bears a passing resemblance to Betty Boop), so I'm not at all surprised there's such a blatant reference to other Fleischer cartoons.

I've never actually SEEN Mr. Bug Goes to Town, but we can infer from just the poster that Ring-A-Ding has several references to it.

1. 'Bug'-like appearance

2. Technicolor

3. There's singing in both

4. The very title is almost identical!

5. Bug character is seen with his femme counterpart

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to see if I can find a version of this cartoon that's available to watch, whilst also praying that they'll release the full version of Mr. Ring-A-Ding's song.

I decided to take it upon myself to recreate the scenery from the Mr Ring a Ding cartoon, even if it's not entirely accurate. I'm kind a proud of this one.

In all honesty, hearing about the "Chicken Jockey" chaos reminded me of something the Gangreen Gang would actually do! Oh, yeah, in fact, they DID do that, in that one PPG issue where the girls wanted to go to a movie, Prof doesn't allow it, they sneak in with the GGG, and as you would expect, they cause chaos, especially throwing popcorn at the screen! They get their asses beat, though.

Too bad the PPG don't exist in real life to put these teens in their place like they do the GGG!

a very generic and simple request

Basically, Heather's a little brat while she's regressed (like baby mode), and Alejandro is a tired caregiver

Heather was VERY cranky. She had stayed up all night watching Disney movies, and it was coming back to her like a bullet... which of course, was fucking pissing Alejandro off... but he has to be patient...

"Babydoll, please..." Alejandro said, desperately, trying to get the breakfast in her mouth as she turned her head away. "No!" Alejandro groaned and looked down. "What's wrong, babygirl?" "Nothin's wrong." Alejandro sighed... that's all she said, ALL DAY. "Nothin, Nothin, Nothin..." why couldn't she just say why she was in a bad mood... of course, Alejandro didn't know she stayed up all night...

"Baby, please... papa's getting tired..." "I don't care..." Alejandro just groaned again... that's all she said when she was cranky... "Babygirl, eat now." He said in a more serious tone. "NO!" That was IT. Alejandro had enough and... he snapped. "EAT THE FUCKING FOOD NOW, OR I SWEAR TO GOD I... I..." He stopped when he looked at her again... the girl was in tears.

"Oh, baby, I'm sorry, I..." He tried to touch her, but she pushed him back... this was bad... "Don' touch m'!" She said, pushing him back and sobbing as he picked her up. "Babygirl, it's me, it's me... look at me..." She looked up, still lookin'g terrified. "Put me down, put m' down!" "M sowwy, I'll be good!" "Baby, I... I..." Alejandro looked down as he put her down and she ran... and he looked down... and cried. He just cried. He'd had a rough month, and he was just struggling... but he couldn't let that stop him right now.

He ran to Heather's room. "Baby?" Heather was out of her trance of trauma... and looked at him in tears... "Daddy..." She hugged him, sobbing into his chest as he cradled her. "I'm here babygirl... shhh..." Heather sniffled into his chest after 30 minutes. "I'm sowwy..." "No, I'm sorry... it's my fault babygirl, I should've never tried and yelled at you... it's just that.. I was mad." "Okay daddy... can we.. we..." She yawned... that fatigue was getting to her.

"Ohhh... is it naptime?" He giggled as she blushed. "N.. no..." She fell asleep in his arms... he smiled, rocking himself in the rocking chair.

As said before, for the month of April, for Autism Acceptance/Awareness month, I am hoping to draw and post art of fictional (mostly animated) characters who are headcannoned to be autistic or canonically autistic and explain why they made the list in my mind. 

I understand that it might be controversial for some, who prefer to see those characters as caricatures and cartoon characters, and that’s fine. No one is forcing you to have these views. These points that I put about each character I talk about tend are commonly characteristics of autism and resonate with a lot of autistics, due to some of the behaviors and traits exhibited in the show/movie/comic, etc, even if the writers wrote them like that unintentionally. 

Just to clarify, the list is in no particular order, and it’s going to include both male and female characters (and some non binary ones) and one trait that I will NOT include is they’re wearing the same outfit. (I understand that a lot of autistics tend to wear the same outfit or the same kind often due to sensory issues with texture, but as far as animated characters are concerned, it’s a cartoon character trait so that that the character is recognizable). Also, if a character is of a different sexuality, this will not be included as a trait as it is a totally separate thing to the neurological condition (even though in a lot of studies, it’s shown that autistic people are more likely to be homosexual/trans/non binary, etc, but sexuality doesn’t equal autism. It’s more coincidental). 

Without further ado, let’s get on:

1. SpongeBob SquarePants 

I know what you’re thinking, How can a cartoon sea sponge who is meant to be portrayed as somewhat of an idiot and optimistic be autistic? 

I understand all that, as he IS meant to be a cartoon character who simply has an optimistic view of the world, but here’s why I believe him to be autistic: 

While he is relentlessly optimistic and social, he can also be very naïve, and he doesn’t always see other’s true intentions, as shown with Plankton, Mr Krabs and Squidward, and in some cases, Patrick (in later seasons). Thankfully, this gets him out of trouble sometimes. 

He also doesn’t always take a hint that others might be annoyed by him and might want to be left alone. 

Considering he is somewhat a young adult (he has a job, lives independently, and is learning to drive), while he does have adult interests, he also has some childish and unconventional ones, such as bubble blowing, collecting toys and going to the toy shop and superhero’s.

Related to the above point, he can be seen as weird“ or “odd” by the rest of Bikini Bottom. Then again, Patrick gets the same treatment. 

He is often eager to learn and it seems that he excels more in the theory aspect of driving than the physical aspect (which he fails numerous times)

Highly sensitive (cries a lot)

Distraught when something is not as expected in his routine (loosing his badge, Krusty Krab closing, not getting the job as manager, etc) and has somewhat of a rigid schedule. 

He’s shown to be highly intelligent and some of his skills are near savant level. 

He embraces his weirdness and doesn’t give a shit as to what others think and is oblivious to comments made of him, although sometimes, he’s not and often sensitive to criticism.

He is also very punctual, arriving on the dot, and is hyper focused when it comes to his job. 

To hammer the point home, Tom Kenny (the voice of Spongebob) has said that the Sponge is “vaguely autistic” and that apparently, autistic kids are drawn to the character. 

I think that all Aspies should aspire to be SpongeBob, honestly.
