It was The Magician’s Nephew, book 6 of The Chronicles of Narnia! (Some people will tell you it’s book 1. Those people are wrong.) After her sister defeats her armies in the war for the crown, Jadis of Charn speaks the deplorable word and destroys every living being in the world except herself. Good stuff. :D
