I just watched the first episode of JAG yesterday and JAG is probably more realistic in terms of time period accurate misogyny, but my 86' Flyboys would NEVER!!!!

Also why is Lt. Rabb low key a Maverick knock off? Naval aviator, dark hair, green-blue eyes, has an infamous father that went down in Vietnam, had their RIO die! The only difference is that Rabb is a JAG while Mav is still a pilot.

Like come on!!!

I know people really like JAG but the similarities are uncanny!

I cant be the only one who see's the physical similarities between Slider and Hollywood.

So I propose this headcanon!

Slider and Hollywood are extremely estranged half brothers. They have the same mother but different dad's. Slider's mother left him and his father when he was young and she remarried and had Hollywood. Slider resented Hollywood and his mother for a long time, and when he found out that his half brother was also a naval aviator and was going to be in his Top Gun class, he nearly imploded.

Slider soon comes to accept that hid mother leaving wasn't Hollywood's fault and they decided to have a brotherly relationship.

I need Top Gun 3 to really expand on Hangman, like for instance, that his first air-to-air kill wasn't the best moment and its how he lost a wingman, how else do we Maverick-afy Hangman then by having him lose a wingman.

Top Gun 3 needs to be the near break down of Hangman and how he is 90% bravado covering up trauma that eventually boils over.

Mav sees so much of himself in Hangman and will stop at nothing to help him, that and Rooster sees how broken Hangman is and THEN we learn the history between Rooster and Hangman by Hangman having a heart-to-heart with Maverick.

Im all for Carole and Mav knowing each first before meeting Goose. And how did they meet?

They were both in the same foster home as kids for roughly a year and a half, the longest either had been with a family. Carole was Mav's sister and Mav was her brother.

Mav then met Goose and he just HAD to introduce them! He regrets it as soon as he walks in on them 3 months post meeting!🤣

Rooster having anger issues is such an underdeveloped aspect I've seen about him.

It really manifested after his mom died and while he was good at school academically, he'd always be in trouble for fighting. When he found out that Mav had his application pulled his reaction was explosive, refusing to hear neither Mav or Ice out, just packed his bags and left.

He learned to regulate himself when he got to flight school, but when he got called on for the Uranium mission, the combination of Maverick and Hangman had loosened his hold on his emotions.

He's embarrassed by it and tends to cry if he does get very angry.

But imagine if the IMF was like the Red Room from Marvel. They pick up orphans and kids off the street and train them to complete the impossible missions.

Each agent was given a guardian of sorts that acted as a trainer and a parent in public. Ethan's guardian was Jim and that makes his trauma from MI:1 even worse.

The IMF is all Ethan has ever known, he tried to break away and live a semi normal life in MI:3, but IMF will always call and he's conditioned to always answer. They gave him purpose and it takes YEARS for Ethan to deconstruct his way of thinking.

Ice and Mav are officially able to attend the military ball together in 2011 when DADT is repealed.

It's gets even better when Ice and Mav slow dance to 'Take my breath away' and at the end or even better when the song hits it's key change at the end, Ice gets on one knee and that's how he proposes to Mav.

To Top this off, Hollywolf dance to 'Im carrying your love with me' by George Straight.

Maverick: *Picks up Ice's ringing phone* "Hello this is Admiral Kazansky's office"

Ice: "Mav whose on the phone?"

Maverick: "Oh its just the President"

Ice: *Falls out of chair and attempts to snatch said phone away* "Mav dont-"

Maverick: "Oh im kidding, it's Slider! Im not THAT dumb Babe."

The headcanon that Ice is Russian can make his backstory even more interesting and sad.

The cold war didn't officially end until 1989 so Ice as a kid, during his teen years, and even during Top Gun he had to truly prove himself. People calling him a "commie" behind his back AND to his face.

Ice and Mav find common ground over rumors of being "traitors", they have their group of friends and support systems but after Goose's death both Ice and Mav grow exceedingly closer to each other, truly opening up about their feelings and how they feel judged by the world. Mav copes with being reckless and Ice copes with striving for perfection and success.

Maverick being shit with modern technology is probably one of the best headcanons ever. He understands the newest Jets that he flies, but texting? A BOOMER. Social media? Bradley helped them up! He writes in the comments of the Dagger Squad's IG posts like he's responding to a letter!

What makes it even better is that the other flyboys have caught onto things like texting and social media a lot better and Mav is so proud he finally found the emoji board!

I like think that Jake is a bit like Meredith Grey, he had parents in the armed services growing up and they were extraordinary and high ranked, but they neglected Jake and his sisters for a long time. Jake joined the Navy but felt that he was always in his parent's shadows.

He hides his insecurities with arrogance, his parents always said to keep his nose in the air and to never be questioned, being an embarrassment was NOT an option.

He opens up to Bradley eventually and how his supposed nepotism is more of a curse that breaks his mental health and confidence. His parents never wanted kids, they were career orientated and kids were road blocks in said careers.

When one of his parents comes to Top Gun while Jake is attending the school, he gets dressed down and accused of being soft and an embarrassment. The Navy wasn't good enough, being the best pilot in his generation wasn't good enough, Bradley was never good enough...

I love the idea of Polish Tom Kazansky and Italian Pete Mitchell! It makes room for some interesting family dinners and then we have Bradley who has picked up on both Polish and Italian a little bit and all the other daggers think he's speaking in tongues.

I need more Navy Brat Tom meets other Navy brat Pete.

I also love the idea that Duke Mitchell and Ice's father were briefly stationed at the same base when the kids were LITTLE little and they went to the same childcare group briefly and never remembered each other.

The Navy wanted a superior aviator so they stole some of Mav's DNA and Iceman's DNA and BOOM! Jake "Hangman" Seresin was born!!!
